In order to monitor in situ electrochemical reaction we prepared the gold microshells on silica microspheres of $2{\mu}m$ in diameter which were able to not only work as electrodes but also surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) active substrates. Previously reported gold microshell using polystyrene as core material have a few serious problems, mostly coming from solubility in organic solvent, nonuniform distribution in size and toxicity of the polystyrene. Here we prepared silica core-gold microshell to obtain a strong SERS active platform benefitting from the physicochemical stability, uniformity and non-toxicity of silica. Varying the concentration of 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES), the surfaces of silica beads were modified and the optimal condition was determined to be 1% APTES that made the SERS activity of gold microshell strongest. The gold microshells as made were characterized by homemade Micro-Raman system spectrometer, Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope.
Acoustic and ichthyoplankton data collected from Shelikof Strait in 1981, 1984 and 1985 were examined to determine spawning ground and period of walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma. Walleye pollock in the Gulf of Alaska migrated into Shelikof Strait for spawning during late winter and early spring. They entered Shelikof Strait via the warm and saline deep layer (continental slope water mass) in the southwestern channel, and major fish schools concentrated for spawning along the deep trough (250~300m) in the western part of the central strait. Peak spawning activity occurred there from late March to early April. Peak spawning time and area in Shelikof Strait varied little between years, despite difference in hydrography. Geographical advantages together with some oceanographic phenomena (reduced water transport and reduced mixed layer depth in spring) made that area an optimal spawning ground in the Gulf of Alaska during early April. After early April, spawning intensity decreased rapidly and the spawning area tended to expand to the northeast and southwest.
Monte Carlo ion scattering program is improved with the single scattering methods where the total cross section and the mean free path are calculated as a function of atomic density during ion scattering in matter. The relations among the parameters of incident ions and substrate materials are investigated to the sputtering phenomena. The sputtering yield has been analyzed with the dependence on the incident ion species and energy, incident angle, and surface binding energy. The energy distribution of sputtered particles is discussed.

In this study, an efficient algorithm for the numerical search of the geodesic path of the creeping wave on a doubly curved surface is developed. The ellipsoid as a doubly curved surface is studied because of its three dimensional nature in that it can be used to simulate the body of an aircraft, or a missile body. Numerical result of the geodesic path on an ellipsoid is given.
A female Brachymeria lasus (Walker) was exposed to one or four pupae of host Hyphantria cunea Drury for 20 minutes within a petri dish $(1.5\times9cm)$ to learn factors influencing the host discrimination by the parasitoid. It rejected the parasitized host with its rejection ratio 73.3% for the one pupal exposure vs 100% for the four pupal exposure scheme. The parasitoid could discriminate the parasitized host by its antennal drumming and ovipositor probing due to a pheromone-like external marking which is effective only for a certain peiod of time, and a host quality associated with the parasitoid development, respectively.
In this paper, the TE (Transverse Electric) scattering problems by a perfectly conducting strip grating over a grounded two dielectric layers with edge boundary condition are analyzed by applying the FGMM (Fourier Galerkin Moment Method). For the TE scattering problem, the induced surface current density is expected to the zero value at both edges of the strip, then the induced surface current density on the strip is expanded in a series of the multiplication of the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind and the functions of appropriate edge boundary condition. The numerical results shown the fast convergent solution and good agreement compared to those of the existing papers.
In this paper, The TE(transverse electric) scattering problems by a resistive strip grating over a grounded dielectric plane with edge boundary condition are analyzed by applying the FGMM(Fourier-Galerkin Moment Method) known as a numerical procedure. For a TE scattering problem, the induced surface current density is expected to the zero value at both edges of the resistive strip, then the induced surface current density on the resistive strip is expanded in a series of the multiplication of Gegenbauer(Ultraspherical) polynomials with the first order and functions of appropriate edge boundary condition. To verify the validity of the proposed method, the numerical results of normalized reflected power for the uniform resistivity R = 100 ohms/square and R = 0 as a conductive strip case show in good agreement with those in the existing papers.
The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in surface dose due to increased scattering of gamma rays from patients injected with 99mTc and 18F, which are radioactive isotopes, in close contact with materials with high atomic number such as the walls of the stable room. Prepare 99mTc and 18F by injecting 20 and 10 mCi respectively into the NEMA phantom, and then measuring the surface dose for 60 minutes by positioning the phantom at a height of 1 m above the surface, at a distance of 0, 5 and 10 cm from the wall, and at the same location as the phantom facing the wall. Each experiment was repeated five times for reproducibility of the experiment and one way analysis of variability (ANOVA) was performed for significance testing and Tukey was used as a post-test. The study found that surface doses of 220.268, 287.121, 243.957, and 226.272 mGy were measured at 99mTc, respectively, in the case of empty space and in the case of 0, 5 and 10 cm, while those of 18F were measured at 637.111, 724.469, 657.107, and 640.365 mGy, respectively. In order to reduce changes in surface dose depending on the patient's location while waiting, it is necessary to keep the distance from the ground or the wall where the patient is closely adhered to, or install an air mattress, etc., to prevent the scattered lines as much as possible, considering the scattered lines due to the wall etc. in future setup of the patient waiting room and safety room, and in addition to the examination, the external skin width may be reduced.
