In this study, the performance evaluation of a conventional wave resonator at the entrance of a port or a pier against secondary undulation has been performed using 2D hydrodynamic modeling within port. A wave resonator has been designed for the attenuation of the secondary undulation induced by the long-periodic waves. The controlled performance of the wave resonator has been numerically investigated for CGWAVE MODULE of finite-element model of SMS (Surface water Modeling System) based on the elliptic mild-slope wave equation. SMS was verified though the comparisons with analytical solution performed by Ippen and Goda (1963). Also, It was confirmed that a wave resonator of a rectangular model harbor is effective enough to control the secondary undulation when it compares variation of water level with the case of no resonance system. From the above results, amplification phenomenon induced by long-period waves transferred from 1900 sec to 2100 sec when it applied a wave resonator in Busan Gamcheon Port which is a deep-sea. And it was confirmed that a wave resonator of Pohang New Port attenuates largely long-period waves which are within the range of 300 sec induced by long-period motion of the moored ship.

Partial safety factors of the load, resistance, and reliability function are evaluated according to the target probability of failure on sliding mode of monolithical vertical caisson of composite breakwaters. After reliability function is formulated for sliding failure mode of caisson of composite breakwaters regarding bias of wave force, uncertainties of random variables related to loads, strengths are analyzed. Reliability analysis for the various conditions of water depth, geometric, and wave conditions is performed using Level II AFDA model for the sliding failure. Furthermore, the reliability model is also applied to the real caisson of composite breakwaters of Daesan, Dong- hae, and Pohang harbor. By comparing the required width of caisson of composite breakwater according to target probability of failure with the other results, the partial safety factors evaluated in this study are calibrated straightforwardly. Even though showing a little difference on the 1% of target probability, it may be found that the present results agree well with the other results in every other target probability of failure.

Most of finite difference numerical models for the simulation of tsunami propagation developed so for are based on the shallow-water equations which are frequently solved by the leap-frog scheme. If the grid size is properly selected, this numerical scheme gives a correct dispersion effect fur constant water depth. However, if the water depth changes, the dispersion effect of tsunamis can not be accurately considered at every grid point in the whole computational domain. In this study we improved the existing two-dimensional dispersion-correction finite difference numerical scheme. The present scheme satisfies the local dispersion relationships of tsunamis propagating over a slowly varying topography while using uniform grid size and time step. To verify the applicability of the improved numerical model, a tsunami due to 1983 East Sea central earthquake is simulated for Korean harbors with the tide gage records such as Sokcho, Mukho, Pohang and Ulsan in the East Sea. Numerical results of the 1983 tsunami are compared with the measured data and the accuracy of the present numerical model is evaluated.

In this study, deep learning model was set up to predict the wave heights inside a harbour. Various machine learning techniques were applied to the model in consideration of the transformation characteristics of offshore waves while propagating into the harbour. Pohang New Port was selected for model application, which had a serious problem of unloading due to swell and has lots of available wave data. Wave height, wave period, and wave direction at offshore sites and wave heights inside the harbour were used for the model input and output, respectively, and then the model was trained using deep learning method. By considering the correlation between the time series wave data of offshore and inside the harbour, the data set was separated into prevailing wave directions as a pre-processing method. As a result, It was confirmed that accuracy and stability of the model prediction are considerably increased.
Behaviors of instrumented steel sheet piles which are installed in sand ground by vibratory hammer were investigated. Especially, stresses acting on the pile during vibratory driving, efficiency factor which reflects differences between theoretical driving force and actually delivered acting force, justifiability of rigidity of steel sheet pile, dynamic resistance characteristics of soil and penetration characteristics of sheet pile were analysed. According to the field test results it is justifiable that steel sheet pile behaves as a rigid body during vibratory driving. And it can be seen that maximum stress acting on sheet pile section is far less than tensile strength of the material. Value of the maximum section force at sheet pile head was 72% of that estimated from theoretical equation. Magnitudes of displacement amplitudes computed from displacement-time history curve corresponding to four penetration depths were in the range of 16 $\sim$ 75% of that specified by manufacturer.
Distribution of population densities of heterotrophic bacteria, E. coli, and Salmonella and Shigella in seawater and sediments at 40 stations near Samcheonpo Bay were measured for 3 times from July to December, 2003. Population densities of heterotrophic bacteria in seawater during survey periods were in the range of $1.7{\pm}0.9{\times}10^3{\sim}2.4{\pm}0.9{\times}10^5$ CFU $mL^{-1}$ and the highest density was shown at St. 34 during the sampling period of September, 2003. Population densities of heterotrophic bacteria were shown higher values on September than those of July and December at all sampling stations. Population densities of anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria in sediments during survey periods were in the range of $2.2{\pm}0.2{\times}10^3{\sim}2.0{\pm}0.2{\times}10^5$ CFU $mL^{-1}$ and their population densities at sampling stations far from Samcheonpo Bay measured lower values than those near Samcheonpo Bay. Population densities of anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria in the sediments were not affected by physico-chemical factors of upper water environment. E. coli were detected only at 8 stations in seawater and 4 stations in the sediments among 40 sampling stations on July and were not detected during September and December. Salmonella and Shigella were detected only a few stations on July and September during sampling periods.

In order to establish eLoran system it needs the betterment of a receiver and a transmitter, the add of data channel to loran pulse for loran system information and the differential Loran for compensating Loran-c signal. Precise ASF database map is essential if the Loran delivers the high absolute accuracy of navigation demanded at maritime harbor entrance. In this study we developed the ASF mapping method using predicted ASFs compensated by the measured ASFs for maritime in the harbor. Actual ASF is measured by the legacy Loran signal transmitted from Pohang station in the GRI 9930 chain. We measured absolute propagation delay between the Pohang transmitting station and the measurement points by comparing with the cesium clock for the calculation of the ASFs. Monteath model was used for the irregular terrain along the propagation path in the Yeongil Bay. We measured the actual ASFs at the 12 measurement points over the Yeongil Bay. In our ASF-mapping method we estimated that the each offsets between the predicted and the measured ASFs at the 12 spaced points in the Yeongil. We obtained the ASF map by adjusting the predicted ASF results to fit the measured ASFs over Yeungil bay.

1. Being seen at the table (20), the number of days which monthy average air temperatures are three degrees of Celsius thermometer($3^{\circ}C$) or more, is the highest marks to be 365 days at Cheju, secondly, 334 days at Pusan, and, Ulsan, Pohang, Mokpo,Yosu and Ullung-Do which all are coastal region are all 306 days, besides, all north area of Taegu and Kwang ju have 275 days consquently, there are 90 days, differance between maximum and minimum. 2. Being seen at the table(22), freezing dates to be influenced upon earth works are obtained, if (1) item is subtracted from 365 days one year. 3. Being seen at the table(18), number of rainy days of which records are 1 millimeter and over to be influenced upon earth through works, days which monthly average air temperatures are $3^{\circ}$ or more, is the maximum to be 100 days at Cheju and its minimum is 60 days at Taegu. Every other region show 70 days or so. But Ullung-Do is 90 days. 4. Being seen at the table (26), the numbers of annual earth works possibility days(4) are obtained, if the values (3) which number of rainy days more than 1 millimeter during the same period are multiplied by 1.27(coefficient of hindrance to earth works) are subtracted from the number of days which monthly average air temperatures $3^{\circ}$ or more [(1)-(3)=(4)]. 5. The number of annual earth works possibility days by regional groups is the maximum to be 242 days at Pusan, and Cheju are 239 days. Other regions are from 218 days to 181 days, namely, they are about 200 days.
This study analyzed physical and chemical characteristics of peat soil to use peat soil as the materials fur pot media and investigated seedling quality of horticultural plants in order to use peat soil as the raw materials fur pot media. The summary of the results is as follows; The chemical characteristics of peat soil, which is main ingredient of pot media are as follows; pH was 4.9, EC was less than $2.0ds{\cdot}m^{-1}$, which interferes the growth of the plant and organic ingredient was 33%. When looking into the germination characteristics of plants according to the mixture of pot media, red pepper showed 54.2% speed of germination and 97% germination rate in peat soil single treatment. Therefore the peatsoil was appropriate for the pot media for red pepper. In case of cucumbers, in the 50 : 50 treatment of main ingredient (peat soil) and auxiliary ingredients (vermiculite, peat moss and perlite) they showed 100% speed of germination and 100% germination rate. Therefore 50 : 50 treatment was appropriate fur the pot media for cucumbers. In case of chinese cabbage, peat soil, perlite and peat moss mixture (50 : 25 : 25) treatment showed the highest speed of germination (77.5%), while the germination rate was a little lower (92.15%) than comparative soil. However, it was appropriate for the pot media for chinese cabbage. In case of watermelon, germination was bad because of the influence of EC when the teat soil ingredient is over 80%. However, in the mixture of peat soil and vermiculite (50:50) treatment, they showed 91.6% speed of germination and 100% germination rate. Therefore it was appropriate for the pot media for watermelon. When looking into the growth of the plants according to the mixture of ingredients, peat soil and perlite (50:50) mixture showed excellent seedling quality for cucumbers, peat soil and perlite (50:50) mixture showed excellent seedling quality and it was proven to be appropriate for the pot media for cucumbers. In case of watermelon, peat soil, peat moss and perlite (80 : 10 : 10) mixture showed excellent seedling quality and it was proven to be appropriate for the pot media for watermelon.

In order to evaluate the seismic capacity of massive vertical type breakwaters which have intensively been deployed along the coast of South Korea over the last two decades, we carry out the preliminary numerical simulation against the PoHang, GyeongJu, Hachinohe 1, Hachinohe 2, Ofunato, and artificial seismic waves based on the measured time series of ground acceleration. Numerical result shows that significant sliding can be resulted in once non-negligible portion of seismic energy is shifted toward the longer period during its propagation process toward the ground surface in a form of shear wave. It is well known that during these propagation process, shear waves due to the seismic activity would be amplified, and non-negligible portion of seismic energy be shifted toward the longer period. Among these, the shift of seismic energy toward the longer period is induced by the viscosity and internal friction intrinsic in the soil. On the other hand, the amplification of shear waves can be attributed to the fact that the shear modulus is getting smaller toward the ground surface following the descending effective stress toward the ground surface. And the weakened intensity of soil as the number of attacking shear waves are accumulated can also contribute these phenomenon (Das, 1993). In this rationale, we constitute the numerical model using the model by Hardin and Drnevich (1972) for the weakened shear modulus as shear waves go on, and shear wave equation, in the numerical integration of which $Newmark-{\beta}$ method and Modified Newton-Raphson method are evoked to take nonlinear stress-strain relationship into account. It is shown that the numerical model proposed in this study could duplicate the well known features of seismic shear waves such as that a great deal of probability mass is shifted toward the larger amplitude and longer period when shear waves propagate toward the ground surface.
