Kinematics and Geometrical Structure of the Planetary Nebula NGC 6881 (행성상 성운 NGC 6881의 운동학적 특성과 기하학적 구조)

  • The Planetary nebula NGC 6881 displays quadrupole morphology and it also has a jet feature in its image. We investigated the line profiles of the optical region spectral emission lines, using the Hamilton Echelle Spectrograph (HES) at the Lick observatory. The HES data obtained in this study was the radiation coming from the inner region within the diameter of 4 second of arc. Expansion velocity was obtained, based on the strong emission line profiles of e.g. H, Hel, Hell, [OIII], [NII], [ArIII], [SII], and [SIII}, using the IRAF and StarLink/Dipso reduction packages. The HI recombination lines showed one single peak profile, while the He and forbidden strong lines displayed double peaks. The results of this study show that the outflow velocity of gas increases radially outwards due to the central stellar radiation pressure. It was concluded that three central rings appeared in the HST image are the result of a combined structure of bipolar cones (seen in e.g. HI lines) and a ring (seen in He, [SIII] lines) in projection.

Inflatable Lifejacket-Integrated Flexible Multiband Antenna (팽창식 구명조끼 장착용 유연한 다중대역 안테나)

  • In this paper, we suggested multiband antenna that can be equipped on a inflatable life-jacket, operating VHF-DSC band(156 MHz), COSPAS-SARSAT band(406 MHz) and GPS band(1,575 MHz) for search and rescue survivors quickly. The GPS band antenna was implemented with a square ring-slot planar antenna, and the COSPAS-SARSAT and VHF-DSC band antenna were implemented meander type dipole antennas. In order to place the antenna on a life-jacket, we installed it on 0.2 mm thickness FR-4 substrate to obtain a flexibility. It appeared that the antenna has -14.6 dB, -30.9 dB, and -18 dB return loss in COSPAS-SARSAT, GPS, and VHF-DSC band, respectively. In addition, its gain has 0.83 dBi, 2.1 dBi in COSPAS-SARSAT and GPS band, respectively.

Study on the Prediction of Dimension Variation due to the Temperature Rises of the Composite Material and Box Beam Type Mold Steel (복합재료를 이용한 박스빔 형태 금형의 온도상승에 따른 치수 변화 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Composite material and mold steel can be expanded differently with the temperature gradients during the forming process because their coefficients of thermal expansions are not the same. Therefore, in order to manufacture the product with accuracy, it is necessary to verify that the forming pressure on the surface of the composite material is maintained to the required level from the material supplier. In this paper, the pressure between the composite material and mold due to the temperature difference was predicted by finite element analysis and the accuracy of predicted value was verified by measuring the thermal expansions of mold steel by the ruler. The predicted value by finite element analysis is closely in agreement with one by the experiment within the required tolerance value of ${\pm}0.05mm$.

Thermal and Electrical Properties of Polyacrylate/Carbon Nanotube Composite Sheet (폴리아크릴레이트/카본나노튜브 복합체 시트의 열적.전기적 성질)

  • The polyacrylate/multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) composites were prepared and investigated for the application as a counter electrode in solar cell. The electrical conductivity of the composites was increased with increasing MWNT content and with the thickness of the sheet. The surface resistivity value of the composite at 50 wt% loading of MWNT was 0.36 ${\Omega}$/sq. The thermal decomposition temperature of the composites was also increased with the MWNT contents, and the increase of $15^{\circ}C$ was observed at the composite of polyacrylate/MWNT (50/50, w/w). The increase of storage modulus of the composites was observed, especially at the higher temperature compared to polyacrylate. The dimensional change of polyacrylate decreased over $20^{\circ}C$, but that of the composite increased linearly with the temperature. The morphology of the composites stands for the good dispersion of MWNT into the polyacrylate matrix.

Flow Characteristics of 2 Dimensional Supersonic Nozzle in Overexpanded Conditions (2차원 초음속 노즐의 과대팽창 유동 특성)

  • In the modern propulsion systems, requited thrust is obtained using a nozzle. Sometimes shock and induced boundary layer separation is generated in an over-expanded convergent-divergent supersonic nozzle. It occurs because the nozzle expansion ratio is too large for a given nozzle pressure ratio (NPR). This phenomenon can be explained that it redefines effective nozzle geometry, shorer nozzle geometry and lower pressure ratio, in a given pressure ratio. Numerical studies were conducted about a fixed geometry 2D nozzle in overexpanded condition and compared with Hunter's experimental result. For the numerical simulation of the supersonic nozzle, Navier-Stokes equations are considered and as a turbulent model, $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ /$\kappa$-$\omega$ blended SST two equation turbulent model is used. The characteristics of $\lambda$-shape shock systems due to the interaction of shock and boundary layer was investigated in a low NPR. And the result of comparison of thrust value shows that a fixed geometry nozzle can cover required flight mission.

Effectiveness Analysis of Fire Extinguishing Agents for Metal Waste Fires (금속화재 대응 시 간이소화용구 및 약제의 소화 효과성 분석)

  • Purpose: Metal fires occur in metal handling, processing, waste storage plants, etc. It is difficult for firefighters to extinguish metal fires, and it takes a long time, so caution is needed in fire suppression. Method: In this study, current statistics and problems of metal fires were introduced, and then the effectiveness was verified by experiments with using fire extinguishing agents used in Korea. Comparative suppression experiments of 5 different fire extinguishing agents for burning powders of 99.9% magnesium over 150 ㎛ were performed following the metal powder type test method of Class D fire in ISO 7165. Result: 5 fire extinguishing agents are the power types of dry sands and expanded vermiculites most commonly used in Korea, the certified class D fire extinguisher used abroad, and ochers requiring verification, and the liquid silica gel. Conclusion: The results of experiments showed expanded vermiculites were the best metal fire extinguishing agent considering effectiveness, convenience of use, and economical feasibility.

  • 최근 급속히 팽창된 산업 구조와 이에 따른 업무량의 증가는 종래의 관리기술로서는 이를 성공적으로 처리할 수 없게 되었으며 아울러 인간의 미래조작능력의 증대와 기업구상력의 개발, 사회변동에 대비한 예측적인 계획의 수립 등 관리기능의 신장은 새로운 관리기법을 요구하게 되었으므로 PERT/CPM 수법이 신관리기법의 하나로 등장하게 되었다. PERT/CPM 이란 Program Evaluation Review and Technique, Critical Path Method 의 약자로서 우리말로는 계획수립 집행 및 평가로 번역되는데 이의 직역은 종속 및 총합 $\ulcorner$시스템$\lrcorner$ 과업의 동시진행 및 집중관리라 할 수 있는 것으로 시간과 비용을 절감하려는 기법인 것이다. 또한 PERT 기법은 복잡한 작업형태를 상호관련성있는 Network로 구성하고 제종속작업을 하나의 통일된 목표로 진행시키는 것을 의미한다. 이와 같은 PERT/CPM 기법은 제한된 자원의 효율적인 투자 및 관리와 불필요한 시간과 비용을 제거하여 준다. 현재 정부(경제기획원)는 PERT/CPM 제도를 도입하여 건설공사에 대한 예산관리제도를 설정중에 있으며 민간 및 정부투자기관으로서 현대건설주식회사와 한국전력주식회사와 이미 PERT/CPM 제도화방책을 연구기관에 위촉하여 제2단계적용을 시도하고 있는 것은 시대적 당위성에 따른 타당한 전망이라 하겠다. 거금 한국양회공업협회가 본제도의 도입 적용을 추진하기 위한 일련의 조사활동을 시작한 것은 시멘트 공업계의 새로운 경영관리체제를 모색하고 업계를 선도하는 중요한 전환점이 되리라 믿는다.

  • Thermo-mechanical behavior of discontinuous shape memory alloy(SMA) reinforced polymeric composite has been studied using modified shear lag theory and finite element(FE) analysis with 2-D multi-fiber model. The aligned and staggered models of short-fiber arrangement are employed. The effects of fiber overlap and aspect ratio on the thermomechanical responses such as the thermal expansion coefficient are investigated. It is found that the increase of both tensile stress(resistance stress) in SMA fiber and compressive stress in polymer matrix with increasing aspect ratio is the main cause of low thermal deformation of the composite.

  • We report here on a very rare case of granulocytic sarcoma of the pectoralis muscle on the left chest wall of a patient with chronic myelogenous leukemia, and this malady presented as a very rapidly growing hematoma-like mass.
