Concept and Expression Method of 'Fun' Presented in Fashion Design (패션디자인에서'재미'의 개념과 표현방식)

  • As a fresh trial using humorous items to escape from economic recession and uncertain state of mind regarding politics and society, fun is emerging as a keyword in design area. This study classified various use of fun reflected in modern fashion design according to the theme, and analyzed the mod of expression to identify formative characteristics. Through these processes, this study built conceptual structure of fun in fashion design. 412 fashion designs which represent fun were collected from 2001 $S/S{\sim}2005$ F/W collections. Data were analyzed and categorized. Results showed that the theme of fun in the modern fashion design could be classified into humor, kidult, irony, satire/parody, storytelling, and play. The design elements mainly used were color silhouette, letter, object, and drawing, while the design principles were distortion/exaggeration, incongruity, and repetition. In addition, these expressions were related to the traditional humor theory: incongruity-resolution, superior, and relief theories. The fun in modern fashion design has such value as affirmation, warmness, entertainment, youth, contradiction, surprise, deviate, allusion, attack, and description, Finally, in regard to the subject, the fun provides active experience like play as well as passive acceptance.

  • 스마트웨어가 사용자 중심으로 다변화 되어가는 유비쿼터스 환경속에서 상황정보를 제공하는 것은 서비스 전략의 중요한 성공요소가 되고 있다. 상황인식은 현실의 상황을 정보화하고 이를 활용하여 지능화된 개인화 서비스를 제공하는 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 상황인식을 이용한 맞춤형 패션 디자인 스타일 추천을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 사용자에게 자신의 선호도에 부합하는 패션 디자인 스타일을 제공함으로써 이를 얻기 위한 시간과 비용을 줄여주고, 손쉽게 원하는 스타일에 접근하도록 한다. 상황인식은 개인화 서비스에 필요한 상황정보를 추출하고 분류한다. 그리고 상황인식 기반의 필터링으로 패션 디자인 스타일 추천을 함으로 사용자에게 보다 다양한 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 이를 사용자 인터페이스로 구축하여 논리적 타당성과 유효성을 검증하기 위해 실험적인 적용을 시도하고자 한다.

Representation Contents of Basic Design Elements in Patterns of Fashion Design (패션디자인의 문양에 있어서 기초조형요소의 표현내용)

  • This paper aims to study the representation of basic design elements in patterns of fashion design by analyzing the examples and trends of how basic design elements have been represented in major collections of fashion designers, thereby contribute to enhancing the awareness of the importance of basic design elements in the field of fashion design education. In order to accomplish this goal, utilizing the fundamental concepts and principles of basic design elements, we have analyzed the examples and trends of representation of basic design elements, focusing on the design works of fashion designers from the 2000 collections to the 2010 collections that can be viewed to have been directly inspired by three basic design elements. The result of the analysis shows that there was a popular trend of emphasizing basic design elements as a design motif particularly from the 2000 s/s collections to the 2004 s/s collections. In these collections, we have found a wide range of design works that were inspired by the three basic design elements of dots, lines, and faces. Designers such as Jil Sander, Bill Blass, ..., etc. produced diverse designs that emphasized dots with various feeling of space, weight and texture. The collections by I.S.Suano Kuwahar, ..., etc. were based on the concept of coordinating the design element of lines with various textures. Vestium Officina, Loewe, ..., etc. produced the designs where faces were divided by lines in various ways and various forms of faces were decorated with diverse colors.

  • The current global spread of communal residential culture and the trend of continuing increase of newly built apartment environment are increasing the demand of home network products for each residential space and among households. The continuing advancement of ubiquitous and the introduction and development of home network system are promoting the demand for the product design. The residential culture change and the apartment interior design change are having mutual effects on the lifestyle of residents and the product design and demand new product design. Coordination with interior products, interior style and products, product and fashion design and reconstruction and fusion between the products and their element factors are the core element of this design study. Based on this, integrated design strategy and concept research and analysis were studied for the design process, and have been expressed in three dimension design through which the design functionality and the external aesthetical design can correspond to each other. It's because the aspect of the future development prospect can be predicted in detail by presenting practical design plan.

A Study on the Evaluation of Fashion Design Based on Big Data Text Analysis -Focus on Semantic Network Analysis of Design Elements and Emotional Terms- (빅데이터 텍스트 분석을 기반으로 한 패션디자인 평가 연구 -디자인 속성과 감성 어휘의 의미연결망 분석을 중심으로-)

  • This study derives evaluation terms by analyzing the semantic relationship between design elements and sentiment terms in regards to fashion design. As for research methods, a total of 38,225 texts from Daum and Naver Blogs from November 2015 to October 2016 were collected to analyze the parts, frequency, centrality and semantic networks of the terms. As a result, design elements were derived in the form of a noun while fashion image and user's emotional responses were derived in the form of adjectives. The study selected 15 noun terms and 52 adjective terms as evaluation terms for men's striped shirts. The results of semantic network analysis also showed that the main contents of the users of men's striped shirts were derived as characteristics of expression, daily wear, formation, and function. In addition, design elements such as pattern, color, coordination, style, and fit were classified with evaluation results such as wide, bright, trendy, casual, and slim.

  • 본 논문의 국내 패션 업체에서 상품기획 과정 중 많은 시간과 노력을 투자해야 했던 디자인 및 패턴 자료를 데이터베이스화하여 key word를 통해 효율적으로 찾아 사용할 수 있도록 한 디지털 여성 자켓 분류 데이터베이스 시스템을 개발하고자 실시되었다. 이를 위해 의류업체 종사자 48명과 의류학 전공 대학원생 54명, 패턴 전문가 11명을 대상으로 설문조사 및 인터뷰를 실시하여 디자인 및 패턴의 분류 기준과 의류 생산기획 업무의 디지털화 가능성을 검토하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 국내 의류업체에서는 상품기획시 국외패션잡지와 collection지를 가장 많이 활용하고 있었으며, 디자인 및 패턴 DB 프로그램에 대한 효용성 기대와 수용도 기대에는 집단간 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 여성 자켓 디자인 DB를 위한 구성요소 분류 기준은 7가지고 선정되었고, 이미지 형용사 분류 기준은 6가지로 선정되었다. 또한 자켓 제작을 위한 block pattern 분류 기준은 4가지로 선정되었다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 자켓 디자인 선택 프로그램의 모델을 제시한 후 실험 참가자들에게 효용성 및 사용가능성을 다시 검증한 결과, 프로그램 제시 전 조사결과보다 유의하게 긍정적으로 평가되었으며, 데이터베이스 자료 활용시 이미지 형용사를 통한 검색보다는 구성요소를 통한 검색에 더 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.

A Study of 3D Digital Fashion Design Using Kazmir Malevich's Formative Elements as AI Prompt (카지미르 말레비치의 조형적 요소를 AI 프롬프트로 활용한 3D 디지털 패션디자인 연구)

  • Image-generated AI is rapidly emerging as a powerful tool to augment human creativity and transform the art and design process through deep learning capabilities. The purpose of this study was to propose and demonstrate the feasibility of a new design development method that combined traditional design methods and technology by constructing image-generated AI prompts based on artists' formative elements. The study methodology consisted of analyzing Kazmir Malevich's theoretical considerations and applying them to AI prompts for design, print pattern development, and 3D digital design. This study found that the suprematist works of Kazmir Malevich were suitable as design and print pattern prompts due to their clear geometric shapes, colors, and spatial arrangement. The AI-prompted designs and print patterns produced diverse results quickly and enabled an efficient design process compared to traditional methods, although additional refinement was required to perfect the details. The AI-generated designs were successfully produced as 3D garments, thereby demonstrating that AI technology could significantly contribute to fashion design through its integration with artistic principles. This study has academic significance in that it proposes a prompt composition method applicable to fashion design by combining AI and artistic elements. It also has industrial significance in that it contributes to design innovation and the implementation of creative ideas by presenting an AI-based design process that can be practically applied.

  • The study analyzed the effect of VMD components of virtual reality (VR) stores on the psychological effectiveness of technology acceptance. As a result of the analysis, among the VMD components of fashion virtual reality (VR) stores, experientiality, aesthetics, and suitability had a significant positive effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived enjoyment. There was no significant effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, or perceived enjoyment. The results of this study are significant in that they conducted an empirical study on the intention of use due to the VMD components of a fashion virtual reality (VR) store, which was rarely covered in previous studies on fashion virtual reality (VR) stores.

The characteristics of design elements in women's blue denim - Focusing on the 2019 S/S ~ 2023/24 F/W fashion collection - (디자인 요소에 따른 여성 블루 데님의 조형적 특성 - 2019 S/S ~ 2023/24 F/W 패션컬렉션을 중심으로 -)

  • This study was aimed at examining the characteristics of women's blue denim on the basis of design elements to provide fundamental data for fashion majors and fashion designers. Seven design elements were selected from previous studies to compare them with the following characteristics of blue denim: color (washing, dyeing), ornamentation (trimming, detailing, painting, and printing), and form modification, tearing, and ripping). Data from 1,520 photographs of the 2019 S/S to the 2023-24 F/W collections were collected through overlapping checks. The data were then subjected to frequency analysis using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (version 26). The results are as follows: The most frequent design method used in producing the denim items in our sample was washing, followed by modification, tearing, and ripping and detailing. The greatest change in denim design occurred in 2023, and more design element changes were observed in the F/W season than in the S/S season. Washing was used four times or more frequently than dyeing, while detailing was employed approximately 2 times more often than trimming. With respect to form, the most common approach was modification, followed by tearing and ripping.
