In this paper, We proposes FE-SM/SONN for recognizing blurred and smeared skid mark image caused by sudden braking of a vehicle. In a blurred and smeared skid marks, tread pattern image is ambiguous. To improve recognition of such image, FE-SM/SONN reads skid marks utilizing Fuzzy Logic and distinguishing tread pattern SONN(Self Organization Neural Networks) recognizer. In order to substantiate this finding, 48 tire models and 144 skid marks were compared and overall recognition ratio was 89%. This study showed 13.51% improved recognition compared to existing back propagation recognizer, and 8.78% improvement than FE-MCBP. The expected effect of this research is achieving recognition of ambiguous images by extracting distinguishing features, and the finding concludes that even when tread pattern image is in grey scale, Fuzzy Logic enables the tread pattern recognizable.

In this study, the ground motion was synthesized using the finite fault model by the stochastic green function method, and the difference in the ground motions was evaluated by using various values of the source parameters. An earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.5 was assumed for the example fault model. The distribution of the slip in the fault plane was calculated using the statistical data of the asperity area. The source parameters considered in this study were the location of the hypocenter in the fault plane and the ratio of the rupture to the shear wave velocity, the rise time, the corner frequency of the source spectrum, and a high frequency filter. The values of the parameters related to the stochastic element source model were adjusted for different tectonic regions, and the others were selected for several possible cases. The response spectra were constructed from the synthesized ground motion time history and compared with the different parameter values. The frequency range affected by each parameter and the differences of the spectral accelerations were evaluated.

In this paper, we designed a frequency synthesizer using DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) for Ka-band compact Radar. DDS is applied to generate various waveform and to cover high-speed frequency sweep. In order to reduce size, waveform generator and Ka band frequency up-converter are integrated in one module. Proposed frequency synthesizer provides LFM(Linear Frequency Modulation) waveform and Phase modulated FMCW (Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) waveform. It is observed that fabricated synthesizer performs $0.191{\mu}sec$ frequency switching time and -89.16 dBc/Hz phase noise at offset 1 kHz.
There have been various cohesion measurements studied considering reference relation among attributes and methods in a class. Generally, these cohesion measurement are camed out in one class. If the range of reference relation considered are extended from one class to two classes, we could find out the reference relation between two classes. Tn this paper, we proposed a neural network to determine the method location. Neural network is effective to predict output value from input data not to be included in training and generalize after training input and output pattern repeatedly. Learning vector is generated with 30-dimensional input vector and one target binary values of method location in a constraint that there are two classes which have less than or equal to 5 attributes and methods The result of the proposed neural network is about 95% in cross-validation and 88% in testing.

A new modulation technique - correlative encoded FSK (CEFSK) - for use in power and bandwidth limited digital communication system is proposed. CEFSK is free of ISI and generates output signals which have a smooth and continuous phase transition and a reduced envelope fluctuation by keeping correlation between amplitude and phases of two subsequent symbols. In comparison to conventional one-bit differential detected (1DD) GFSK, the performance of the 1DD-CEFSK in a non-linearly amplified (NLA) channel impaired by additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), ISI and IM, is analyzed via computer simulation. The simulation result shows that, in an NLA single-channel, 1DD-CEFSK provides a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) advantage of up to 1.2dB and 0.8dB at BER of $1{\times}10^{-4}$ when input back-off (IBO) of HPA is -1.0dB and -3.0dB, respectively. For the same channel environment with multi-channel, 1DD-CEFSK outperforms 1DD-GFSK by 1.1dB in SNR, regardless of the value of IBO.

Surface pressure distributions over the RAE-A wing-body configuration were investigated and the grid convergence along the streamwise, spanwise, and circumferential directions was numerically studied. Flow analysis in subsonic and transonic conditions was conducted using the $k-{\omega}$ Wilcox-Durbin+ turbulence model. Surface pressure distributions for subsonic flows were well matched, but those for transonic shocked flows showed a little discrepancy with the experimental data. A cubic spline extrapolation method was applied in order to investigate the grid convergence. This method presented that the grid resolution in the circumferential direction is the most important grid parameter. A refined grid system was made based on the grid convergence study and provided more accurate prediction, especially on the symmetric body surface of RAE-A configuration.

A structured grid system can be efficiently constructed by applying the patched-grid algorithm that alleviates many constraints of the conventional structured grid system. Three approaches were applied to case 4 of the EFD-CFD workshop: delta wing-cylindrical body shape to solve the existing grid generation problems and verify the results by comparing them with experimental data. Surface pressure distributions slightly differed from the experimental data at high angles of attack. The slope variation of the pitching moment with Mach number is analyzed and the variation can be explained with the tuck under phenomenon. In the supersonic region, the bow shock waves in front of the shape expand the region generating lift up to the rear of the configuration. Also, the tendency of the pitching moment with both Mach number and angle of attack was analyzed by comparing the positions of the center of pressure and the center of gravity.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the thermal damage characterization of a silicon wafer subjected to a CW laser beam. The variation in temperature and stress during laser beam irradiation has been predicted using a three-dimensional numerical model. The simulation results indicate that the specimen might crack when a 93-$W/cm^2$ laser beam is irradiated on the silicon wafer, and surface melting can occur when a 186-$W/cm^2$ laser beam is irradiated on the silicon wafer. In experiments, straight cracks in the [110] direction were observed for a laser irradiance exceeding 102 $W/cm^2$. Furthermore, surface melting was observed for a laser irradiance exceeding 140 $W/cm^2$. The irradiance for surface melting is less than that in the simulation results because multiple reflections and absorption of the laser beam might occur on the surface cracks, increasing the absorbance of the laser beam.

The ballistic range has long been employed in a variety of engineering fields such as high-velocity impact engineering, projectile aerodynamics, creation of new materials since it can create an extremely high-pressure state in very short time. Two-stage light gas gun is being employed most extensively. The present experimental study has been conducted to develop a new type of ballistic range which can easily perform a projectile simulation. The experiment is conducted to find out the dependence of various parameters on the projectile velocity. The pressure in high-pressure tube, pressure of diaphragm rupture and projectile mass and piston mass are varied to obtain various projectile velocities. The flow field is visualized to see flow around projectile.

In this paper, we propose a improved turbo equalizer which generates a feedback signal through a simple calculation to improve performance in single carrier system with the LMS(least mean square) algorithm based equalizer and LDPC(low density parity check) codes. LDPC codes can approach the Shannon limit performance closely. However, computational complexity of LDPC codes is greatly increased by increasing the repetition of the LDPC codes and using a long parity check matrix in harsh environments. Turbo equalization based on LDPC code is used for improvement of system performance. In this system, there is a disadvantage of very large amount of computation due to the increase of the repetition number. To less down the amount of this complicated calculation, The proposed improved turbo equalizer adjusts the adoptive equalizer after the soft decision and the LDPC code. Through the simulation results, it's confirmed that performance of improved turbo equalizer is close to the SISO-MMSE(soft input soft output minimum mean square error) turbo equalizer based on LDPC code with the smaller amount of calculation.
