Design review of fuel vent-relief valve (연료 벤트/릴리프 밸브의 설계 분석)

  • A vent-relief valve performs as a safety-valve assembly for liquid propellant feeding system of space launch vehicle, which relives pressurant propellant tanks during the filling and the flight. At vent mode, valve is opened and closed by driving pneumatic pressure, and at relief mode, valve is automatically operated to set relief pressure. In this study, we have analyzed a basic layout of vent-relief valve which is designed using foreign LVs(Saturn) to satisfy requirements of Korean Space Launch Vehicle. The simulation model of vent-relief valve is designed by using the AMESim code to verify design parameters and evaluate pneumatic behaviors of valve. In this study, we performed dynamic characteristic simulations on design parameters. And we could predict opening/closing time and pressures, operating performances on design parameters. Using this results, we could suggest detail design and boundary conditions of design.

Noisy Speech Recognition using Probabilistic Spectral Subtraction (확률적 스펙트럼 차감법을 이용한 잡은 환경에서의 음성인식)

  • This paper describes a technique of probabilistic spectral subtraction which uses the knowledge of both noise and speech so as to reduce automatic speech recognition errors in noisy environments. Spectral subtraction method estimates a noise prototype in non-speech intervals and the spectrum of clean speech is obtained from the spectrum of noisy speech by subtracting this noise prototype. Thus noise can not be suppressed effectively using a single noise prototype in case the characteristics of the noise prototype are different from those of the noise contained in input noisy speech. To modify such a drawback, multiple noise prototypes are used in probabilistic subtraction method. In this paper, the probabilistic characteristics of noise and the knowledge of speech which is embedded in hidden Markov models trained in clean environments are used to suppress noise. Futhermore, dynamic feature parameters are considered as well as static feature parameters for effective noise suppression. The proposed method reduced error rates in the recognition of 50 Korean words. The recognition rate was 86.25% with the probabilistic subtraction, 72.75% without any noise suppression method and 80.25% with spectral subtraction at SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio) 10 dB.

Derivation of Single Phase Material Properties Equivalent to 1-3 Piezoelectric Composites by the Resonant Method (공진법을 이용한 1-3형 압전복합체의 단일상 등가물성 도출)

  • Piezoelectric composites have been widely used in broadband acoustic transducers because of their lower acoustic impedance and higher electro-mechanical coupling factor. However, their complex structure has placed many limitations on the design of various transducers. This paper suggests the methodology to substitute the 1-3 piezocomposites by a single-phased material that has properties equivalent to those of the piezocomposites. The resonant method and finite element analysis (FEA) are used to derive the equivalent properties that can accurately depict resonant properties at various vibration modes of the piezocomposites. Validity of the suggested method is confirmed by comparing frequency characteristics of fabricated 1-3 piezocomposite specimens and FEA models. Further, accuracy of the derived material constants is checked by applying the equivalent properties to FEA models of the single phase material for various resonant modes.

  • Thanks to progressive development of IT technology, the number of intelligent devices communicating each other through an In-Vehicle Network(IVN) has been steadily increasing. It is expected that the required network bandwidth and network nodes for vehicle control in 2015 will be increased by two times and one and half times as compared to in 2010, respectively. As a result, many researchers in automotive industry has showed a significant interest on industrial Ethernets, such as EtherCAT and TTEthernet. This paper addresses an analysis on transmission delay and fault recovery performance with an EtherCAT network which is being considered as an IVN. A mathematical model based on the analysis is verified through a set of experiments using an experimental network setup.

  • The performance of power window system was decided by driving characteristics of the window regulator part and reaction by the glass run. The performance of power window system usually has been predicted by experimental methods. In this paper, an analytical method using the explicit code was suggested to overcome the limit of the experimental methods. The friction coefficient of glass run was obtained by the friction test at various conditions and the Mooney-Rivlin model was used. Also, a mechanism of window regulator consisted of the fast belt system and the slip ring elements. And, we conducted the analysis considering characteristic of a motor and obtained the lifting speed of automotive glass with high reliability

CCD Non-uniformity Correction Method based on Pixel Non-Linearity Model (픽셀 비선형성 모델을 기반으로 한 영상센서 불균일 특성 보정)

  • All pixels of image sensor do not react uniformly when the light of same radiance enters into the camera. This non-uniformity has a direct influence on the image quality. However we can overcome it by calibration process under the special test-setup. Usually it is used the algorithm to get the correction coefficients under the specific illumination condition. But, this method has drawback in the very low or very high illumination due to pixel non-linearity. This paper describes the robust algorithm, which calculates the correction coefficients based on the pixel non-linearity model, against thew hole radiance. The paper shows the non-uniformity test results with the own camera and the specified test equipments as well. The results shows the best performance over the entire radiance when this method is applied.

  • 최근 하천의 수위조절 기능을 수행하는 보 건설이 증대되고 있다. 보는 원활한 용수공급을 위해 필수적인 구조물이지만, 하천 횡단 구조물의 특성상 유사퇴적에 의한 통수단면적 감소, 홍수위험도 증가, 수질악화 등의 문제를 내포하고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 유사시 유사배출이 가능하고 수문개도를 통한 통수단면적 조절로 홍수위험도를 감소시킬 수 있는 가동보를 고정보와 병용해서 적용하는 추세이다. 가동보는 수문 운영 방식에 따라 하류의 흐름상태가 다양하게 나타나며, 흐름 상태에 따라 하도 및 구조물에 미치는 영향도 달라진다. 그러나 기존 가동보 및 보 하류 구조물의 설계 시 일반적으로 수문 운영조건을 고려하지 않고, 홍수위 조건을 최악조건으로 고려하는 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 수치모델(FLOW-3D)을 활용하여 가동보의 운영에 따라 발생하는 다양한 흐름조건이 보 하류에 미치는 영향을 검토하고자 한다. 수치모델의 검증을 위해 기존 수행된 수리실험과의 비교를 수행하였고, 홍수위 조건(수문 전문개도) 및 관리수위 조건(수문 일부개도)에서 수치모의를 수행하였다. 보 상류, 직하류, 도수종점에서 발생하는 단면최대유속, 바닥전단 응력, Froude 수 등의 수리특성을 분석하였고, 상하류간 수심차와 수문개도높이의 비와 접근유속과 보 직하류에서 유출되는 유속의 비로 무차원화하여 관계를 분석하였다. 또한 홍수위 조건과 관리수위 조건에서 발생하는 수리특성을 비교함으로써, 보 하류부 구조물 설계 시 반영할 최악조건을 예측하고, 수문운영이 하류부에 미칠 수 있는 영향을 가시적으로 확인할 수 있었다. 향후 상류의 유량조건 및 상하류 수위차에 따른 가동보의 운영조건이 보 하류의 안정성 지표산정에 활용될 수 있기 위해 보다 심도있는 연구 수행이 필요하다.

A Numerical Analysis on Effect of Baffles in a Stirred Vessel (교반탱크에서 베플 형상의 영향에 관한 수치 해석적 연구)

  • The flow characteristics in a stirred tank are very useful in a wide variety of industrial applications. Generally, the flow pattern, power consumption and mixing time in stirred vessels depend not only on the design of the impeller, but also on the tanks' geometry and internal structure. In this study, the analysis of an unstable and unsteady complicated flow characteristics generated by the interaction between the baffle shape and impeller were performed using the ANSYS FLUENT LES Turbulence Model. The study compared the predictions of CFD with the interaction between two types of rotating impellers (axial and radial flows) and the shapes of three baffles. The results of the comparison verified that the design model showed a relatively efficient trend in the mixing flow fields and characteristics around the impeller and baffles during agitation.

A Study on Conversational AI Agent based on Continual Learning

  • In this paper, we propose a conversational AI agent based on continual learning that can continuously learn and grow with new data over time. A continual learning-based conversational AI agent consists of three main components: Task manager, User attribute extraction, and Auto-growing knowledge graph. When a task manager finds new data during a conversation with a user, it creates a new task with previously learned knowledge. The user attribute extraction model extracts the user's characteristics from the new task, and the auto-growing knowledge graph continuously learns the new external knowledge. Unlike the existing conversational AI agents that learned based on a limited dataset, our proposed method enables conversations based on continuous user attribute learning and knowledge learning. A conversational AI agent with continual learning technology can respond personally as conversations with users accumulate. And it can respond to new knowledge continuously. This paper validate the possibility of our proposed method through experiments on performance changes in dialogue generation models over time.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of run-up height over sandy beach due to the shape of submerged breakwater. For the discussion on it in detail, 3-Dimensional numerical model with Large Eddy Simulation, which is able to simulate directly interaction of Wave Structure Sandy beach (hereafter, LES-WASS-3D; Hur and Lee, 2007) has been used to simulate run-up height over sandy beach as well as wave field around submerged breakwaters. Using the results obtained from numerical simulation, the effects of the shape of submerged breakwaters (crown height, crown width, crown length and submerged breakwater's slope gradient) on run-up height over sandy beach have been discussed related to the wave height distribution and characteristics of up-layer flow around ones.
