Analysis of Axial and Transverse Slip Displacements during the Oscillation of a Supported Tube (튜브진동 시 지지부에서의 축.횡방향 미끄럼변위 분석)

  • Slip displacement is brought into focus to study the tube fretting wear that occurs on the contact by the springs. An oscillating tube was in contact with plate support springs. The contact condition was varied as normal force 5 N, and gaps of 0.1 and 0.2 mm in the experiment. The oscillation range of the tube was also varied as 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.7 mm. Formulas for predicting the slip displacement range were derived in terms of the vibration amplitudes measured during the tube oscillation. It was found that the slip displacement in transverse direction was much higher ($720{\sim}33000$ times) than that in axial one. This resulted in the severer wear on the contact suffered from transverse slip.

Effects of Pitch on Pool Boiling from Horizontal Tube Array (피치가 수평 튜브 배열의 풀비등에 미치는 영향)

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the combined effects of the pitch and heat flux of nearby tubes on boiling in a pool as well as the heat transfer from a horizontally-installed tube bundle. For this test, two smooth stainless steel tubes (19 mm outside diameter) were used, and the water was at atmospheric pressure. The pitch of these tubes was varied between 28.5 mm and 95 mm, and the heat flux of the nearby tube altered between 0 and $90kW/m^2$. Enhancements in heat transfer were clearly observed when the heat flux of the nearby tube increased while the heat flux of the test section remained below $40kW/m^2$. The tube pitch was found to have a negligible effect on heat transfer when the pitch was greater than four times larger than the tube diameter. The circulating flow, convective flow, and liquid agitation were all seen to enhance heat transfer; however, the interaction between the flow and coalescence of bubbles was detrimental to heat transfer.

A Study on the Shape and Cone Resistance of Dredged Fill in Geotextile Tube under Water and Drained Conditions (준설토의 퇴적형상과 수침조건에 따른 토목섬유 튜브 내 준설토의 콘 저항치에 관한 연구)

  • A series of tests were conducted to examine the filled tube shape with respect to the filling module type used and to investigate cone resistance properties of a dredged-soil-filled geotextile tube under water and drained conditions. Results based on the filling observation showed that the distribution of the accumulated fills inside the acrylic cell and vinyl tubes differs with respect to the type of filling modules. A crater formation around the inlet area was found during the test using I-type filling module and a horizontal sediment distribution was found during the test using inverse T-Type filling module. The dredged fill material was obtained from the Saemangeum area. The geotextile tube deformation of each filling stage was almost converged when the tube was fully drained. The cone resistance of the dredged fill in the geotextile tube under drained condition is large and is approximately 2~6 times that of the tube under water condition.

  • 튜브 내의 입구영역에서 난류 유동에 의한 대류와 비회복사(non-gray radiation)가 동시에 일어날 때의 열전달특성을 수치해석적으로 연구하였다. 작동유체는 이산화탄소, 수증기, 질소의 혼합가스라고 가정하였다. 지배방정식을 계산하기 위해 유한차분법이 이용되었고, 복사전달방정식을 이차편미분방정식으로 바꾸기 위해 P-1 근사법이 사용되었다. 그리고 혼합가스의 비회흡수계수(non-gray absorption coefficient)는 지수광폭밴드모형(exponential wide band model)을 이용해서 구하였다. 열전달특성에 대한 온도조건의 영향을 조사하기 위해 튜브의 축방향에 대한 평균 온도와 뉴셀트수(Nusselt number)의 변화를 몇 가지 다른 온도조건에 대해 나타내었다. 또한, 가스의 성분조성에 대한 영향을 조사하였으며, 이러한 결과에 기초해서 튜브 내에서 난류유동에 의한 대류와 비화복사가 동시에 일어날 때의 복사 뉴셀트수를 쉽게 예측할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다.

Experimental Investigation of the Combined Effects of Heat Exchanger Geometries on Nucleate Pool Boiling Heat Transfer in a Scaled IRWST (열교환기 형상이 축소한 IRWST 내부의 풀핵비등에 미치는 복합적인 영향에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In an effort to determine the combined effects of major parameters of heat exchanger tubes on the nucleate pool boiling heat transfer in the scaled in-containment refueling water storage tank (IRWST), a total of 1,966 data for q'quot; versus ${\Delta}T$ has been obtained using various combinations of tube diameters, surface roughness, and tube orientations. The experimental results show that (1) increased surface roughness enhances heat transfer for both horizontal and vertical tubes, (2) the two heat transfer mechanisms, i.e.,enhanced heat transfer for both horizontal and vertical tubes, (2) the two heat transfer mechanisms, i.e., enhanced heat transfer due to liquid agitation by bubbles generated and reduced heat transfer by the formation of large vapor slugs and bubble coalescence are different in two regions of low heat fluxes (q'quot; $\leq$50kW/$m^2)$ and high heat fluxes (q'quot; $\geq$50kW/$m^2)$ depending on the orientation of tubes and the degree of surface roughness, and (3) the heat transfer rate decreases as the tube diameter is increased for both horizontal and vertical tubes, but the effect of tube diameter on the nucleate pool boiling heat transfer for vertical tubes is greater than that for horizontal tubes. Two empirical heat transfer correlations for q'quot;, one for horizontal tubes and the other for vertical tubes, are obtained in terms of surface roughness $({\varepsilon})$ and tube diameter (D). Study on Axial Crushing Behaviors of UD Kevlar/Epoxy with Different Trigger Models (트리거 모델에 따른 일방향 케블라/에폭시 복합재 튜브의 축방향 압괴 거동 연구)

  • In this paper, in order to develop a realistic trigger model for a unidirectional Kevlar/Epoxy tube, the numerical model has been established and then verified by comparison with the experimental result. To achieve this goal, four different trigger models were candidated and evaluated using the commercial explicit FE code LS-DYNA. In the finite element analysis, the 2D shell element and Chang-Chang failure criterion was used. Mechanical material properties for the model were obtained by material testing in advance. The numerical results were compared with quasi-static test results under axial compressive loading at 10mm/min. The load-crushed displacement curves were very close to the experiments and SEA (specific energy absorption) showed a good agreement with experimental one within less than 5%.

An Experimental Test for Air-tightness Performance Evaluation of Cracked Concrete Vacuum Tube Structures (콘크리트 진공튜브의 균열 발생에 따른 기밀성능 평가 실험)

  • Super-speed vacuum tube system, where the air resistance is minimized to obtain high speed of the vehicle, is considered to be a viable alternative transportation system. Air-tightness is one of the most important design requirements of the system, because the internal pressure of the system needs to be maintained significantly lower than the atmospheric pressure. This study performed an experimental test, where a series of concrete tube specimens were applied by external loads to induce cracks and the effective air-permeability of the cracked tube structures were measured. The test results indicates that the information on the length and the width of the load-induced cracks are not enough to anticipate the system air-tightness, whereas the load-induced displacement has higher correlation with the systems air-tightness. Based on these results, a direction of future research for effect of the load-induced cracks on the system air-tightness is suggested.

  • The CNTFET, which is attracting attention as a next-generation semiconductor device, can obtain ballistic or near-ballistic transport at a lower voltage than that of conventional MOSFETs by depositing CNTs between the source and drain of the device. In order to increase the performance of the CNTFET, a large number of CNTs must be deposited at a high density in the CNTFET. Thus, various manufacturing processes to increase the density of the CNTs have been developed. Recently, the Directional Shrinking Transfer Method was developed and showed that the current density of the CNTFET device could be increased up to 150 uA/um. So, this method enhances the possibility of implementing a CNTFET-based integrated circuit. In this paper, we will discuss how to evaluate the performance of the CNTFET device compared to a MOSFET at the circuit level when the CNTFET is fabricated by the Directional Shrinkage Transfer Method.

An Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Temperature Distribution in Internal Space of a Tube for the Formal Change of Counterflow Type Vortex Tube (대향류형 보텍스 튜브의 노즐형상 변화011 따른 튜브 내부의 온도분포에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to provide fundamental informations that make it possible to use a cool stream and a hot stream simultaneously. We changed the pressure of compressed air that flows into a tube, the inner diameter of orifice that a cold stream exits, and the mass flow rate ratio. And in each case, we measured the temperature of a cold stream and a hot stream in each exit of a tube. Also we measured the axial and the radial temperature distribution in internal spare of a tube. From the study, fellowing conclusive remarks 7an be made. First, As the number of nozzles increase, separation point move into the hot exit. Second, When we use guide vane type nozzle, the axial temperature distribution constant over the 0.75 of air mass flow rate radio. Third, When we use Spiral type nozzle, axial and radial temperature distribution in the inner space is higher than another nozzle. Fourth, Axial and radial temperature distribution in the inner space vortex-tube is determined by separation point. And separation point is moved by changing of air mass flow rate ratio. At last, A heating apparatus is possible far vortex-tube to use.

An Investigation of Acoustic Excitation on Sooting Diffusion Flame (Soot 배출 확산 화염에 대한 음향 가진 효과 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 soot을 배출하는 층류 확산 화염에 대한 음향 가진(acoustic excitation) 효과에 대해 연구하였다. 최근의 연구결과는 soot 배출 화염에 음향 가진을 작용시키면 radiation은 증가하고 soot 배출은 감소한다는 사실을 밝혀주었다. 음향 속도(acoustic velocity)는 음향 압력(acoustic pressure)과 900 상(phase) 차이가 있기 때문에 acoustic driver를 장착한 유리 튜브 내부의 축방향으로 soot을 배출하는 아세틸렌 확산 화염을 이동시킴으로서 soot 배출 감소에 대한 음향 속도와 음향 압력의 상대적인 중요도를 밝혀낼 수 있다. Soot을 배출하는 아세틸렌 화염에 soot 배출이 멈출 때까지 음향 가진을 작용시키고 유리 튜브 안의 최대 압력 위치에서 음향 압력을 측정하며, 화염 위치의 음향 속도와 음향압력은 운동량 방정식과 파동 방정식을 통해 계산된다. 실험 결과 음향 속도가 최대이고 음향 압력이 최소인 위치에서 보다 음향 속도가 최소이고 음향 압력이 최대인 위치에서 훨씬 더 큰 acoustic power가 필요함을 보여주었다. Soot 배출을 멈추는데 필요한 음향 속도의 크기는 유리 튜브의 축방향에 대해 거의 일정한 반면 음향 압력의 크기는 상당한 변화가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 Soot 배출의 감소가 주로 음향 속도에 의한 것임을 강하게 시사한다고 할 수 있다. 또한 연료의 유량이 증가함에 따라 soot 배출을 억제하는데 필요한 acoustic power도 증가한다는 사실을 확인 할 수 있었다.
