An Analysis of Reciprocal Borrowing Programs in the U.S. (미국의 통합대출서비스 사례 조사 및 분석)

  • As today's information environment changes rapidly with the development of information technology, users expect a variety of the library services that meet their emerging needs. This paper reports the concept of reciprocal borrowing and analyzes the cases of reciprocal borrowing programs in the US. Particularly, this paper introduces (1) three cases of state-wide library cards such as Georgia's PINES card, Maryland's MPower card, and Michigan's Michi card. (2) Public library systems in the U.S. also are introduced as a type of reciprocal borrowing. Another type of reciprocal borrowing mentioned in this paper was (3) an mutual agreement between and among libraries. The author sought the deeper understanding of reciprocal borrowing by mapping the cases described in this paper into three models of reciprocal borrowing Kwak et al.(2010) suggested. This paper concludes with a few important considerations in implementing reciprocal borrowing services in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the problems of the reciprocal borrowing service in Korea and to develop the reciprocal borrowing model. Using interview and survey method were used for collecting data. Results show that public librarian had positive thought about reciprocal borrowing service and there were many problems to solve before operating the service. Main problems were: leaking of private information, responsibility of lost materials, budget and staff, borrowing regulation, non-competitive libraries. Also three reciprocal borrowing system models were introduced: integrated system model, distributed system model, and reciprocal arrangement model.

Circulation Trends of a Public Library during the Covid-19 Era: An Analysis of Circulation Statistics of A Public Library from 2019 to 2021 (코로나 시대의 공공도서관 대출 추이에 관한 연구 - A 공공도서관의 2019~2021 대출 통계 분석을 중심으로 -)

  • This study examines circulation status and trends of a public library during three year periods from January 2019 to December 2021. There was a statistically significant difference in the mean number of circulation between the pre-Covid-19 period and the Covid-19 period, and the Covid-19 period and the Covid-19 recovery period. However, no significant difference was found between the pre-Covid-19 period and the Covid-19 recovery period. Across three years, there was a significant difference in the distribution of circulation per month. Circulation distribution was also significantly different among different days of the week and different hours of the day. Monthly circulation distribution and hourly circulation distribution during the pre-Covid-19 period was similar to those of the Covid-19 recovery period, whereas those of the Covid-19 period differed from the pre-Covid-19 period and the Covid-19 recovery period. It is expected that the results of this study could contribute to the collection development, and the management and improvement of services of public libraries. It is also expected that the results of this study could contribute to the prediction of circulation patterns and information needs of public library users.

A Research on the Feasibility of Establishing the National Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme for Academic Libraries in Korea (우리나라 대학도서관의 국가대출체계 구축에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of establishing the national reciprocal borrowing scheme for academic libraries in Korea. The national or regional borrowing schemes could be operated to further the resource sharing among academic libraries as an alternative or supplement to ILL. In this research, the characteristics of those borrowing schemes in other countries are discussed, and some strategic plans, including the organization in charge and the operating principles, are suggested for the national borrowing scheme in Korea.

  • In this paper, we propose the method of integrating the Book Lending Management System running either on local and web to develop Enterprise Application in distributed environment more easily and quickly using Sun's EJB based on the lava. We integrate the Book Lending Management System which is operated separately using EJB. And, by designing and implementing the Book Lending Management System separately according to its functions, it can reduce the cost of maintenance and repair. At all platforms where the Internet, Book Lending service is possible, because it provide Web based interface with JSP. Then, we can get platform independent implementation using EJB and JSP..

  • This study is to analyze the applicability of new technologies to be applied to the foreseeable future's library. For this purpose, we measured the users' intention to accept the service by using the NFC based self-check out service as a new technology applicable to the library. Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance Use of Technology (UTAUT), research models were derived, and the structural relationships between performance expectations, effort expectations, facilitation conditions, and perceived risks were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, perceived threats in the library did not affect the intention to use, and the performance expectation, effort expectation, and facilitation condition partially affected the intention to use. The gender of the moderator variable, there were some significant difference in promoting conditions.

  • 최근 디지털 기술의 발전은 금융산업에 커다란 변화를 가져왔다. 디지털 기술의 도입으로 다양한 금융상품이 출현하게 되었고, 업무 프로세스의 개선을 가져왔으며, 금융기관을 이용하는 고객의 채널을 다양화시켰다. 본 연구는 우선 온라인 금융에 있어 계좌이체, 온라인 대출과 같은 기본적인 기능과 계좌통합, 자산관리 등의 새로운 기능을 분류하고, 각 기능을 이용하는 고객들이 어떠한 서비스품질의 자원을 중요하게 고려하는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 따라서. 온라인 금융을 기본적인 관점과 서비스 품질 관점의 두 가지 범주로 나누어 고객만족도 상승에 영향을 미치는 요인을 단계적으로 파악해 내는데 주안점을 두었다. 본 연구의 자료는 금융기관에서 온라인 금융서비스를 제공할 때 중요한 기능 서비스품질을 효과적으로 도출해 내는데 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Characteristics of Integrated Search Services in Public Libraries in Korea: Focusing on the Integrated Libraries of Local Autonomous Entities of Seoul City (우리나라 공공도서관의 통합검색 서비스 특성에 관한 연구: 서울시 자치구 통합도서관을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the integrated search services for integrated libraries operated by local governments in Korea. The target of analysis was integrated libraries operated by 25 local governments in Seoul, and the analysis elements were selected from service functions in 12 areas related to integrated search. The results of the study are as follows. First, the integrated library is an association of public libraries and small libraries in autonomous districts and provides integrated search services. The provided integrated search service function, types of bibliographic information, and facets are not diverse. Second, the records in the search results were mostly item types, not title types. Third, enrichment information supplementing book information consists of book introductions, related information, book-related keywords, and loan-related information. Fourth, integrated search shows the form of integrated OPAC based on integrated catalog DB rather than discovery-type search. It concentrates on providing an integrated search for catalog DBs distributed in public libraries or small libraries in the autonomous district. Fifth, most integrated libraries provide similar service types. Based on these results, improvement plans were proposed for domestic public libraries to expect discovery-type integrated search services.

With most major full service banks having launched transactional Internet banking, attention is shifting to the realities of managing the Internet channel as a profitable component of an overall delivery strategy. In addition to examining Case Study and Internet Bank Model. Services of Internet Banking available through the Internet are as follows. 1. credit card loans, personal loans. 2. high-yield financial products. 3. insurance products. 4. securities products. 5. The study reviewed fields, including financial services, customer service, Website formation and design, convenience of use and system safety, Internet Banking Model, and many related areas. Internet Banking earned high marks in most fields. This Study review focuses on the following: Understanding and meeting consumer expectations for us ability, site performance and functionality. Integrating the Internet channel into overall marketing, product delivery and customer service strategies.   • Ubiquitous computing technology provides anytime and anywhere accessibility to information, ubiquitous computing is adapted in the various field to increase efficiency of work. After looking into the trend of ubiquitous computing, case studies of information service using mobile service and RFID system in library were investigated in this paper. Library information service are providing retrieval of library OPAC and verifications of circulation and return date using mobile internet technology. In addition, various notice services using short me sage service(SMS) of mobile are available. Considering growing mobile service and RFID system advancement of related technology, more information service utilizing mobile service and RFID system should be developed in near future.
