  • Besides the imposition of taxes and mandatory actions, why in a special rules needed in the contract between state and civilians. The contract between the state and civilian are unlike with civilian's contract in the comparable effect, even if the effect of the agreement and the parties bear the structural nature of the self-other agreement between private economic actors and there are a variety of different specificity. In other words, the agents of the contract with the state government for control of opportunistic behavior are very specific rules exist. Through this, even if it is the relationship between state and non-mandatory private realms of the contract, even if the area forced me to the fact that the difference can be confirmed. Representative of the government of the country to understand the delegate decisions and judgments and other opportunistic behavior always seem to exist on the possibility of such devices for the pre-control needed.

  • Battle Management Language (BML) is defined as an unambiguous language intended to provide for command and control of simulated and live forces in U.S. It has been developed to connect between command and control system and Modeling & Simulation in the U.S., including NATO M&S Working Group. Its goal is to provide situational awareness and offer a path forward for interoperation of C2 systems and simulations. This study deals with BML development in U.S. that begins from army and is being expanded in multinational environment. It also proposes the BML application for C4I and M&S interoperation in the Korean forces. Recent developments of BML in U.S. have shown the potential for interoperation between C2 systems and simulations in a coalition environment. Finally, this study proposes a general BML application method and shows the example of its application to the Korea Joint Command Control System (KJCCS). It provides an architecture and a milestone for BML application in the Korean forces.

  • Nuclear materials such as uranium are used as fuel for nuclear power generation, but there is a high possibility that they will be used for non-peaceful purposes, so international inspections and regulations are being conducted. Isotope analysis data of fine particulate obtained from nuclear facilities can provide important information on the origin and concentration method of nuclear material, so it is widely used in the field of nuclear safety and nuclear forensics. In this study we describe the analytical method that can directly identify nuclear particles and measure their isotopic ratios for fine samples using a large-geometry secondary ion mass spectrometer and introduce its preliminary results. Using the U-200 standard material, the location of fine particles was identified and the results consistent with the standard value were obtained through microbeam analysis.

  • Do animals have a mind? Our understanding about whether animals have minds depends on our relationship with animals, as we cannot determine animals' actual minds. These two studies presented here thus examined the meat paradox, that is, an inconsistency between love for animals and the act of enjoying eating meat in the context of mind perception. Study 1 examined whether mind perceptions toward various animals are classified on the basis of experience-related capacities, such as feeling pain, and agency-related capacities, such as having self-control. In Study 2, mind perceptions toward cows and sexually objectified women were classified on the basis of food condition and non-food condition. In the food condition (experimental condition), cows were portrayed as products for meat consumption, whereas in the control condition, they were described as animals living on a farm, eating grass. The results of Study 2 demonstrated revealed that mind perception was positively associated with how morally incorrect it was to eat animals. Study 2 thus demonstrated that the scores of mind perception toward cows and sexually objectified women in the experimental condition were significantly lower than those in the control condition. These reduced mind attribution in the experimental condition implied that people may be motivated to reduce cognitive dissonance between their attitudes toward animals, such as loving them, and their behaviors, such as, eating meat. In addition, these results suggest that objectification toward animals may impact the objectification and mind perception toward human beings as well. These findings highlight the role of dissonance reduction in the meat paradox and objectification theory so as to understand basic psychological processes involved while making moral choices in everyday life.

  • This paper is to conceptualize 'new urbanization' on the basis of a certain possibility of 'sustainable urbanization' in the capitalist society, while admitting some criticism on its possibility. For this purpose, first of all, this paper points out some economic and environmental difficulties in the Fordist regime of accumulation and the developmentalist strategies which have promoted the modem urbanization in the industrial society. Then, this paper examines the concept of 'sustainable development' which has been suggested to manage such problems in modem industrial cities, and explores its limitation that the application of this concept has been usually confined to some ex post facto - that is, weak sustainable development - strategies to resolve urban environmental problems. Finally, in order to overcome these problems both of developmentalism and of weak sustainable development, this paper conceptualize strong sustainable development for new urbanization and suggest urban environmental strategies for strong sustainable cities.

  • Adolescent delinquency is a substantial social problem that occurs in both offline and online domains. The current study utilized random forest algorithms to identify predictors of adolescents' online and offline delinquency. Further, we explored the applicability of classic delinquency theories (social learning, strain, social control, routine activities, and labeling theory). We used the first-grade and fourth-grade elementary school panels as well as the first-grade middle school panel (N=4,137) among the sixth wave of the nationally-representative Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2010 for analysis. Random forest algorithms were used instead of the conventional regression analysis to improve the predictive performance of the model and possibly consider many predictors in the model. Random forest algorithm results showed that classic delinquency theories designed to explain offline delinquency were also applicable to online delinquency. Specifically, salient predictors of online delinquency were closely related to individual factors(routine activities and labeling theory). Social factors(social control and social learning theory) were particularly important for understanding offline delinquency. General strain theory was the commonly important theoretical framework that predicted both offline and online delinquency. Findings may provide evidence for more tailored prevention and intervention strategies against offline and online adolescent delinquency.

  • This paper aims at analyzing the use of REITs for developing student housing. To do this, firstly, the case studies of student housing REITs in U.S. are analyzed, and secondly, possibility and schemes of using REITs in Korea for the expansion of student housing. REITs are actively participated in the investment and management of student housing in U.S. and they are vertically integrated real estate investment operating companies which play a role of design-development-investment-managementconsulting. Student housing REITs can be fully used in Korea. To do this, special strategy integrating investment and management strategy should be examined. In these context, joint-venture model and PPP-conbined model are suggested to use REITs effectively.

  • Recently, the importance of personal information security has emerged. In particular, the importance of biometrics such as voice recognition, fingerprint recognition, face recognition has been highlighted in various fields such as access control, banking security, personal PC security and so on. But if such conventional security techniques are likely to be recognized by an external factor failure. In contrast, if the vein recognition is impossible to copy and counterfeit. Therefore less likely to fail due to external factors has the advantage. In this paper, propose a preprocessing method to improve on the existing vein pattern recognition with high reliability than existing biometric technologies.

  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of instruction (explicit, implicit) and stimulus presentation time (300 ms, 500 ms) in ABM training. According to the Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SADS) and the attention bias score (ABS), 60 undergraduate students were selected. All participants' SADS scores were above 82 and their ABS score was greater than 0. The training group was explicit-300 ms training group (n=10), explicit-500 ms training group (n=10), implicit-300 ms training group (n=10) and implicit-500 ms training group (n=10). In the implicit instruction group, only information about procedure was included. In the explicit instruction group, additional information about training manipulation (the probe always presented at the location of the preceding neutral stimuli) was provided. The control group were placebo-300 ms control group(n=10) and placebo-500 ms control group(n=10). After 8 sessions of training, the effect was only found in instruction conditions. The explicit training group showed significantly decreased SADS after training. ABS changed significantly in all three conditions but the treatment effect was most effective in the explicit instruction condition. No significant effect was found in the stimulus presentation time. These results suggest that explicit instruction might promote the effect of ABM training compared to implicit instruction.

  • Recently, numerous studies have focused on the health effects of ambient particulate pollutants. Compared to earlier studios that focused on severe air pollution episodes, recent studies are more relevant to understanding the health effects of air pollution at levels common to contemporary cities. We reviewed recent epidemiologic studies that evaluated health effects of particulate air pollution and concluded that respirable particulate air pollution is an important contributing factor to acute mortality and morbidity. We observed increased respiratory and cardiovascular deaths, increased hospital admissions and visits, and decreased lung function. We also observed increased mortality and morbidity in a Korean population. Theses health effects were observed at levels below the current Ambient Air Quality Standard for particulate air pollution.
