A preliminary study on the Effectiveness of Group Occupational therapy program for Dementia Patient in Day-care center (주간보호시설 치매환자의 집단작업치료프로그램 효과-예비연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to have a preliminary study in order to identify changes in occupational performance skills and visual perception of patients with mild dementia, who have been provided with a group occupational therapy program, within community day-care center. The subjects of this study were 9 people with mild dementia living in a community. The period of administration was for 60 minutes per session three times a week during four weeks. We assessed their visual perception function(MVPT) and occupational performance(AMPS). One group pre-post test design was implemented as an experimental study to compare the results between before and after applying the group occupational therapy program within sensory, physical, creative activity. While a statistically significant difference between before and after the program of motor skills(occupational performance skill) is not shown, the visual perception function and occupational performance of patients with mild dementia improved significantly after receiving occupational therapy program(p<0.01, p<0.05). Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the group occupational therapy program is helpful to manage the occupational performance skills and visual perception of patients with mild dementia in community day-care center.

Effects of the Peer Relationship Promotion Convergence Program on Self-esteem and Sociality of Children Using a Rural Community Child Center (또래관계증진 융합프로그램이 농촌 지역아동센터 이용 아동의 자아존중감 및 사회성에 미치는 효과)

  • The aim of the study is to examine the effects of the peer relationship promotion convergence program on self-esteem and sociality of children using a community child center. A nonequivalent control group pre-post design was used. Participants were 52 children (experimental group=26, control group=26), 4-6th grade in elementary school from 5 rural community child center. The experimental group participated in 12 sessions of the program for 50 min, once a week. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, a chi-square test, and an independent t-test using SPSS WIN 21.0 program. After completion of the program, the experimental group showed a significant improvement in self-esteem(t=2.43, p=.018) and sociality (t=2.03, p=.047) compared to the control group. The result shows that the program is beneficial for improving self-esteem and sociality of low-income, school-age children. Therefore, the program is recommended the intervention for improvement of self-concept and sociality of children.

  • The purpose of this paper is to quickly identify school parents, teachers, students, community needs and opinions for curriculum organizing and the implementation of an online survey system for operating educational activities. Online survey system should be implemented based on Limesurvey to reduce costs and administrative costs. Limesurvery is available without the development of the separate program and offers the form of web-based template system, complete design, layout. Also, Limesurvey offers basic statistical analysis of survey data. Limesurvey can be executed by installing the program on a web hosting, typing database information. Limesurvey can be made a graph of the statistical results. Besides, Limesurvery can be stored in the form of HTML, Word, Excel, CSV Files and can be stured as basic datas for SPSS or PASW, R data, other statistical processing programs. If we could be operate Limesurvey in the form of open source-based survey program in elementary school, we could be reduced teacher's unnecessary work for statistics and overcame the problem of offline survey system.

Effect of a Death Preparing Education Program on Death Anxiety and Meaning of Life in Volunteers (죽음준비교육 프로그램이 자원봉사자의 죽음불안과 삶의 의미에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of death preparing education on death anxiety and meaning of life for volunteers. Methods: Data collection and intervention were carried out from January 11 to 25, 2009. The subjects included 60 volunteers in Jeonju city, and they were divided into two groups; 30 each of experimental group and control group. Death preparing education program contained 5 steps. Data were analyzed with t-test, $x^2$-test, and ANCOVA test with SPSS version 12.0. Results: The death anxiety scores in the experimental group were significantly lower than in the control group (F=4.01, P=0.046). The meaning of life scores in the experimental group were significantly higher than in the control group (F=6.32, P=0.015). Conclusion: The death preparing education program for volunteers was confirmed to be an effective intervention to lessen death anxiety and to improve the meaning of life. Therefore, I strongly recommend that this program should generously be applied to volunteers.

  • This study is a single-group experimental study to determine the effects on self-growth group programs are emotional intelligence and brain function index of Nursing Students. The data were collected between August 22 and September30, 2017. A total of 38 Nursing Students at k city were participated. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVAs, and Repeated ANOVA. Self-growth group program showed differences in emotional intelligence over time and Emotional self-understanding showed a statistically significant difference between group and time. The brain function index is no statistically significant difference between group and time but showed a difference in time. The results of self - growing group program has a significant effect on the self - understanding of nursing college students and Brain function index. This study suggests the necessity that the self growth group program for self-understanding, others-understanding, self-opening of nursing students will help improve emotional intelligence.

The Effects of a Problem-Based Learning Program Titled 'Designing Safe and Strong Bridge' on the Scientific Attitudes, Science Career Orientation, and Leadership of Scientifically Gifted High School Students ('튼튼하고 안전한 다리 설계' 문제중심학습(PBL) 프로그램이 고등학교 과학영재의 과학적 태도, 과학 진로지향도 및 리더십에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted in order to investigate how a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) program titled(called) 'Designing Safe and Strong Bridge' effects scientifically gifted students' scientific attitude, scientific career orientation and leadership. The participants were 19 scientifically gifted students in the second grade in C high school in Gyeonggi province; they were selected by participation in the tri-level gifted students identification step. Before and after 14 units of the program, the participants were asked to take tests about scientific attitude, scientific career orientation and leadership and to write a review about the PBL program at the end. The major results of this study are as follows. First, participants' scientific attitude was statistically significantly improved after the PBL program (p<.05). In the sub-domain of this area, six parts excluding the part of openness were significantly developed. Second, the degree of scientific career orientation was statistically significantly improved after the PBL program (p<.05). All 4 sub-domains in the degree of scientific career were significantly developed. Third, all of leadership scores were statistically significantly increased after the PBL program (p<.05). In the first factor, the parts of inner and inter personal characteristics were significantly developed. According to their post-program opinions, participants developed in terms of all the secondary factors, such as ability of interpersonal relation, consideration for others and groups, responsibility for the task, confidence and vision, during the process of PBL problem-solving in the small group work.

The Effect of White Noise on Memory and Attention of Local Community Elderly during Computer-Based Cognitive Rehabilitation Program (컴퓨터 기반 인지재활 프로그램 적용 시 백색소음이 지역사회 노인의 기억력과 주의력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of white noise on memory and attention of local community elderly during computer-based cognitive rehabilitation program(COMCOG). 30 elderly subjects were recruited and conveniently allocated into experimental and control group. Experimental group subjects carried out COMCOG with white noise. Control group subjects received COMCOG for 30 minutes, 3 times per week for 6 weeks. Neurocognitive funtion test(CNT) were used to evaluate memory and attention during pre and post. The most CNT outcome at post was significantly improved than the pre outcome in the both group(p<.05). And the experimental group showed significantly difference from control group(p<.05). The result of this study show that the COMCOG with white noise may be appropriate for improving memory and attention in elderly. This will enable the application of COMCOG with white noise in cognitive rehabilitation therapy of local elderly and it will help guide the selection of the therapist as one therapeutic basis

The Forest Experience Program and Improvement of Depression, Anxiety, and Self-concept in Adolescents (산림 체험 프로그램이 청소년의 우울감, 불안감, 자아상에 미치는 영향)

  • Aim of this study was to investigate the influence of forest experience program on depression, anxiety, and self concept in adolescents living in urban area. A total of 47 adolescents living in Seoul, South Korea were recruited for the study and participated in a series of forest experience programs that the Korea National Park Service had developed. Before and after applying the program, their depression, anxiety, and self concept were evaluated using Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), Revised Child Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS), and Offer Self Image Questionnaire-Revised (OSIQ). The outcome measures were analyzed using paired-t tests. CDI score was significantly reduced after the program (before:$12.41{\pm}8.34$, after:$8.65{\pm}9.48$). Excluding 16 participants whose scores of Lie Scale in the RCMAS were more than 8 on the analysis, the total RCMAS score showed significant reduction after the program (before:$14.87{\pm}7.30$, after:$10.81{\pm}7.81$). There was no significant difference in the total score of the total self-image scale in the OSIQ. However, the Self-confidence (SC) which was used as subscale of the OSIQ was significantly higher after the program (before:$29.94{\pm}3.71$, after:$38.11{\pm}6.45$), and the Idealism scale (I) in the OSIQ increased significantly after the program (before:$21.03{\pm}3.80$, after:$23.17{\pm}3.89$). On our analysis, the forest experience program showed considerable positive effects on depression and anxiety in adolescents. This result leads the postulation that the program might be helpful for adolescents to adapt to their surrounding experiences and to achieve improvement in interpersonal relationship.

  • Statistical analysis menus of MS Excel software, with powerful spreadsheet functions has not been modified since Excel 2000 Edition and its utilization is very low. To improve utilization of Excel menu for statistical analysis, this research compared outputs of Excel statistical menus and computed test statistics, and developed high-level macros. Outputs of Excel menus, both oneway layout and twoway layout, on real data are exactly same as the computed test statistics, and therefore, Excel menus for statistical analysis are reliable. Macros to provide results for Analysis of Variance with a block and multiple comparison of means are developed using Excel functions.

Convergence relationship of Self-esteem, Empathy ability and Interpersonal relationship ability in dental hygiene students (치위생과 학생들의 자아존중감과 공감능력, 대인관계능력과의 융합 관계)

  • This study was to investigate the convergence relationship of self-esteem, empathy ability and interpersonal relationship ability of 351 dental hygiene students in Jeollabuk-do area. The data were analyzed using SPSS software program 22.0. In case of interpersonal relationship ability, there were significantly different means with health state(p=0.005) and major satisfaction(p=0.004). Self-esteem, empathy ability and interpersonal relationship ability was positive correlated(r=0.600, p<0.01). The factors influencing interpersonal relationship ability were self-esteem and empathy ability(p<0.001). The explanatory power of the study was 38.0%. It is necessary to develop a dental hygiene education program for improving self-esteem, empathy ability and interpersonal relationship ability.
