Multi-modality MEdical Image Registration based on Moment Information and Surface Distance (모멘트 정보와 표면거리 기반 다중 모달리티 의료영상 정합)

  • Multi-modality image registration is a widely used image processing technique to obtain composite information from two different kinds of image sources. This study proposes an image registration method based on moment information and surface distance, which improves the previous surface-based registration method. The proposed method ensures stable registration results with low registration error without being subject to the initial position and direction of the object. In the preprocessing step, the surface points of the object are extracted, and then moment information is computed based on the surface points. Moment information is matched prior to fine registration based on the surface distance, in order to ensure stable registration results even when the initial positions and directions of the objects are very different. Moreover, surface comer sampling algorithm has been used in extracting representative surface points of the image to overcome the limits of the existed random sampling or systematic sampling methods. The proposed method has been applied to brain MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and PET(Positron Emission Tomography), and its accuracy and stability were verified through registration error ratio and visual inspection of the 2D/3D registration result images.

Feasibility Study of Applying the Acrylic Assistant Equipment (ACR) to Reduce Patient's Discomfort in Lower Abdomen MRI Scan (하복부 MRI 검사 시 환자의 불편함을 줄이기 위한 아크릴 보조 장치 사용의 타당성 조사)

  • In lower abdominal MRI scan, patients have been tested by physically contacting with the body array coil. In this study, we have designed the acrylic assistant equipment (ACR) which allows the contactless scan of the patient to the coil and evaluated the feasibility by comparing the acquired images with ACR to those obtained without ACR. We tested 10 cases (F: 5, m: 5) by using the Ingenia $3.0T^{TM}$ MR system and dStreamTM torso coil (Philips Healthcare, Netherlands). We implemented T1 AX TSE and eTHRIVE (GRE) techniques. The scanned images were quantitatively and qualitatively assessed. In qualitatively, the TSE shows 4.44 and 4.56 mean values with and without the ACR and 4.34 and 4.28 at the GRE, respectively. In quantitatively, the TSE shows 12.15 CNR, 17.95 SNR and 12.71 CNR, 18.96 SNR with and without the ACR. And GRE shows 17.72 CNR, 22.59 SNR and 18.26 CNR, 24.47 SNR with and without the ACR, respectively. We have designed and implemented the acrylic assistant equipment to lower abdominal patients. Our data indicate that it is possible to obtain similar image qualities to current lower abdominal MRI scan without the physical contact to the patient.

  • This paper shows the research about the development of software receiving platform processing GPS/Galileo L1/E1/E5a signal. Various researches for new GNSS signal character are possible using software receiving platform by facile program code modification. In addition, the program that processes GPS and Galileo signal integration is expected to help developing integration of receiver algorithm that deal with new various GNSS signal. In this paper, it is introduced the structure of GPS/Galileo receiving platform using sampled IF data as a program input. The function of the software platform embodied using MATLAB tool is tested by live data from Galileo test satellites. The software platform is modulated according to their roll and function. Each module is able to use selective function on GNSS signal.

Online Document Mining Approach to Predicting Crowdfunding Success (온라인 문서 마이닝 접근법을 활용한 크라우드펀딩의 성공여부 예측 방법)

  • Crowdfunding has become more popular than angel funding for fundraising by venture companies. Identification of success factors may be useful for fundraisers and investors to make decisions related to crowdfunding projects and predict a priori whether they will be successful or not. Recent studies have suggested several numeric factors, such as project goals and the number of associated SNS, studying how these affect the success of crowdfunding campaigns. However, prediction of the success of crowdfunding campaigns via non-numeric and unstructured data is not yet possible, especially through analysis of structural characteristics of documents introducing projects in need of funding. Analysis of these documents is promising because they are open and inexpensive to obtain. We propose a novel method to predict the success of a crowdfunding project based on the introductory text. To test the performance of the proposed method, in our study, texts related to 1,980 actual crowdfunding projects were collected and empirically analyzed. From the text data set, the following details about the projects were collected: category, number of replies, funding goal, fundraising method, reward, number of SNS followers, number of images and videos, and miscellaneous numeric data. These factors were identified as significant input features to be used in classification algorithms. The results suggest that the proposed method outperforms other recently proposed, non-text-based methods in terms of accuracy, F-score, and elapsed time.

A Study of the Temperature Dependency for Photocatalytic VOC Degradation Chamber Test Under UVLED Irradiations (UVLED 광원을 이용한 광촉매 VOC 제거 특성 평가시 온도에 따른 농도 변화에 관한 연구)

  • Photocatalytic VOCs removal test in gas phase is generally performed by placing the light source on the outside due to maintaining a constant temperature inside the test chamber. The distance between light source and photocatalysts is importantin the VOC degradation test since the intensity of light is rapidly decreased as the distance farther. Especially, for the choice of light source as UVLED, this issue is more critical because UVLED light source emits lots of heat and it is hard to measure the exact concentration of VOCs due to changed temperature in the test chamber. In this study, we modified VOC removal test chamber base on the protocol of air cleaner test and evaluated the efficiency of photocatalystunder UVLED irradiation. Photocatalystsof two different samples (commercial $TiO_2$ and the synthesized vanadium doped $TiO_2$) weretested for the p-xylene degradation in the closed chamber system and compared with each other in order to exclude any experimental uncertainties. During the VOC removal test, VOC concentrations were monitored and corrected at regular time intervals because the temperature in the chamber increases ${\sim}20^{\circ}C$ due tothe heat of UVLED. The results showed that theconversion ratio of p-xylene has 40~43% difference before and after the temperature correction. Based on those results, we conclude that the VOC concentration correction must be required for the VOC removal test in a closed chamber system under UVLED light source and obtained the corrected efficiencies of various photocatlysts.

Real-Time Implementation of the G.729.1 Using ARM926EJ-S Processor Core (ARM926EJ-S 프로세서 코어를 이용한 G.729.1의 실시간 구현)

  • In this paper we described the process and the results of real-time implementation of G.729.1 wideband speech codec which is standardized in SG15 of ITU-T. To apply the codec on ARM926EJ-S(R) processor core. we transformed some parts of the codec C program including basic operations and arithmetic functions into assembly language to operate the codec in real-time. G.729.1 is the standard wideband speech codec of ITU-T having variable bit rates of $8{\sim}32kbps$ and inputs quantized 16 bits PCM signal per sample at the rate of 8kHz or 16kHz sampling. This codec is interoperable with the G.729 and G.729A and the bandwidth extended wideband($50{\sim}7,000Hz$) version of existing narrowband($300{\sim}3,400Hz$) codec to enhance voice quality. The implemented G.729.1 wideband speech codec has the complexity of 31.2 MCPS for encoder and 22.8 MCPS for decoder and the execution time of the codec takes 11.5ms total on the target with 6.75ms and 4.76ms respectively. Also this codec was tested bit by bit exactly against all set of test vectors provided by ITU-T and passed all the test vectors. Besides the codec operated well on the Internet phone in real-time.

Real-Time Hand Pose Tracking and Finger Action Recognition Based on 3D Hand Modeling (3차원 손 모델링 기반의 실시간 손 포즈 추적 및 손가락 동작 인식)

  • Modeling hand poses and tracking its movement are one of the challenging problems in computer vision. There are two typical approaches for the reconstruction of hand poses in 3D, depending on the number of cameras from which images are captured. One is to capture images from multiple cameras or a stereo camera. The other is to capture images from a single camera. The former approach is relatively limited, because of the environmental constraints for setting up multiple cameras. In this paper we propose a method of reconstructing 3D hand poses from a 2D input image sequence captured from a single camera by means of Belief Propagation in a graphical model and recognizing a finger clicking motion using a hidden Markov model. We define a graphical model with hidden nodes representing joints of a hand, and observable nodes with the features extracted from a 2D input image sequence. To track hand poses in 3D, we use a Belief Propagation algorithm, which provides a robust and unified framework for inference in a graphical model. From the estimated 3D hand pose we extract the information for each finger's motion, which is then fed into a hidden Markov model. To recognize natural finger actions, we consider the movements of all the fingers to recognize a single finger's action. We applied the proposed method to a virtual keypad system and the result showed a high recognition rate of 94.66% with 300 test data.

Effect of Mobile Devices on the Use Intention and Use of Mobile Banking Service in Myanmar (미얀마에서의 모바일기기 특성이 모바일 뱅킹 서비스 사용의도와 실제 사용에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • Most banks in Myanmar have begun to provide their services via mobile phones. However, few studies investigated the factors that may help to set mobile services from a customer perspective. So, this study aims to propose and test a conceptual research model to predict the user's intention to use and actual use level of mobile banking service by combining UTAUT and DeLone-Mclean IS model. Data were collected from 206 citizens who had experienced mobile banking in various regions of Myanmar. The study found that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, information quality and service quality influence the user 's intention to adopt mobile banking services which directly affects the user's actual use of them. However, social influence, facilitating condition and system quality don't influence the user's intention. The study results contribute to meeting customer's needs and reducing customer risk in Myanmar's mobile banking industry, suggesting to seamlessly provide the necessary resources like technology improvements, organizational infrastructure and service centers. Another future study are required to include service's security and trust factors so that the service providers could gain their customers' reliability and trust.

  • Internet demand has increased rapidly, and Internet Protocol Version 4, the main Internet protocol, can not cope with various types of network demand in the future. Therefore, it is urgent to spread IPv6-based stable network to solve the shortage of Internet address resources. Due to the proliferation of IoT and the increase in mobile devices, efficient and optimal IPv6 routing design is indispensable. In this paper, we have studied about characteristics of IPv6, address system of IPv6, structure analysis and efficient routing technology among IPv6 terminals. Furthermore, experimental results on routing packet analysis and convergence time are presented in network - based IPv6 routing implementation environment. In addition, we show the results of the experiment analysis by dividing the implementation of IPv6 routing, operation test, and fail over performance into three kinds of routing protocol methods. As a result, this study can be applied to the introduction of IPv6 system, test bed environment construction, and network design.

A Study on Designing a System for Effective Anaesthetic Procedure in the Near Future (근 미래 수술실에서 효율적인 마취과정을 위한 시스템 디자인 연구)

  • In the medical environment today, new technology has compelled new work paradigm, as it has been other areas of our lives. However it is very difficult to see the changes that have been taken place, even though new computer technology has changed the medical industry so rapidly. In this study, new concept of human computer interaction focusing on tangible interaction for anaesthetic procedure in an operating theatre has been explored with a 5 years technological and social perspective. This project is not intended to redesign the equipment itself but to focus on enhanced human computer interaction concepts. The exper iment shows that how new technology affects anaesthetic nurses' work in an operating theatre in the near future to improve quality of the medical service by helping to increase work efficiency and enhance patient satisfaction. As a result of the study, the KEY brings new visions to the anaesthetic nurses via various types of interaction. Thanks to the KEY, the nurse is really free from the machines so that he can keep attention to patient most of the time during the whole operation. The discussion in this study is still preliminary, and further elaboration is strongly needed. It might be certain that additional further studies, such as high-fidelity prototyping and logistical user testing, should be followed not only to refine and communicate the ideas to audiences, but as a means of stimulating and generating further ideas.
