Coastal ferry routes are very important because they connect the mainland to islands, offer transportation for islanders, and bring tourism to islands. In particular, the recent increase in national income, prevalence of a culture that emphasizes work-life balance, and introduction of the five-day workweek have stoked interest in travel as a leisure pursuit, and demand for tourism from Korean people in islands has increased. As the number of passengers using coastal passenger terminals increases due to changes in the coastal tourism environment, the importance and need for coastal passenger terminal facilities and services is growing. Under these circumstances, it is necessary for the management organizations of coastal passenger terminals to manage and efficiently operate the terminals in such a way that budgets can be reasonably implemented and the convenience of passengers using the terminals is enhanced. This study primarily analyzed the management efficiency of coastal passenger terminals in terms of profitability and public interest using data envelopment analysis. The eight passenger terminals achieved low management efficiency in terms of profitability. These terminals should improve profitability by increasing income from terminal office rental and ancillary businesses and revenue from terminal fees by boosting island tourism and expanding overseas passenger transportation. The eight terminals with low management efficiency for public interest should increase the number of passengers by promoting island tourism, developing tour packages to Japan and China's coastal areas, developing new routes, and introducing super-high-speed ships.

This paper focuses measuring the efficiency of container yards on container terminals in Busan (Gasungdae, Shinsundae, Gamman, New Gamman, Uam, Gamchon, PNC) and Gwangyang(GICT, KEC, Dongbu, KIT) using Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) approach. Container terminals in Busan and Gwangyang play an important role in the region's economic development. The results show that Shinsundae was an efficient DMU during the period of 2007 to 2009, while Gamman, New Gamman and PNC were efficient terminals in 2009. The very inefficient terminals were shown to be GICT, KEC, Dongbu and KIT. GICT(2009), KEC(2009), Dongbu(2008-2009), KIT(2009) on Gwangyang Port were found to be relatively the inefficient terminals in terms of the returns to scale. This study also finds that the efficiency of Shinsundae terminal was so high as to be abel to keep its efficiency in spite of the additional increase of the inputs from 2007 to 2009. Gamman terminal was in the decreasing returns to scale in 2009, while the other terminals were in the increasing returns to scale. It means that we are able to improve the efficiency of the Gamman terminal with increasing returns to scale through enlarging the scale.

In general, the design of container yard and container handling system on container terminal are focused on operation of shipside than service about chassis from outside(C/O). It is not efficient for chassis from outside. The purpose of this paper is functional assessment of efficient container terminal and for higher performance of container terminal. first, the items which are concerned with container handling at the planning of container terminal are investigated and extracted through the practical data analysis of container terminal. Also, verified problems of planning and present condition through the functional assessment. Secondly, the improvements for container throughput in container yard are proposed and examined the effectiveness of improvements about queuing time of chassis from outside and service time of transfer crane by the evaluation decision model based upon multi criteria objectives.

최근 컨테이너 터미널에서는 환적화물의 증가로 터미널내의 이적작업이 증가함에 따라 효율적인 이적작업 계획을 수립하고자 노력하고 있다. 본 연구는 블록내에서 다수의 야드 크레인이 운영되고 있는 경우에 주어진 시간내에 각 크레인 별 최적 이적작업 계획을 수립하는 문제에 대한 혼합정수법을 이용한 최적 수리모형을 제시하였다. 또한 실제 터미널에서 빠른 시간 안에 이적작업계획을 수립할 수 있는 발견적 기법을 제시하고 다양한 수치예제 실험을 통하여 유용성을 검증하였다.

컨테이너터미널에서는 사전에 컨테이너에 대한 정확한 정보를 전송받게 되면 효율적인 반출업무 계획을 수립하여 반출입이 이루어지는 방식으로 운영되어야 한다. 그러나 컨테이너 반출에 사용되는 정보시스템이 선사별로 다양하여 업무량이 증가하고, 반출정보시스템 이용시 입력오류로 인한 손실이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 오류로 인한 화물차량의 게이트 대기시간 증가는 화물운송에 시간적, 물질적 손실을 초래하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 컨테이너터미널의 반출절차의 유형별 분석과 수출입 업무별로 필수정보량을 파악하여 이를 효과적으로 이용할 수 있도록 반줄정보시스템을 개선하는 방안을 도출하고자 한다.

선박의 대형화 및 해상사업의 기업화 등에 따라 해상운송에 있어 화물의 하역, 보관 등의 전문적인 부분을 담당하고 있는 항만하역업자, 항만터미널운영자, 창고업자 동 독립계약자의 역할은 점점 증대되어 가고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 국제해상운송은 해상운송인과 화주를 중심으로 체결한 운송계약을 중심으로 이루어져 왔으므로, 영국 보통법상의 직접계약관계의 원칙에 의해 계약당사자가 아닌 자는 계약상의 이익을 원용할 수 없다는 입장을 유지하여 왔다 이에 대해 이를 완화하고자 하는 다양한 방안이 적용되고 있으며, '히말라야약관'도 그러한 방안중의 하나이다. 본 논문은 최근 대법원판결을 통해 우리나라 법원의 히말라야약관의 유효성 인정에 대한 내용을 재검토해 본다.

In order to effectively operate and manage the port terminal, it is necessary to use port terminal simulator for the analysis of port terminal. However, there are many difficulties in applying an existing port terminal simulator to various terminals, because each of the port terminals has different structures, facilities, equipment, and job processes. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a design method of port terminal simulator for the improvement of reusability by using model-based techniques. We also showed the implementation of the prototype of the port terminal simulator of applying the research content.

The aim of this study is to analyze the container terminal operation by considering the key factors that fluctuates the container traffic volume using the System Dynamics (SD) method. The target area of this study is the 'A' container terminal which is located in the Port of Incheon and the simulation period is from 2004 to 2020. As evaluation indexes for container terminal operation, three factors such as 'total sales', 'operating ratio of C/Y' and 'operating ratio of G/C' are selected, and as for the key factors of fluctuating container traffic volume, 'variation ratio of world trade', 'variation ratio of trade among three countries in North-East Asia' and 'variation ratio of won-dollar rate are used. As of 2020, the result of this study is that import-export container traffic volume increases almost 880,000TEU and total sales and operating ratio of G/C each reach 7.1 bilion won and 65 percent. No changes however in loadage and operating ratio of C/Y in 'A' container terminal are indicated. The reason is that capability of C/Y is exceeded. Therefore this study suggest that decision-makers of 'A' container terminal realize the importance of additional space of C/Y.

The interest of ACT (Automated Container Terminal) is increasing because of expansion of container's transportation quantity, appearance of large-sized and. high-speed vessel, high labor cost of container terminal and the change of technical level. Therefore, the ACT had been developed in several ports in the world, such as ECT (Europe Combined Terminals) and CTA (Container Terminal Altenwerder). They have studied detailed technique for the operation of ACT. In Korea, it also has increased not only expansion and improvement of container terminal, but also necessity of ACT. Now, many projects related to the development of ACT are working in Korea. And the technical improvement of operating system, automated equipments and information system has accomplished by the projects. The ACT consists of the basic equipment and the integrated information system for operating and controlling automated equipments. The productivity of ACT is maximized through efficient connection between them. Thus, the automated degree of container terminal is dependent on the developing time of operating system, reliability, transportation quantity of container, investment amount and technical level. In this paper, we propose important strategy in developing ACT through analyzing the property of each ACT.

The improvement in the terminal productivity plays a key role for container terminals to be more competitive. The productivity of yard tractors(YT) is one of the most important factor accelerating the terminal productivity. Thus, YT pooling system is newly introduced in container terminals for increasing the YT productivity. Recently, the terminals in Korea tend to adopt YT pooling system. This paper proposes the important decision factors for YT pooling work space and several types of formulations according to states of container terminals.
