  • This study focused on appreciative inquiry(AI) of salespeople who have to respond to various types of emotions according to the desires of individual customers at service contact points and the effect of emotional labor on adaptive selling behavior and customer satisfaction. Dyadic questionnaires were administerd to 115 automobile salespeople and 2 customers who received service from each salesperson, and the collected data was analyzed by using structural equation modeling. The results showed that AI had positive influences on deep acting and surface acting. Only deep acting was found to have positive relationship with adaptive selling behavior, but not to surface acting. Adaptive selling behavior had a positive effect on customer satisfaction. This study will contribute to identifying the need for AI access for salespersons and for activating adaptive selling behavior through emotional labor related to AI practice.

  • Career indecision has long been a phenomenon of interest to parents, faculty, school counselors, and others who advise young adults on their career choices. The earliest work on career indecision focused almost exclusively on the negative consequences that young adults faced as a result of lack of self-insight into their own skills and abilities, lack of specific information about various occupations and labor markets, and fear of commitment to any career path in particular. More recently, researchers have noted that some of the short run negative consequences of early career indecision may ultimately lead to long-term positive consequences, particularly if better person-occupation fit is achieved as a result of young adults' extended search behavior. Extroversion, agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness showed to have negative effects on indecisiveness. In case of lack of job information, only extroversion and emotional stability showed to have negative effects on indecisiveness, and openness showed negative effect. Indecisiveness has negative effect on preparatory job search behavior. Lack of information has negative effect on preparatory job search behavior and active job search behavior.

  • This research attempts to identify how members of an online community collaboratively engaged with particular social information behaviors and accomplished a defined collective action. While responding to the Sewol Ferry tragedy, MissyUSA members quickly communicated and mobilized a collective action, a full-page ad campaign in The New York Times. As a follow up study, this secondary analysis quantitatively analyzes the primary data from a previous study to explore potential relationships or underlying factors among the various identified information behaviors. In this study, nineteen of the previously identified information behaviors were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, yielding a total of eight factors. The two major factors of shared representation/collective identification and mobilizing resources verified the findings of the previous study and are in line with the findings typical of political science. The three factors of collaborative decision-making, reaction to tension, and brainstorming were factors that maximized communication and mobilization online, without any face-to-face communication or physical organization. Three emergent factors of outburst of dissent, boycott, and planning explained how members used negative emotions of anger, referential information for boycott, and incubated next collective actions. Through exploratory factor analysis, this study verifies and expands on the findings of the previous study by identifying several emergent factors that relate to the collaborative information behaviors of an online community engaged in a collective action.

  • This article examines the relationship of career indecision, job search behavior, and employment among college seniors based on sub-scales of career indecision (lack of career information, lack of self-clarity, decisiveness, lack of necessity recognition, external Barrier). This study explored the effect of career indecision, job search behavior, and employment successes(number of application, number of interview, number of job offer) in longitudinal method. In result, career indecision had negative effect on job search behavior. In other words, the higher career indecision level is, the less job search behavior is performed. Especially, career indecision is connected with preparatory job search behavior and informal job search behavior. Another finding is that job search behavior in time 1 (first semester of college senior) had a strong effect on all of employment success variables in time 2(second semester of college senior). Finally, the theoretical and practical implications of this research were discussed. Based on the limitation of this study, several directions for future research were also suggested.

  • The present study examined the factors influencing individuals' risk information seeking and processing using the case of 2015 MERS outbreak in Korea. Analyses of two-wave online panel data demonstrated that perceived risk, negative affect, subjective norm, and information insufficiency predicted the risk information seeking/avoiding as well as information processing mode, which validates the Risk Information Seeking and Processing(RISP) model. More importantly, this study found new evidence that information seeking and systematic processing promoted MERS preventive behaviors. In addition, active SNS use moderated the link between perceived risk and negative affects about MERS crisis as well as the relationship between social normative pressure and to seek the risk related information.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine women's propensity to consume cosmetics and to investigate the effects of the consumption propensity on product selection attributes and information search behaviors. The purpose of this study is to propose practical implications for corporate management and to provide useful information for setting the marketing direction in the cosmetics industry by identifying differentiated marketing strategy for the cosmetics market. The results of the study are as follows. When the factors of each variable are extracted, the shopping propensity was derived from trend pursuit, pleasure pursuit, show-off pursuit, and economic benefit pursuit propensities, while product selection attributes were derived from brand factor, service factor, marketing factor, and quality factor. To examine the relationship between variables, three hypotheses were set based on previous studies. As a result of the verification the followings were found; first, the consumption propensity has a partial effect on the product selection attributes. Second, consumption propensity has a partial effect on information search behavior. Product selection attributes were found to have a partial effect on information search behavior.

The theory of planned behavior was applied for identifying relationship among variables on search behavior. Data were collected in an university. For data analysis, ANOVA, factor analysis, regression analysis, cluster analysis were used. The result shows: the theory of planned behavior can be used for finding search intention in an academic library. Student major and library use frequency are different statistically in attitudes, perceived behavioral control, behavioral intention. Student characteristics are divided into four types: conservative, independent, friendship, fashion. Friendship type of students influences search behavior. From cluster analysis, the cluster included friendship and independent types of students and students who have high frequency of library use has more active intention for search in academic library.
