  • Confucianism which pursues the right relationship between person and person, depicts the ideal that moral individuals contribute to community development. In the 16th century, Toegye Yi Hwang, the authority of Korean Confucianism, reflected his educational intentions and interests and made the whole of the body of Confucianism and the whole process of the study into a series of 10 paintings 'Ten Diagrams of Sage Learning'. The purpose of the education which is claimed in the 'Ten Diagrams of Sage Learning' is to become a saint, and it ultimately coincides with the purpose of moral education which is to be introspective and practical moral man. The whole theme of 'Ten Diagrams of Sage Learning' is related to revealing the principles of humanity and morality in order to restore human nature on the basis of piety. Piety(敬) is also a purpose and a method of self-discipline, and is the main content. The method of education for traditional confucianism is aiming for the organic integration of purpose, content and method of education and reveals the consistency of the combination of knowledge and behavior in content and method. Exploring the universal value of traditional culture and re-raising moral culture that is important in traditional education is to discuss that what is valid for the present and the future is derived from the past tradition. That may be useful in solving today's educational problems. Especially, it is very meaningful to adopt a reflective approach to cultivate talented people who can 'realize oneself' and 'care for the community' which is the ultimate goal of education through analyzing the essence of moral education pursued by traditional education.

  • This study discussed its implications for the meaning in life, which began to emerge through existential psychotherapy in the era of coronavirus infection 19 (COVID-19). In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are making efforts to live a meaningful life, and individuals and communities are making efforts to find meaning in how to live a meaningful life. Humanity has a premise for a peaceful life, and since the past, interest in the meaning in life has continued. The deadly virus called COVID-19, which hit the world in December 2019, created stress such as anxiety, alienation, and depression in people, endangering the lives of individuals and communities. Research on the meaning in life was active even before COVID-19, but I think it is necessary to look at the changes in people's meaning in life and how COVID-19 is affecting each individual amid the global pandemic of the virus. In other words, clarifying the meaning of our lives in the era of COVID-19 is a coping to reduce stress and a catalyst to improve the quality of life. This study aims to provide basic research to prepare ways to improve the quality of life in the era of COVID-19 by examining various perspectives and results on the meaning in life.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of learning effects by type on college life satisfaction for college students. A total of 250 copies of the survey were distributed, and a total of 219 copies were used for analysis except for 31 copies, excluding questionnaires with many poor or missing questions. The learning effect according to the socio-demographic characteristics of college students showed a significant difference in the form of cohabitation, and it was found that the learning effect was high in the order of alone and friends. Perceptual learning showed significant differences in the form of cohabitation, and it was found that perception learning was high in the order of alone, friends, and seniors and juniors. Cognitive learning showed significant differences in the form of cohabitation, and cognitive learning was found to be high in the order of friends, alone, and seniors and juniors. There was a significant difference in college satisfaction with the type of cohabitation, and it was found that college satisfaction was high in the order of alone, seniors and juniors, and friends. Finally, the higher the discovery learning, perceptual learning, and cognitive learning, the higher the college life satisfaction, and among them, discovery learning was found to have a great influence on college life satisfaction. Overall, the university should provide an environment where students can freely move between individuals and communities and live their university life. In addition, in preparation for problems occurring in the community, it will be necessary to activate the related counseling room.

  • This study was to explore epistemological features presented in texts of exhibit panels in the science museum located in Gyeonggi Province. Out-of-school or daily experiences allow more properly and potentially students to form informative science image, because the understandings of scientific epistemology were constructed tacitly through various experiences over a long period of time. The target for this study was panel texts of exhibits in a science museum as an of out-of-school context. The analytical framework was adopted from epistemological frameworks by Ryder et al. (1999). The research results were explored in the categories of relationship between scientific knowledge claims and the data, the nature of lines of scientific enquiry, and social dimension of science. It revealed that one exhibit might reflect the characteristics of one epistemological position: relating one data to one knowledge claim; generating knowledge claim from scientists' individual interests or from discipline's internal epistemology; scientists working as a community or an institution. Findings suggested that the exhibits of a science museum including panel texts and medium need to reflect the wide ranges of scientific epistemology.

  • Recently KISTEP(Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning) held an open forum for examining 'the Manuscript of National Science and Technology Standard Taxonomic System'. I submitted my opinion letter to the forum because I thought that the matter of setting the standard taxonomic system for Science and Technology is so closely related to the research concern of STS that it needs checking from the viewpoint of STS. This paper primarily focuses on making a criticism of and constructing an alternative to the mamuscript, but it goes so far as to ground the matter upon the STS viewpoint. I propose that we interpret an open forum related to science and technology as an example case of the community of inquiry. Further I try, standing in the context of learning to form a model of doing STS interdisciplinary research. In the context of decision I point out the problem with the 'scale' principle involved in categrizing criteria of the taxonomic system and argue that the problem leads to omitting STS from National Science and Technology Standard Taxonomic System although STS takes up science and technology themselves as its research concern proper. In the context or teaming I seek to set up a typical case study or STS. One of the typical STS research tasks is trying to construct a positive alternative to as well as make a criticism of a given suggestion, for clearer alternatives will, in him, provoke sharper criticisms or safer acceptances. I hope that the model in this paper will exemplify such an alternating procedure of criticism and acceptance.

  • Meaningful learning occurs through an active process of engaging with the content in a lively interaction between teacher and student. In this study, we explored teachers' learning, challenges, and changes as they learned and practiced responsive teaching (RT), a practice that supports students to put their ideas at the center of their lessons. As a result, we found that teachers initially embraced RT from different perspectives and struggled to implement it in ways they understood. We then explored RT more deeply by focusing on the case of a teacher who was teaching science herself, and found that her experience was both rewarding and confusing. However, by the end of the learning process, the teachers were able to define RT in their own ways, which strengthened their commitment to implementing RT in elementary science education. Based on this teacher learning process, it was suggested that teachers should be viewed as curriculum experts, that they should learn and explore collaboratively through a community of teachers, and that they should be researchers who continue to explore various practices in the field.

  • According to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, SW education is emphasized around the world to educate student with new abilities. Following to these global trends, SW education has become mandatory in Korea's 2015 revised curriculum. However, Korean elementary SW education is focused on the use of block-based programming languages. In addition, the point of view of selecting goals and organizing content of SW Education, the affective domain is ignored and focused only on the cognitive and psychomotor domains. So, this study explored method of SW education using the concept of Team-Shared Mental Model for develop of community capacity and Python, which is textual programming language gaining popularity recently. As a result of performing the post test t-test on two groups with similar Team-Shared Mental Model formation, we found that it was effective in forming a Team-Shared Mental Model of the group applying the SW teaching method suggested in the study.
