This paper predicted deformation due to thermal residual stress in composites using finite element analysis. Temperature cycle, Model shape, Laminate angle, Stacking sequence, chemical shrinkage of resin, and thermal expansion are affect composite deformation. Compare the results of the analytical model with the actual model of the same shape. This paper suggests that the analytical results can be applied to actual Model.
In this paper, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) particles were added between the sheets of prepreg, and the effect of on many properties of BN-embedded carbon fiber reinforced plastics was investigated. The amount of BN particles which corresponds with 0 to 15 wt% of total resin weight was used as an additive material. The tensile strength and the inter-laminar shear strength of BN-embedded CFRP samples were improved by maximally 13.6%, and 6.7%, respectively. The tendency changes of thermal, electrical conductivities and the morphology of cross-section of CFRPs were also observed. This study suggests the possibility of controlling the characteristics of carbon fiber-BN-epoxy composites to use for aerospace applications.

In this paper the cure cycle of carbon fiber/phenolic resin was investigated by the Taguchi Method in an experimental design. Experiments were systematically performed using $L_{18}(2^1 \times 3_7)$ orthorgonal array table of the experimental design. In the experimental design, eight compression molding parameters (heating rate, pressing temperature, pressing rate, molding pressure, curing temperature, dwell time at curing temperature, cooling rate and degassing) were considered and the effects of the parameters on the flexural strength and the apparent porosity of carbon fiber/phenolic composites were investigated. The analysis of variance for the experimental results indicated that molding pressure and curing temperature are the most significant parmeters in the flexural strength and the apparent porosity of carbon fiber/phenolic resin composites, respectively.
The effect of a multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWNCT) on the adhesive properties and thermal properties of epoxy were studied by double lap-shear tests. Epoxy/MWCNT resins were prepared from a different amount of the MWCNT incorporated into the epoxy resins (araldite 2011). Steel plates and carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) were chosen as materials. Mechanical tests were performed by a universal testing machine (UTM). The analysis of thermal properties were conducted by a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) and a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The fracture surface morphology was examined using a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and optical microscope. Compared to neat epoxy, it was found that the mechanical properties of epoxy/MWCNT resins are increased.

The lignin-based carbon nanofiber reinforced epoxy composite has been prepared by immersing carbon nanofiber mat in epoxy resin solution in order to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties. The thermal and mechanical properties of the carbon nanofiber reinforced epoxy composite were analyzed using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and tensile tester. It was found that the thermal properties of the carbon nanofiber reinforced epoxy composite improved, with its glass-transition temperature ($T_g$) increased from $90.7^{\circ}C$ ($T_g$ of epoxy resin itself) to $106.9^{\circ}C$. The tensile strengths of carbon nanofiber mats made from both lignin-g-PAN copolymer and PAN were 7.2 MPa and 9.4 MPa, respectively. The resulting tensile strength of lignin-based carbon nanofiber reinforced epoxy composite became 43.0 MPa, the six times higher than that of lignin-based carbon nanofiber mats. The carbon nanofibers were pulled out after the tensile test of the carbon nanofiber reinforced epoxy composite due to high tensile strength (478.8 MPa) of an individual carbon nanofiber itself as well as low interfacial adhesion between fibers and matrices, confirmed by the SEM analysis.

It is a primary object of the present study to test and evaluate the shear load carrying capability of a carbon fiber reinforced thermoses composite structure with buttress grooves for military applications. The buttress form of groove is an effective structure in any applications where high shear loads are transferred in one direction between structural components. Inverse ballistics methodology was introduced to investigate the high strain rate properties of composite groove specimens. In comparison with the conventional methods, inverse ballistics technique is a proper one under dynamic environment.

In this paper, we have studied the mechanical properties of thermoplastic carbon fiber fabric composites with spread technology and compression molding temperature were investigated. Carbon fiber reinforcement composites were fabricated using commercial carbon fiber fabrics and spread carbon fiber fabrics. Mechanical properties of the commercial carbon fiber composites (CCFC) and spread carbon fiber composites (SCFC) according to compression molding temperatures were investigated. Thermal properties of the polypropylene film were examined by rheometer, differential scanning calorimetry, thermal gravimetric analysis. Tensile, flexural and Inter-laminar shear test. Commercial carbon fiber reinforcement composites and spread carbon fiber composites were fabricated at 200~240℃ above the melting temperature of the polypropylene film. Impregnation properties according to compression molding temperature of the polypropylene film were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. As a result, as the compression molding temperature was increased, the viscosity of the polypropylene film was decreased. The mechanical properties of the compression molding temperature of 230℃ spread carbon fiber composite was superior.
The fracture energy of glass fiber/carbon fiber/epoxy resin hybrid composite system was investigated in the aspect of fracture mechanism. Epoxy resin matrix was DGEBA-MDA-SN-HQ system. On the interface of glass fiber and matrix, post debone friction energy provided a major contribution to the fracture energy, and debonding energy and pull-out energy were of the similar value. In the case of fracture on the interface of carbon fiber and matrix, pull-out energy was the major contributor.

CFRP composite materials have been widely used in various fields of engineering because of their excellent properties. They show high specific stiffness and specific strength compared with metallic materiasl. Woven CFRP composite materials are fabricated from carbon fibers with two orientation angles ($0^{\circ}/90^{\circ}$), which influences the mechanical properties. Therefore, woven CFRP composite materials show different types of fracture behavior according to the load direction. Therefore, the fracture behavior of these materials needs to be evaluated according to the load direction when designing structures using these materials. In this study, we evaluate the fracture strength of plain-woven CFRP composite materials according to the load direction. We performed tests for six different angles (load direction: $0^{\circ}/90^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}/-60^{\circ}$, $+45^{\circ}/-45^{\circ}$) and estimated the fracture strength for an arbitrary fiber angle by using the modified Tan's theory and harmonic function.
