  • Currently, polymer-based tile cement (Thin-bed method) and epoxy adhesive (Thick-bed method) are mainly used as tile adhesive for polishing and porcelain. In the case of epoxy adhesive, there is a low economic efficiency, there is a problem that the work efficiency is reduced by mixing the resin and the hardener. In particular, the epoxy contains a bisphenol A and amine component, there is a risk of workable disease when a worker is exposed to odor and harmful gases generated in the epoxy adhesive for a long time. Against this background, it is necessary to analyze the hazards of using epoxy adhesives indoors, and develop cementitious high performance tile adhesive products with significantly lower hazards than epoxy adhesives.

  • This paper is to present the performance data for improved direct setting method using tile bond for application of porcelain tile under 1 percent absorptance. For this purpose, improved direct setting method type 1 & 2(tile bond curing time 0, 24H) were compared with the conventional setting methods(including direct setting method and improved pressure setting method) in the sight of the adhesive stability of porcelain tile. It tested for tiles after 14, 28days under standard condition and severe conditions. The severe conditions were water immersion, heat ageing(70℃) and freeze-thaw cycle. On the basis of test results, the adhesive strength of direct setting method was lowest for the conventional setting methods. But improved direct setting method using tile bonds(A, B) came close to the result of improved pressure setting method using tile bonds.

  • Defects such as falling and cracking of tiles installed in the bathrooms of apartment houses are frequently occurring. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, the A/S cost of construction companies and consumer complaints are increasing. The causes of tile defects include problems such as the selection of tile adhesive and lack of adhesive strength, the carelessness of the installer, the base surface, and the absorption rate of the tile. Therefore, in this study, an adhesive construction method using tile adhesives with high resistance to deformation of floors and tiles was studied. In addition, the properties and construction methods of tile adhesives were evaluated.

  • This paper is to present the performance data for pressure setting method using some tile bonds for application on the Ondol-Heating floor system. For this purpose, powder and liquid tile bonds(Organic.Inorganic mixed tile bonds) were compared with the conventional tile cement for pressure setting method in the sight of the adhesive stability of porcelain tile. It tested for tiles after 14, 28days under standard condition and severe conditions. The severe conditions were water immersion and heat ageing($70^{\circ}C$). Another experimental factors concerned tile bond properties such as mixing ratio(in case of using liquid admixture), open time, which are supposed to affect the tensile strength of tile, were studied and discussed through the experiments.

  • Experimental transplantation of Eklonia stoionifera to natural rock was carried out using adhesive Blue. A plant was attached to an architecture tile ($10\times$10 cm) with the glue, and then the tile was attached to natural rock with underwater glue. Within one month, the tile were fixed to natural rock with an attachment rate of $75\%$, and 5. stoionifera grew up with an insertion rate of $66.7\%$ on the tile. After two months, number of E. stolonifera on the tile decreased. However, the attached plants were regenerated by new stolons, maintaining good growing condition. After seven months,5. stoloaifera increased 6 to 71 individuals. These results indicate that regeneration of plants was mainly affected by the recruitment of stolen around the plant.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shrinkage properties of a tile reinforced with epoxy resin, which has the advantages of high adhesion and low shrinkage, and causes a hardening reaction by chemical bonding with cement mortar. As a result, since the epoxy resin adhesive suppresses the moisture evaporation of the mortar, the drying shrinkage of the mortar itself is reduced, accordingly, the shrinkage of the tile itself is greatly reduced, and it is thought that it is possible to prevent a decrease in adhesion due to shear stress.

  • In this study, flexural strength and tile adhesion strength were evaluated by using a mortar, dry mortar and an epoxy resin reinforced mortar to examine the adhesion performance by reinforcing the epoxy resin adhesive. As a result, it was clearly confirmed that the effect of improving the adhesion strength by reinforcing the epoxy resin adhesive regardless of the type of tile, and in particular, when applying the epoxy resin adhesive to the porcelain and polishing tiles, it is judged that sufficient adhesion performance can be secured.

  • Polishing tiles among porcelain tiles are more durable and aesthetic than ceramic tiles, so their demand has recently increased. In particular, since polishing tiles have a very low absorption rate, organic adhesives with chemical bonds are mainly used. However, organic adhesives have low economic efficiency and some volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). Therefore purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of polishing tile adhesion by developing organic-inorganic adhesives, which have chemical bonds and mechanical bonds. As a result, since the amorphous chain and chemical bonds of the polymer in the tile adhesives, both tensile and shear adhesion strength were satisfied with the KS L 1592, KS L 1593, and the rate of length change itself in the thermal cycling was lower than organic adhesives. So it is thought that it is possible to replace some organic adhesives.
