클러스터 기반 라우팅 방법에서 클러스터 헤드에 고장이 발생하면, 전달되지 못하는 센서 데이터가 존재한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 각 클러스터마다 백업 클러스터 헤드를 지정함으로써 원래의 클러스터 헤드에 고장이 발생했을 때 백업 클러스터 헤드가 그 역할을 대신하도록 하는 방법이 연구되고 있다. 백업 클러스터 헤드를 이용한 방법에서는 어떤 노드를 백업 클러스터 헤드로 선출하느냐에 따라 무선센서네트워크의 성능이 좌우된다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 무선센서네트워크의 에너지 효율성을 높이기 위해 퍼지를 이용하여 각 클러스터의 백업 클러스터 헤드를 선출하는 방법을 제안한다.

모바일 에드 혹 네트워크(Mobile Ad hoc Network)는 이동성을 가진 노드로 구성된 네트워크로서, 통신기반 시설의 지원이 없어도 스스로 통신망을 구축하여 통신한다. 하지만 노드의 이동성으로 인한 토폴로지의 변화가 빈번하여, 라우팅 경로 재설정으로 인한 오버헤드가 생성된다. 오버헤드 생성을 줄이기 위하여 클러스터링을 이용한 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 클러스터가 형성된 MANET에서 클러스터 헤드 노드가 이동함에 따라 클러스터 영역을 벗어나게 되었을 경우, 클러스터 그룹에 속하는 멤버 노드들은 패킷을 보내지 못하며, 클러스터 헤드노드를 선출하지 못하여 사용할 수 없는 노드가 된다. 본 논문에서는 클러스터 헤드 노드가 클러스터 영역을 벗어날 경우, 클러스터 멤버노드의 상황인자 속성 벡터 정보가 유사한 클러스터 헤드노드를 이웃한 주변 클러스터 헤드로부터 검색 및 선택하여, 우회경로를 제공하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘에서 각 노드는 상황정보 매트릭스를 가지고 있어, 전송 커버리지 영역이 2홉 이내 반경에 있는 노드의 벡터 정보를 저장하게 된다. 클러스터 헤드 노드와의 연결이 끊어 졌을 경우, 클러스터 멤버 노드는 상황정보 매트릭스를 이용하여, 벡터정보가 유사한 클러스터 헤드 노드를 선택하여, 노드 간의 연결성 및 패킷의 전달성이 향상 된다.

본 논문은 무선 센서 네트워크의 에너지 효율적인 운영을 위해 무선 센서 네트워크 환경에 적합한 클러스터 헤드 선출 메커니즘을 제안한다. LEACH 와 같은 기존의 확률 모델 기반의 클러스터 헤드 선출 메커니즘들은 각 라운드마다 클러스터 헤드로 선출될 확률과 라운드 횟수 등을 바탕으로 클러스터 헤드를 선출한다. 그러나 이와 같은 방법은 각 노드의 상황을 고려하지 않아 네트워크의 수명을 단축시킬 수 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 각 센서 노드의 에너지 및 노드 분포 상황을 고려하여 클러스터 헤드를 선출해야 한다. 하지만 실제 무선 센서 네트워크 환경에서는 클러스터 헤드 선출을 위해 정확한 정보를 수집하고 이를 계산하는데 있어 큰 오버헤드가 발생하는 문제점이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 정보 수집 및 계산에 있어서 오버헤드를 줄이고 네트워크의 수명을 극대화하기 위하여 퍼지 논리를 이용한 퍼지 논리 기반의 클러스터 헤드 선출 메커니즘을 제안한다. Matlab 을 통한 시뮬레이션 결과 LEACH 에 비해 퍼지 논리 기반의 클러스터 헤드 선출 메커니즘을 이용했을 경우 네트워크 수명이 약 16.3% 향상되었다.

In the c-DSDV routing protocol proposed to improve the scalability of DSDV, clusterheads manage a routing table that has only clusterheads as potential destinations and flood update request message to its neighbor clusterheads periodically or at the time of topology change. Accordingly, the convergence range of topology change by a single update request message was expanded nine times as wide as that of DSDV, increasing routing correctness; however, c-DSDV suffers from the congestion of clusterheads since data packets always go through clusterheads of the clusters on the routing path. To improve this problem, we propose an adaptive routing scheme that judges if detouring clusterhead is possible on the fly while packets are forwarded. As a result, a routing path length is shortened and an end-to-end delay is improved by the reduced queue length. It shows that the end-to-end delay is reduced by almost 40% through simulation.

In MANET, the frequent movement of nodes causes the dynamic network topology changes. Therefore, it is required that the routing protocol should be very stable to effectively respond the changes of the network changes. Moreover, the existing cluster-based routing protocol, that is the hybrid approach, has routing delay due to the re-electing of the cluster header. In addition, the routing table of CBRP has all only one hop distant neighbor nodes. PCBRP, proposed in this paper, ties two clusters in one paired cluster to make longer radius. Then the headers of the paired cluster manage and operate corresponding member nodes. In the current CBRP, when the cluster header leaves out the cluster, the delay, due to the re-electing a header, should be occurred. However, in PCBRP, another cluster header of the paired cluster plays the role instead of the left cluster header. This method reduces the routing delay. Concurrently, PCBRP reduces the delay when they route nodes in the paired cluster internally.

Numerous papers that study ad hoc networks have used a hierarchical network structure to enhance scalability. The hierarchical structure typically consists of a number of clusters, each of which has its own clusterhead that maintains information. Clusterheads often need to exchange information among themselves in order to maintain information, and for such cases, a mechanism is needed to efficiently deliver information from one clusterhead to another. Here, we proposed a new distributed algorithm in which every node independently makes the decision about whether or not it forwards a received message. We used a simulation to demonstrate that the algorithm developed for this study is a considerable improvement over the control overhead algorithm.

무선 센서 네트워크를 구성하는 센서노드들이 클러스터를 구성하고 선출된 클러스터 헤드가 클러스터 내의 센서노드들로부터 데이터를 받아서 병합한 다음, 기지국으로 데이터를 전달하는 클러스터 기반 라우팅 방법이 연구되어 왔다. 이 클러스터 기반 라우팅 방법에서 클러스터 헤드에 고장이 발생한다면, 해당 클러스터의 데이터는 기지국으로 전달할 수 없어 데이터 신뢰성에 문제가 생긴다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 고장감내를 지원하는 클러스터 기반 라우팅 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 각 클러스터마다 백업 클러스터 헤드를 지정하여 원래의 클러스터 헤드에 고장이 발생한다면 백업 클러스터 헤드가 그 역할을 대신하도록 함으로써 데이터 전달의 신뢰성을 보장한다.

A novel c-DSDV routing protocol is proposed in clustered mobile ad hoc networks. Clusterheads that manage members in their own cluster construct a higher layer backbone to which the DSDV concept is applied. Each clusterhead maintains its own global routing table by exchanging Update Request (UREQ) messages with its neighboring clusterheads. A number of entries in the table is as small as a number of clusterheads unlike a number of nodes in DSDV Since a UREQ message travels from one clusterhead to all its neighboring clusterheads that are at most 3 hops away, the topology convergence range by each UREQ message is at least 9 times as wide as that of DSDV and CGSR, greatly improving accuracy of routing information. However, overhead in c-DSDV is similar to that of DSDV because only clusterheads initiate UREQ messages. Delivery ratio increases by about 32$\sim$50%.

In mobile ad-hoc networks, it should be the most important issue to reduce the power consumption of communications, because the resource of a node is limited in these networks. In existing cluster-based routing protocols, cluster headers participate in almost all communication processes. Therefore the lifetime of the cluster header is shortened and it does not have the effective route. In the proposed cluster-based routing protocol, the cluster header transmits a control packet which gives the route information to member nodes. This makes that the cluster header decreases the number of participating in communications, and that node members do not have to communicate trough the cluster header. This results in extending the lifetime of the cluster header, and having the effective route, data transmission rate and improved stability of routes.

Traditional cluster-based routing method is a representative method for increasing the energy efficiencies. In these cluster-based routing methods, the selected cluster head collect/aggregate the information and send the aggregated information to the base station. But they have to solve the unnecessary energy dissipation of frequent information exchange between the cluster head and whole member nodes in cluster. In this paper, we minimize the frequency of the information exchange for reducing the unnecessary transmit/receive frequencies as calculate the overlapped area or number of overlapped member nodes between the selected cluster head and previous cluster head in the setup phase. So, we propose the modified cluster selection protocol method that optimizes the energy dissipation in the setup phase and reuses the saved energy in the steady-state phase efficiently that prolongs the whole wireless sensor network lifetime by uniformly selecting the cluster head.
