GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) is a byproduct with engineering advantages and HVSC (High Volume Slag Concrete) is widely attempted due to active utilization and reduction of eco-load. In the present work, characteristics of drying shrinkage and early-aged behavior are evaluated for the concrete with 65% replacement ratio of GGBFS and 50MPa of design strength. For the work, 3 different mix conditions are considered and several tests including slump flow, compressive strength, drying and autogeneous shrinkage are performed. From the test, OPC 100 mixture without replacement shows higher strength development before 7 days, however the strength reduction in concrete replaced with GGBFS is not significant due to sufficient free water for cement hydration. OPC 100 mixture also shows significant drying shrinkage due to a great autogeneous shrinkage before 3 days. In the concrete with GGBFS replacement, the drying shrinkage behavior is improved due to relatively small deformation by autogeneous shrinkage. The mixture (OPT BS 65) with lower w/b ratio (0.27) and unit content of water ($160kg/m^3$) shows more improved shrinkage behavior than BS 65 mixture which has simple replacement of GGBFS with 0.30 of w/b and $165kg/m^3$ of water unit content.
This study was undertaken to investigate behavior characteristics of soil-cement piles in composite foundations through computer analysis. The soil-cement piles with cushion subjected to the vertical central loading only were analyzed using the program - “ABAQUS”. The investigation was conducted for various conditions including soil property, pile dimension, replacement ratio, pile/soil modular ratio, and load intensity. The results of analysis provided not only the load transfer and settlement behaviors but also the effective pile length and load distribution between a pile and soil. It was concluded that in the design of composite foundations, the modular ratio and replacement ratio are two design parameters.

Slag-CB is widely used in various fields that require groundwater control. It is a type of CB where a portion of the cement mixed with CB is replaced with GGBS. In general, Slag-CB has the advantage of long-term improvement in compressive strength, permeability, durability, and chemical resistance as the GGBS replacement ratio increases. However, there are problems such as decreased flexibility and resistance to deformation of the cut-off walls, as well as brittleness upon failure. To address these problems, some quality standards recommend designing Slag-CB with lower strength, which makes it challenging to apply high-strength Slag-CB with a high GGBS replacement ratio in the field. In this study, we aimed to improve the flexibility and resistance to deformation of Slag-CB to prevent brittle failure and improve the field applicability of Slag-CB. To achieve this, we evaluated the compressive behavior of nylon fiber-reinforced Slag-CB and proposed measures for enhancing the flexibility and resistance to deformation of Slag-CB.
This study describes the investigation based on centrifuge model tests for the clay ground improved by sand compaction pile. In order to clarify the failure behavior of composite ground improved by partly and fully penetrated SCPs. And, in order to compare the effect of the penetration ratio and the replacement area ratio, nine of the centrifuge tests were carried out. From the test results, settlement reduce ratio in the fully penetrated SCPs ground is bigger than that in the partly penetrated SCPs ground. It is also evaluated that angle of the failure of composite ground improved by SCP are 26, 25, $34^{\circ}$ for As=10%, 22, $29^{\circ}$ for As=30%. And as a result of rigid loading tests, surface displacement decreases linearly with the partly penetration ratio increased.

The crystallographic properties and cation distribution of oxyspinels ferrite $Co_xFe_{1-x}O_4$ thin films have been explored by X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and conversion electron $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy (CEMS). Thin films are prepared by sol-gel method. Normal spinel structure is transformed to inverse spinel structure with increasing Co concentration CEMS results indicate that most of $Fe^{3+}$ ions are substituted to $Co^{3+}$ions. Accordingly $Co^{2+}$ ions on octahedral site migrate to tetrahedral site. Magnetic moment is decreased with increasing Co concentration, which means high spin $Fe^{3+}$ ions are replaced by low spin $Co^{3+}$.
These days the amount of demolished concrete waste has been increasing due to reconstruction and redevelopment of aged buildings. So the use of recycled aggregates is recommended to solve environmental problems. Some investigations have been carried out to study the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams with recycled aggregates. But these have some limitation due to the use of low quality recycled aggregates and small-scale specimens in the laboratory. The purpose of this experimental study is to evaluate the flexural behavior of simply supported RC beams subjected to four-point monotonic loading and made with recycled aggregates. Seven full-scale RC beams were manufactured with different replacement level of recycled aggregates. The main parameters of the study are combination of aggregates. From the test results, the flexural behavior of the beam is described in terms of crack patterns and failure modes. And the flexural strength of RC beam with different types of recycled coarse aggregates and recycled fine aggregates is compared with the provision of KCI code.
Transient sorption experiments were conducted among several combinations of fluoropolymers and various organic solvents. Fully fluorinated polymer tended to exhibit ideal sorption behavior, while partially fluorinated polymers showed anomalous sorption behaviors with a drastic acceleration at the final stage of uptake. Minimization of least-squares of the measured and predicted fractional uptake, which indicated the increasing degree of deviation from Fickian diffusion, gave values of 3.0${\times}$10$\^$-4/, 1.75${\times}$10$\^$-3/, 8.68${\times}$10/sup-3/, 1.75${\times}$10$\^$-2/, respectively, for perfluoroalkoxy copolymer, poly(ethylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene), poly(vinylidene fluoride), poly(ethylene-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene). From stress-strain tests, it was confirmed that non-Fickian diffusion is closely related to the significant variation of mechanical properties (such as modulus and tensile strength) of swollen polymer. Anomalous sorption behavior stemmed from non-Fickian diffusion caused by nonlinear disruption of polar inter-segmental bonds due to solvent-induced plasticization. Thus, it is imperative to investigate the diffusion behavior of swelling solvents in partially fluorinated polymers, especially for the application to barrier materials or perm-selective membranes.

The bond behavior between concrete and reinforcement is a important requirement for reinforced concrete constructions. For practical application, it is very important to study bond behavior of reinforcing bars in recycled fine aggregate concrete. Therefore, pull-out test in order to investigate the bond behavior between recycled fine aggregate concrete and deformed bars was performed. Recycled fine aggregate concrete replacement ratios (i.e., 0% and 100%) and positions of deformed bars (i.e., vertical and horizontal position) were considered as variables in this study. Test results were compared with the bond strength requirement recommended by CEB-FIP code. Based on the test results, It was found that the bond strength between the recycled fine aggregate concrete and deformed bars were influenced by both recycled fine aggregate concrete replacement ratios and positions of deformed bars. The reduction of bonded area at the soffit of horizontal reinforcement caused by concrete bleeding was observed in H type specimen. So, Only V type and HB specimen satisfied the bond strength requirement recommended by CEB-FIP code.
