  • This study examines the effects of pre-employment efforts of the youth on their transition to the labor market. Labor market performance is accessed by the transitory period, the employment at workplace with more than 300 employees, and the wage level. Based on the effects of employment efforts for the first transitory period, job experience during school and preparatory period for employment would raise the likelihood of employment, but the school credit, grade in English, and the frequency of interviews, on the contrary, failed to reduce the transitory period. Employment effect varied according to educational background. In case of college graduates, vocational education and job experience during school were statistically significant variables leading them to decent jobs. On the other hand, in case of university graduates, job experience and language skills were proven to be important factors. Lastly, for the wage effect, in case of college graduates, vocational training, job experience during school, and English ability were proven to increase the wage level. However, vocational training after graduation and job experience during school decreased the wage level, but grade in English and pre-employment efforts during school increased the possibility of getting a decent, highly paid job for university graduates.

  • This study is a descriptive research to investigate the effects of nursing college students in graduation year, self-management competency and grit on employment preparation behavior. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 program, frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Self-management competency(r=.41, p<.001) and persistence of effort(r=.44, p<.001) of the grit sub-factor showed a positive correlation with employment preparation behavior. Interest consistency(r=-34, p<.001) of the grit sub-factor and employment preparation behavior showed a negative correlation. Self-management competency(β=.27, p<.01) and persistence of effort of the grit sub-factor(β=.22, p<.01) had a positive effect on employment preparation behavior. Interest consistency of grit sub-factor(β=-.32, p<.001) showed a negative effect on employment preparation behavior. In order to promote the employmentt preparation behavior of nursing students, it is necessary to improve self-management competency and persistence in effort. It also suggests that a strategy to suggest various nursing-related employment fields is needed to reduce interest consistency.

Higher college satisfaction increases job satisfaction of women workers with college degrees. Job training programs increase job satisfaction. However, job satisfaction relative to her skills and competency becomes lower when they complete a number of job training programs. Moreover, English education and job training programs exert positive influences over the effects of college satisfaction on job satisfaction of women workers with college degrees. Thus, although there are conflicting aspects, job training programs have potentials to contribute to the job satisfaction. The results of the study suggest that college life is closely related with their job experiences. However, Korean society neglects the importance of college relative to four-year university. Thus, Korean society exerts efforts toward enhancing the educational quality of college education.
