A Study on the Optical Bistable Characteristic of a Multi-Section DFB-LD (다전극 DFB-LD의 광 쌍안정 특성에 관한 연구)

  • A multi-section DFB-LD shows optical bistability subject to externally injected light signal, then it has potential applications such as wavelength conversion and optical logic gates. In this paper, we have studied the optical bistability in multi-section DFB-LD using split-step time-domain model. It is confirmed that the multi-section DFB-LD, which is excited inhomogeneously, shows bistability. The optical bistable characteristics are investigated when input light is injected into a absorptive region. Simulation results show that multi-section DFB-LD works as a flip-flop depending on the set-reset optical pulse which has a few ns in switching time and a few pj in switching energy, so that it can act as a optical logic device. Besides, if we change the carrier lifetime and the differential gain coefficient, it is expected that the response time of optical output signal can be reduced.

  • This paper deals with fuzzy $H_{\infty}$ filtering problem of discrete-time nonlinear Markovian jump systems with state and output time delays. The purpose is to design fuzzy $H_{\infty}$ filter such that the corresponding estimation error system with time delays and initial state uncertainties is stochastically stable and satisfies an $H_{\infty}$ performance level. A sufficient condition for the existence of fuzzy $H_{\infty}$ filter is given in terms of matrix inequalities. In order to relax conservatism, a stochastic mode dependent fuzzy Lyapunov function is employed. The Lyapunov function not only is dependent on the operation modes of system, but also includes the fuzzy membership functions. An illustrative example is finally given to show the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Shear Bond Strength of 3D Printed Concrete Layers According to Water Cement Ratio and Printing Time Gap (물시멘트비와 프린팅 시간간격에 따른 3D 프린팅 콘크리트 레이어의 전단부착강도)

  • The extrudability of 3D printed concrete and its member strength can be highly influenced by water cement ratio (W/C) and printing time gap (PTG). In this study, mold cast specimens and 3D printed specimens were fabricated with variables of W/C ratio and PTG, and their shear bond strength and interlayer surface moisture content were measured and analyzed. The test results showed that the shear bond strength is greatly influenced by the amount of interlayer surface moisture. It is thus recommended that proper amount of interlayer surface moisture with respect to PTG needs to be maintained to have a required interlayer shear bond strength. In addition, further research is required to estimate the effect of many environmental factors that can influence the interlayer surface moisture content.

Evaluation of High-power Light Emitting Diode Curing Light on Sealant Polymerization (고출력 발광 다이오드 광중합기의 치면열구전색제 중합능 평가)

  • This study aimed to determine whether the curing times of Xtra Power and High Power modes of high-power light emitting diode (LED) curing light are sufficient for polymerization of resin sealants. The specimens were prepared and their microhardness values were measured and compared with those of specimens polymerized under conventional LED curing light. The filled sealant polymerized for 8 seconds in the High Power mode and for 3 seconds in the Xtra Power mode showed significantly lower microhardness than the control specimen (p = 0.000). The unfilled sealant polymerized for 8, 12 seconds in the High Power mode and for 6 seconds in the Xtra Power mode showed significantly lower microhardness than the control specimen (p = 0.000). The results of this study suggest that the short curing time with the Xtra Power and High Power modes of highpower LED curing light are not sufficient for adequate polymerization of sealants under specific conditions, taking into account the curing times and the type of sealant.

A Study on Optimal Output Neuron Allocation of LVQ Neural Network using Variance Estimation (분산추정에 의한 LVQ 신경회로망의 최적 출력뉴런 분할에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 BP(Back Propagation)에 비해서 빠른 학습시간과 다른 경쟁학습 신경회로망 알고리즘에 비해서 비교적 우수한 성능으로 패턴인식 등에 많이 이용되고 있는 LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization) 알고리즘의 성능을 향상시키기 위한 방법을 논의하고자 한다. 일반적으로 LVQ는 음(negative)의 학습을 하기 때문에 초기 가중치가 제대로 설정되지 않으면 발산할 수 있다는 단점이 있으며, 경쟁학습 계열의 신경망이기 때문에 출력 층의 뉴런 수에 따라 성능에 큰 영향을 받는다고 알려져 있다.[1]. 지도학습 형태를 지닌 LVQ의 경우에 학습패턴이 n개의 클래스를 가지고, 각 클래스 별로 학습패턴의 수가 같은 경우에 일반적으로 전체 출력뉴런에 대해서 (출력뉴런수/n)개의 뉴런을 각 클래스의 목표(desired) 클러스터로 할당하여 학습을 수행하는데, 본 논문에서는 각 클래스에 동일한 수의 출력뉴런을 할당하지 않고, 학습데이터에서 각 클래스의 분산을 추정하여 각 클래스의 분산을 추정분산에 비례하게 목표 출력뉴런을 할당하고, 초기 가중치도 추정분산에 비례하게 각 클래스의 초기 임의 위치 입력백터를 사용하여 학습을 수행하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 분류하고자 하는 데이터에 대해서 필요한 최적의 출력뉴런 수를 찾는 것이 아니라 이미 결정되어 있는 출력뉴런 수에 대해서 각 클래스에 할당할 출력 뉴런 수를 데이터의 추정분산에 의해서 결정하는 것으로, 추정분산이 크면 상대적으로 많은 출력 뉴런을 할당하고 작으면 상대적으로 적은 출력뉴런을 할당하고 초기 가중치도 마찬가지 방법으로 결정하며, 이렇게 하면 정해진 출력뉴런 개수 안에서 각 클래스 별로 분류의 어려움에 따라서 출력뉴런을 할당하기 때문에 미학습 뉴런이 줄어들게 되어 성능의 향상을 기대할 수 있으며, 실험적으로 제안된 방법이 더 나은 성능을 보임을 확인했다.initially they expected a more practical program about planting than programs that teach community design.   • A Critical issue in the performance of a video-on-demand system is the required I/O bandwidth of the Video server in order to satisfy clients requests, and it is the crucial resource that may cause delay increasingly. Several approaches such as batching and piggybacking are used to reduce the I/O demand on the video server through sharing. Bathing approach is to make single I/O request for storage server by grouping the requests for the same object. Piggybacking is th policy for altering display rates of requests in progress for the same object to merge their corresponding I/O streams into a single stream, and serve it as a group of merged requests. In this paper, we propose a reservation-based hybrid disk bandwidth reduction policy that dynamically reserves the I/O stream capacity of a video server for popular videos according to the loads of video server in order to schedule the requests for popular videos immediately. The performance of the proposed policy is evaluated through simulations, and is compared with that of bathing and piggybacking. As a result, we know that the reservation-based hybrid disk bandwidth reduction policy provides better probability of service, average waithing time and percentage of saving in frames than batching and piggybacking policy.

Correction of TDC Position for Engine Output Measuring in Marine Diesel Engines (선박용 디젤엔진의 출력산정을 위한 TDC 위치보정에 관한 연구)

  • The accurate engine output is basically one of important factors for the analysis of engine performance. Nowadays in-cylinder pressure analysis in internal combustion engine is also an indispensable tool for engine research and development, environment regulation and maintenance of engine. Here, it is essential more than anything else to find the correct TDC(Top Dead Center) position for the accuracy of engine output for diesel engine. Therefore this study is to analyze affecting factors to TDC position in 2-stroke large low speed engine and to suggest new method for determining correct TDC position. In the previous paper, it was mentioned that the accuracy of engine output is influenced by the determination of exact TDC position, and that 'Angle based sampling' method is better than 'Time based sampling' method in terms of precision. It was confirmed that there is 'Loss of angle', which is a difference between compression pressure peak and real TDC caused by heat loss and blow by of gas leakage. Consequently we invented new method, called "An improved method of time based sampling", which can obtain the correct engine output. The results by this method with compensating loss of angle was shown the same result by the 'Angle based sampling' method in encoder setting cylinder. This study is to suggest the new measuring method of exact engine output, and to examnine the reliance on the outcome.

The Buildability and Strength Properties of 3D Printed Concrete in the Air and Underwater Environment (수중과 기중환경에서 출력된 3D 프린팅 콘크리트의 적층성능 및 강도 특성 분석)

  • This study evaluated the buildability and mechanical properties of 3DP concrete printed in air and underwater environments. Buildability was evaluated by green strength test on fresh concrete and height and deflection immediately and 1 hour after printing. The green compressive strength of the concrete was 5.0 kPa after 30 minutes and 7.9 kPa after 3 hours, an increase of 1.6 times the initial strength. The total height of the laminated parts met the design height regardless of the printing environment. The amount of deflection in air and under water 1 hour after printing was 1 mm and 0.2 mm, respectively, indicating a small amount of deflection under water. The apparent density of the sample appeared in the order of A-M > A-P > UW-P. This is believed to be because a large amount of air is mixed into the concrete during the printing process, and water infiltrates during the underwater printing process. The compressive strength ratio of UW-P/A-P was 0.86 at 1 day, but the compressive strength of the underwater printed concrete was high from 7 days.

  • B$\Phi$rrensen proposed a coarse mesh, three-dimensional one-and-half group diffusion scheme for computing the gross power distribution in light water reactors as an alternative to the conventional fine mesh finite difference approach in dealing with three dimensional problems, which require a prohibitively long computing time. The method reported takes extremely small execution time. However, its computational accuracy has not been investigated yet. The B$\Phi$rrensen method is revised in this work and both efficiency and accuracy are examined by applying it to IAEA benchmark problem and RIS$\Phi$ benchmark problem. It is found that two modifications on core-reflector boundary conditions and B$\Phi$rrensen's model constants may improve computational accuracy of power distribution calculation.

  • 전력선 통신 채널에는 특징적으로 충격 잡음이 존재하며, 전력선 통신 시스템의 성능 열화에도 많은 영향을 준다. 이는 일반적인 배경 잡음에 비해 많게는 수십 dB 이상의 레벨을 가지면서, 임의 시간적으로 발생함으로써 추정 및 제어 또한 어렵기 때문이며, 전력선 통신 시스템이 Mbps급으로 고속화 되면서 주파수 대역이 확장되고, 확장된 대역상에 다중 반송파를 이용하여 대용량의 데이터를 전송하는 변복조기법들이 적용됨에 따라, 시간 영역에서 비교적 짧은 시간 동안 존재하는 충격 잡음이 주파수 영역에서 사용 주파수 전체 대역상에 영향을 줌으로써 시스템 전체 성능 저하의 큰 요인이 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 충격 잡음이 고속 전력선 통신 시스템에서 사용되는 OFDM(또는 DMT) 방식 수신기의 복조기 출력단 SNR에 미치는 영향을 분석 및 단순화하고, 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증한다.
