Study on Accumulation of Ni in Seedlings and Growth rate of Salix reichardtii by Hydroponic Culture in Ni Solution (수경재배에 의한 Salix reichardtii 묘의 생장 및 부위별 Ni축적에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to provide preliminary data to purify contaminated sites by nickel (Ni). After rooted cuttings of Salix reichardtii had been grown in Ni solution (hydroponic culture), pH changes in the solution and the accumulated Ni amount in plant parts were measured and analyzed. When the Ni concentration was low enough for S. reichardtii cuttings to grow well, the pH value of the solution decreased considerably. As the Ni concentration got higher, the plant growth got poorer and the pH value decreased slowly. Roots accumulated the highest Ni amount. Leaves and stems followed after. When stems were older, the accumulated Ni amount was lower. more Ni was accumulated in the plant parts which had more flexible tissue and live cells. As the Ni concentration in solution got higher up to 50.0 ${\mu}mol$/L, so did the Ni accumulation in the plant parts. However, the plant individuals nearly died and the Ni accumulation tended to drop when the Ni concentration in solution was 100.0 ${\mu}mol$/L. The rooted cuttings of S. reichardtii grew poorer as the Ni concentration in solution got higher. The plants in solution with 100.0 ${\mu}mol$/L of Ni were practically dead in four weeks.

Heavy Metals Uptake Capability and Growth of Fifteen Compositae Plants for Phytoremediation (식물환경복원 소재선발을 위한 국화과 15종의 생육 및 중금속 축적능 분석)

  • This study was performed to select the effective plant for phytoremediation of heavy metal contaminated areas. After cultivation of fifteen Compositae plants on soil contaminated with heavy metals for 8 weeks, the growth response and accumulation ability of each parts for heavy metal, such as arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, and zinc were analyzed. Except Adiantum capillus-veneris, growth of Aster incisus, Coreopsis drumondii), Dendranthema indicum, Saussurea pulchella were relatively fine. Arsenic accumulation ability was the highest by Artemisia gmelini ($25.52mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$ DW) in underground part, and D. sichotense ($3.35mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$) in aerial part. Cadmium was the highest by Aster magnus ($2.50mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$) in aerial part. Aerial and underground part of S. pulchella showed the highest copper accumulation (24.29, $99.92mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$). In lead, 1.43 (A. magnus)${\sim}5.00mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$ (S. deltoides) were accumulated in aerial part among fifteen Compositae plants. Aster hayatae ($140.09mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$), Aster yomena ($109.07mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$), A. magnus ($100.21mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$) are absorbed more than $100mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$ of Zinc. Therefore, they are considered to be phytoremediation material of zinc contaminated areas.

Effects of Foliar Application of Glycine Betaine on the Growth and Contents of Osmolyte in Tomato Seedling (Glycine betaine 엽면 처리가 토마토 유묘의 생육과 삼투조절물질 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of exogenously foliar applied glycine betaine (GB) on the growth and contents of osmolyte in tomato seedling was investigated. Plants treated with exogenous glycine betaine induced better biomass production and plant height during chilling stress than the untreated plants. The total soluble sugar contents in GB foliar-applied plants lower than that of untreated plants 28 days after foliar application. Total water soluble protein contents in GB foliar-applied plants did not change 28 days after chilling stress. In untreated plant, it decreased rapidly in the beginning of chilling stress. Proline contents in untreated plants rapidly increased by the beginning of chilling stress, and then slightly decreased during the next 3 weeks. However proline contents in GB foliar-applied plants did not change during the 28 days chilling stress period. The results suggest that foliar application of GB is a effect methods to increase the chilling tolerance of tomato seedlings in protected cultivation system at low temperature season.

Distribution of Saponin in Various Sections of panax ginseng root and Change of Its Contents According to Root Age (고려인삼근의 부위별 년근별 사포닌 함량 및 분포)

  • This study was carried out to get basic information that can be used in quality control for processing ginseng products and also in separation of pure ginsenosides for experimental purpose. The composition of various parts of 6 year-old ginseng was 4.1% of rhizome (node), 47.7% of main root, 34.1% of lateral root and 14.1% of fine Toot on dried weight basis. The weight ratios of epidermis-cortex and xylem were about 1 : 1 in main root and about 2 : 1 in lateral root. The distribution of total saponin content shows 29.2% in main root, 34.6% in lateral root, 29.1% in fine root and 7% in rhizome, but the order of the content per unit weight was fine root > rhizome > lateral root > main root. Total saponin content according to age of root was increased gradually within 3% for 6 years, as compared with two year old root. In view of the increase of root weight owing to the net amount of saponin in root increased continuously. The increase rates of total saponins per year were 3.1,12.3,19.8,43.8 and 21.1% in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 years-old ginseng root, respectively.

  • In order to increase the rate of ripening during the grain-forming stage the partial dressing was introduced with the ordinary dressing comparatively. Two different rice varieties, Bong-kwang(early) and Nong-kwang (moderate), grown at the fine sand alluvial soil of River, Han Kimpo, were investigated. To evaluate the photosynthetic ability of these treatments assimilation rate of Carbon-14 was effectively carried out with the active leaves of rice at the maturing stage, and the inorganic constituents of leaves, stem, leaf sheath and grain were analyzed. All the data on the photosynthetic ability, inorganic constituent and yield determining were discussed with the point of continual phloem translocation between those plant organs.

새만금 간척지 적응 구근화훼작물 선발과 경관농업 이용

  • 전북 서해안 새만금 지역에 조성되는 간척지 면적 28,300ha의 30%인 8,400ha 정도가 농업용지로 사용되는 계획이 확정됨에 따라 해당 용지를 효율적으로 사용 할 수 있는 다양한 활용 방안이 요구되고 있다. 대단위 농업지구가 들어설 예정지인 새만금 광활 간척지는 네덜란드와 유사하게 토양의 대부분이 미사질 양토로 이루어져있어 적용 가능한 화훼류를 적절히 선발하고 적합한 재배기술을 도입한다면 대규모 화훼제배 단지로서의 성장 가능성이 충분할 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 전북 농업기술원에서는 2004년부터 7년에 걸쳐 새만금 간척지의 농업적 활용도 제고와 경관농업 육성을 통한 관광자원화 가능성을 확인하기 위하여 72종의 원예작물 적응시험을 실시하였으며 22종의 자생식물과 튤립, 아이리스, 수선화, 히아신스, 참나리 등 5종의 구근 화훼류를 적합 화훼류로 선발하였다. '08~09년에는 내염성과 저온 및 풍해 저항성이 있는 아펠톤, 골든아펠톤, 네그리타, 프랑소와즈, 키스네리스 등을 간척지적용 가능 주요 튤립 품종으로 선발 하였는데 선발된 품종들을 대상으로 높은 염농도 하에서의 체내축적 무기성분을 조사한 결과, K와 Mg은 증가되는 경향이었으나 Ca은 감소되었으며, Cl이온은 현저하게 증가하였다. 또한 튤립체내의 산도 및 전기전도도와 항산화효소의 활성이 증가하였는데 스트레스 반응결과 유해산소가 체내에 축적되고, 이를 중화시키기 위하여 수소이온을 소모함으로써 체내의 산도는 상승된 것으로 추정되며 염분함량이 높을수록 삼투압에 의하여 뿌리에서 흡수는 양분이 적은 반면 잎 줄기의 증산작용은 동일하기 때문에 상대적으로 체내의 농도가 높아져 전기전도도가 상승된 것으로 판단된다. 식물 스트레스의 지표물질로 사용되고 있는 proline 함량도 토양내의 염도가 상승되면서 증가되었으며 엽록소 함량은 감소되는 경향을 보였다.

  • The main purpose of this study was to select a B. schmidtii population which has high cadmium tolerance and remediation and to determine the difference of cadmium uptake patterns among populations. One-year-old B. schmidtii seedlings were treated with 0, 0.4, 0.8mM CdSO$_4$. 3/8H$_2$O for two months. Cadmium concentrations in different positions of stem and cadmium concentrations and contents of leaves, stems and roots were analyzed. Also soil cadmium concentrations were analyzed. B. schmidtii was highest in root and lowest in shoot tip, showing a gradual decrease from root to shoot tip. The shoot to root Cd concentration ratios were over 1.26. It is concluded that B. schmidtii has good potential for phytoextraction as a shoot accumulator, which can be used for remediation of cadmium-contaminated areas. But tolerance differs between populations. Therefore B. schmidtii should be used as a means of phytoremediation after selection for Cd tolerance is performed.

Changes of Physicochemical Properties of Conjugated Linoleic Acid(CLA) Accumulated Pork during Storage Time (Conjugated Linoleic Acid(CLA)가 축적된 돈육의 저장기간중 이화학적 특성변화)

  • To investigate the effects of dietary conjugated linoleic acid 011 changes of physicochemical properties of pork. Twenty pigs were divided into 5 treatment groups and subjected to each experimental diet(0, 1.25% and 2.5% CLA for 2 weeks, 1.25% and 2.5% CLA for 4 weeks, as total fed diet before slaughtering(about 110 kg). Pork loin samples were aerobically packed and stored for 14 days at 4$^{\circ}C$. Samples were then analyzed for general compositions, physicochemical characteristics and sensory evaluation. pH value of CLA fed group pork was significantly increased than that of control group(p<0.05). Crude fat content of CLA treated group pork was significantly higher than the control pork(p<0.05), but there were no significant differences in crude protein, crude ash and total moisture contents between control and CLA treated groups. AU CLA fed group pork showed higher WHC value than control pork. Drip loss was significantly lower compared to those of control porks. No significant differences in lean meat and fat color(CIE L*, a*, b*) were observed between control and the CLA treated group porks. Meanwhile, CLA pork tended to be lower in content of total heme pigment compared to control pork. No remarkable differences were found in sensory properties(color and drip loss) among control and CLA diet-fed group porks. Marbling score and acceptability were significantly increased in CLA diet-fed pork compared to the control pork.

Effects of Hagocho (Prunella vulgaris L.), Gamgook (Chrysanthemum indicum L.) and Galgeun (Pueraria Radix) on Plasma Lipid Compositin and Histological Consideration in Hyperlipidemic Rat (하고초, 감국 및 갈근 증류액이 비만쥐의 지질구성 및 각종 장기의 해부조직학적 소견에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of prunella vulgaris L., chrysanthemum indicum L. and pueraria Radix on plasma lipid composition and histological consideration were investigated in hyperlipidemic rats. Concentration of plasma ${\beta},-lipoprotein$ showed a tendence to decrease in prunella vulgaris L., chrysanthemum indicum L. and pueraria Radix treatment groups. However these values were showed not significantly different from control group. Concentration of plasma FFA in prunella vulgaris L., chrysanthemum indicum L. and pueraria Radix treatment groups showed a lower values compared to control group and concentration of plasma FFA of prunella vulgaris L. and pueraria Radix treatment group showed a lower values than prunella vulgaris L. and chrysanthemum indicum L. treatment group. Concentration of plasma glucose and triglyceride showed a tendence to decrease in prunella vulgaris L., chrysanthemum indicum L. and pueraria Radix treatment groups. However plasma glucose values showed not significantly different from control group. Plasma total cholesterol concentration showed a low and HDL-cholesterol concentration showed a high in prunella vulgaris L. and pueraria Radix treatment group. However LDL-cholesterol concentrations were not significantly different in treatment groups. Histological consideration of heart, liver and kidney in prunella vulgaris L. and pueraria Radix treatment groups showed a good features in fat accumulation condition than those of other treatment groups. However in the condition of high fat accumulation in tissues, heart, liver and kidney were showed a slight congestion and a bashed cell nucleus.
