Pulse-mode Response Characteristics of a Small LRE for the Precise 3-axes Control of Flight Attitude in SLV (우주발사체의 비행자세 3축 정밀제어를 위한 소형 액체로켓엔진의 펄스모드 응답특성)

  • A liquid-monopropellant hydrazine thruster has several outstanding advantages such as relatively-simple structure, long/stable propellant storability, clean exhaust products, and so on. Therefore hydrazine thruster has such a wide application as orbit and attitude control system (ACS) for space vehicles. A hydrazine thruster with the medium-level thrust to be used in the ACS of space launch vehicles (SLV) has been developed, and its ground firing test result is presented in terms of thrust, impulse bit, temperature, and chamber pressure. It is verified through the performance test that the response and repeatability of thrust are very excellent, and the thrust efficiencies compared to its ideal requirement are larger than 93%.

  • Propulsion System provides the required velocity change impulse for orbit transfer from parking orbit to mission orbit and three-axis vehicle attitude control impulse. KOMPSAT-2 propulsion system(PS) is an all-welded, monopropellant hydrazine system. The PS consists of the subassemblies and components such as Thrusters, Propellant Tank, Pressure Transducer, Propellant Filter, Latching Isolation Valves, Fill/Drain Valves, interconnecting propellant line assembly, and thermal hardwares for operation-environment control of the PS. This paper summarizes a development process of the liquid propulsion system from the design engineering up to the test and evaluation.

  • The mono-hydrazine thrusters which have been selected for satellite auxilliarly propulsion system since 1960s were koreanized for KOMPSAT attitude control. In this paper, design and manufacturing, test of the mono-hydrazine thruster were briefly reviewed with KOMPSAT attitude control thrusters and the key technology to be developed in the future for various small thrusters of launch vehicle, satellite and guidance missile were proposed.

  • A computational analysis of nozzle flow is conducted to investigate effects of the flight altitude on thrust performance. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation with k-${\omega}$ SST(Shear Stress Transport) turbulence model is employed to simulate the nozzle flow in various altitude conditions, where continuum mechanics is to be valid. Thrust performance of the nozzle is exceedingly poor upto 10 km of flight altitude because of the irreversible phenomena such as shock and/or flow separation occurring inside the nozzle, whereas it is restored to the nominal value as the altitude is attained higher than 30 km.

  • 위성체의 보조추진시스템은 임구궤도까지의 궤도진입 및 임무궤도상에서의 속도 또는 자세제어에 필요한 임펄스를 제공한다. 단일하이드라진 추력기는 하이드라진(H$_2$H$_4$)과 자발적 촉매(Shell 405)의 발열 및 흡열 열분해 반응에 의해 발생하는 질소($N_2$), 수소(H$_2$), 암모니아(NH$_3$), 혼합가스를 노즐을 통해 방출하므로써 요구되는 impulse를 얻는다. 단일하이드라진 추력기 설계는 주입기, 촉매대, 노즐과 기타 설계 형태에 따른 다지관, 링, 스크린, 지지판 등의 부수적인 부품으로 구성된다. 추력기 제작 과정은 크게 piece-parts 기계가공, HEA(Head End Assembly)와 TCA(Thrust Chamber Assembly)로 구성되고 각 세부공정마다 전수시험 및 검사를 가진다. 연소시험설비는 최소 모사진 공 수준이 고도 100,000 ft(8.4 torr)를 만족시킬 수 있는 진공설비, 시험제어부, 성능변수 측정 및 처리부, 추진제 가압 공급부, 기타 환경 안전 및 부대 설비로 구성된다. 추력기 연소성능시험 절차는 추진제 충전 및 오염 여부 표본 검사, 가압 및 공급 라인 이상여부 확인, 추력기 장착, 추진제 가압 및 공급, 시험장치 보정, 진공 모사 및 연소성능시험, data 처리 등으로 구성된다.

  • A development of monopropellant thruster for microsatellite that uses concentrated hydrogen peroxide is described. Catalyst, the most important component in the thruster, was prepared and coated on a monolith honeycomb. Performance evaluation of thruster was peformed by considering the efficiency of characteristic velocity and ignition delay. As a result, 96.0% of $C^*$ efficiency was obtained at designed propellant flowrate and steady state operating condition.

  • In general, such ground based methods are utilized to validate maneuvering and attitude control logics of a spacecraft by a simulation with a flight software at a design phase and a integrated function test with actual hardwares at a system level. Recently, varification researches using operating simulators are getting increase using compact and precise components under a ground condition. The present paper investigates and summarized the development trend of cold gas propulsion systems for the spacecraft simulators and their major performance characteristics to derive fundamental data which are necessary for a conceptual design of the simulator.

  • Recently, a validation research of maneuvering and attitude control logics of a spacecraft under a ground condition is getting increase by using operating simulators with compact and precise components. For that, a cold gas propulsion system is generally used for maneuvering and attitude control of spacecraft ground simulators for its simplicity and a high reliability. In the present study, major design parameters of a cold gas propulsion system are derived to meet mission requirements based on conceptual design results of a simulator. And additionally, commercial components with proper specifications are selected for system assembly.

  • The development of the DCS thrust unit during the attitude control thruster of the launch vehicle and guided missile is introduced. The DCS thrust unit using solid propellants based on a two-axis control is designed and through the thermo-structural and flow analysis is designed in detail. The performance of the thrust unit based on the detail design is demonstrated through a combustion test.

  • 본 논문에서는 통신해양기상위성의 추력기 구동장치에 대하여 기술하였다. 위성에서는 위성체 전력공급을 위한 태양전지판, 위성의 자세제어를 위한 모멘텀 휠과 추진계, 온도제어 등을 담당하는 다양한 추력기 (actuator)가 존재한다. 위성의 안정적인 동작을 위해 각각의 추력기를 제어하기 위한 전기 및 기계 접속 요구사항을 수용하는 인터페이스 기능을 담당하는 추력기 구동장치 (Acutator Drive Electronics, ADE)가 필요하다. 통신해양기상위성의 추력기 구동장치는 안정적인 동작을 위해서 1개의 ADE5 구조체 안에 ADE5 A와 ADE5 B가 중복되어서 구현되었다. ADE5는 ADE5 A와 B가 수동적 중복구조를 갖지만, 추력기와 ADE5 A, B가 상호연결되어 있어서 위성의 상태에 따라서 2개의 ADE5 A, B가 혼합적으로 사용될 수 있다.
