A Study of Matimum Run-up Heights of Periodic Waves (주기파의 최대 처오름높이에 관한 연구)

  • The maximum run-up heights of periodic waves are numerically investigated in this study. Incident waves are sinusoidal and enoidal waves. The maximum run-up height of enoidal wave approaches that of sinusoidal wave as the wave length decreases, while it approaches that of solitary wave as the wave length increases. If wave height is fixed, the maximum run up heights of enoidal waves are always greater than those of sinusoidal waves but smaller than those of solitary waves.

  • 고립파는 다른 파들과는 달리 파고만 주어지면 파형이 결정되고 변형 없이 장거리를 전파시켜 처오름높이를 가장 잘 재현할 수 있기 때문에 지진해일의 많은 연구에서 입사파로 사용되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 한양대학교 수리학 및 해안공학 연구실에서 보유중인 서보-피스톤 타입 조파기로 고립파를 발생시켜 2차원 조파수조 내부에 설치되어있는 동해안 경사모형에서 각 수심 및 상대파고에 따른 고립파의 처오름높이 측정실험을 수행하였다. 다수의 파고계를 이용하여 각 구역에서 수심 및 상대파고에 따른 고립파의 파형을 측정하였고, 경사면에서 처오름높이 분포의 최대와 최소, 평균값을 측정하였다. 측정된 실험결과를 바탕으로 동해안에서의 고립파 처오름높이에 대해서 서술하였다.

Generation and Maximum Run-up Heights of Cnoidal Waves (크노이드파의 발생과 최대 처오름높이)

  • This paper describes the generation and maximum run-up heights of cnoidal waves with varying periods by the numerical model. The model solves the Reynolds equations and the k-epsilon equations for the turbulent analysis. To track free surface displacements, the volume of fluid(VOF) method is employed. It is shown that profiles of the numerically generated cnoidal waves agree well with analytical solutions. The computed maximum run-up heights are compared with laboratory measurements and those of the boundary element method. The present model provides more agreeable results to laboratory measurements that the boundary element model.

  • The maximum run-up heights of single waves are investigated in this study. A boundary intergral equation model is used to calculate the maximum urn-up heights of both solitary and N-waves. The effect of the bottom friction is considered in the model through a boundary layer theory. The calculated run-up heights are compared with available laboratory measurements, and other numerical and approximate analytical solutions. They are in good agreement.

  • 2011년 동일본 지진해일의 영향으로 우리나라에도 지진해일에 관한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이러한 지진해일은 대규모 자연재해로써 한 번 발생하면 수많은 인명피해와 막대한 재산피해를 발생시킨다. 또한, 근래에 들어 세계적으로 해저지진의 발생빈도가 증가하는 추세이므로 이에 대한 대비책을 마련해둘 필요성이 있다. 하지만 이런 지진해일은 발생시점에 대한 예측이 불가능하기 때문에 역사 및 가상 지진해일의 수치모형실험결과를 이용하여 영향을 검토한다. 본 연구에서는 부산항 신항이 완공되면 추후 발전가능성이 높은 송도와 연도지역에 대해서 지진해일에 의한 최대 처오름높이와 최저 처내림높이를 계산하였으며, 모두 3가지 지진해일에 대해 수치모의 하였다.

  • The run-up process of the 1983 Central East Sea Tsunami along the Eastern Coast is numerically investigated in this study. A finite difference numerical model based on the nonlinear shallow-water equations is employed. The maximum run-up height at Imwon is predicted and compared to field observation. A good agreement is observed. A maximum inundation map is made based on the maximum run-up heights to accentuate hazards of tsunami flooding.

  • The present study aims to document the run-up height, losses of human lives and property damage due to the tsunami occurred on December 26, 2004 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India. These Islands were severely devastated by the tsunami. Approximately 1,925 people were lost their lives and 5,555 people were reported missing. A field survey conducted at 26 sites indicates that the run-up height reached its maxima of 17.3 m at the passenger jetty of Little Andaman area and the Chdiyatopu area was inundated 500 m from the coastline.

  • Using a numerical model solving the shallow-water equations, unusual huge run-up heights observed in the lees of both Babi and Okushiri islands were investigated in detail. The effects of incident tsunami widths were particularly examined by adjusting the transverse length of the wave-maker in laboratory and numerical experiments. The calculated run-up heights were compared with the laboratory experimental data. It has been found that the run-up heights in the lee of a conical island are strongly dependent on the ratio of a transverse length of incident tsuanmis to a base diameter of the island.   • A boundary element method with a Lagrangian approach and B-spline technique is employed to investigate characteristics of solitary waves attacking on beach slopes. By comparing numerical solutions with available laboratory measurements, it is shown that the maximum run-up heights of the present model are more agreeable than those of the existing numerical model. Variations of run-up heights and velocity vectors for different slopes are also described. Characteristics of hydrodynamic pressure acting beach slopes are investigated in detail.
