  • In order to synthesize the partially stabilized $\alpha$-Sialon, A1N and Y2O3 were added to synthesized $\alpha$-Si3N4. The phase composition, mechanical properties, micro structure, etc, of the synthesized $\alpha$-Sialon were investigated. Partially stabilized $\alpha$-Sialon ceramics could be synthesized from the composition which was a little deviated from x=0.4, x=0.6 composition along the Si3N4.0.1Y2O3:0.9AlN tie line at 1750-180$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs in N2 atmosphere. It is assumed that A1N is more closely related than Y2O3 to the formation of $\alpha$-Sialon, and that A1N is more easily dissolved into $\alpha$-structure than into $\beta$-structure. In Ya2O3-rich phase mechanical properties were observed to be poor because of formation of mellilite, grain growth, and thermal decomposition of $\alpha$-Sialon. The maximum values of M.O.R, KIC and hardness are 723 MPa, 4.5MN/㎥/2 and 19.3 GPa, respectively, and they were observed for the $\alpha$-Sialon ceramics sintered at 178$0^{\circ}C$.

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm that the formation and influencing factors of ocean governance in Busan. Recently it has been observed that the concept of ocean governance increasingly popular in the field of maritime administration, as the concept helps us understand more comprehensively the new or emerging roles of the government and other stakeholders(private enterprise, citizen, etc) in a rapidly changing environments. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the status of ocean governance and draw alternatives in applying appropriate ocean governance structure of maritime administration in Busan. The result of this study shows that ocean governance level in Busan was not high in some factors such as participation, cooperation, collective decision making. This is caused by the lack of a ocean governance structure. Based on these significant research findings, theoretical and practical implications were discussed.

  • This study was carried out to see what makes the 'dark grey cutworm', Agrotis tokionis Butler, inflict less damage in P.E. film-mulched tobacco fields than in nonmulched ones. In field plot experiment, the damage ratio of tobacco seed lings in mulched plots(m) was reduced by 63% compared with that in non mulched ones(n). The altered environments did not affect the cutworm in mortality, which was confirmed by recovery ratio, location of larvae in soil, and developmental age. But the m/n value and damage ratio in plots of different mulching methods strongly suggest that the P.E. film itself prevent larvae from cutting the plants. Larval mortality was rapidly increased between the end of July and the end of August.

  • Flight tests on flight control performance of helicopter, conversion and airplane mode for the Smart UAV were completed. Automatic take-off and landing, automatic return home as well as automatic approach to hover were performed in helicopter mode. Climb/descent, left/right turn using speed and altitude hold mode were performed in each $10^{\circ}$ tilt angle in conversion mode. The rotor speed in airplane mode was reduced to 82% from 98% RPM in order to increase rotor efficiency with reducing Mach number at tip of rotors. It reached to the designed maximum speed, $V_{TAS}$=440 km/h at 3 km altitude. This paper presents the flight test result on full envelopment of Smart UAV. Detailed test plan and test data on control performance were also presented to prove that all data meets the flying qualities requirement.

  • The direct synthesis of $C_2$ chemical directly from methane was studied by employing catalysts with ordered mesopores in a dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor. The reaction was carried out using MgO/OMA (ordered mesoporous alumina), $MgO/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ and $MgO/{\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ as catalysts. When MgO/OMA was applied, it showed excellent performance in the plasma reactor using pulse-type power supply and the selectivity of $C_2$ chemicals was measured as 67%. The effects of metal oxide type, textural property of support, alumina phase and power supply type on catalytic performance were investigated especially in terms of $C_2$ chemical formation. BET (Brunauer, Emmett, Teller), X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope and thermogravimetric analysis were used to investigate the characterization of the catalyst before and after the reaction.

  • Powder samples of natural lawsonite (Ca-lawsonite, $CaAl_2Si_2O_7(OH)_2{\cdot}H_2O$) was studied structurally up to 8 GPa at room temperature using monochromatic synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and a diamond anvil cell (DAC) with a methanol : ethanol : water (16 : 3 : 1 by volume) mixture solution as a penetrating pressure transmitting medium (PTM). Upon pressure increase, lawsonite does not show any apparent pressure induced expansion (PIE) or phase transition. Pressure-volume data were fitted to a second-order Birch-Murnaghan equation of state using a fixed pressure derivative of 4 leading to a bulk modulus ($B_0$) of 146(6) GPa. This compression is further characterized to be isotropic with calculated linear compressibilities of ${\beta}^a=0.0022GPa^{-1}$, ${\beta}^b=0.0024GPa^{-1}$, and ${\beta}^c=0.0020GPa^{-1}$.

  • This study has been conducted to evaluate the effects of a single stage anaerobic co-biogasification of food waste and primary sewage sludge mixture (1 : 5 V/V%) according to mixing ratio (0% : CAP0, 0.5% : CAP0.5, 1%: CAP1.0) in red pepper powder, which was reported as the material anti-bacterial and anti-fungi, under mesophilic condition ($35^{\circ}C$). during 31 days. It showed that red pepper powder effected anaerobic bacteria, Especially, Hydrolytic bacteria and methanogenic bacteria was inhibited much more than Acetogenic bacteria with red pepper powder. at CAP0, Experimental cumulative methane yield (ECMY) and Experimental bio-energy production (EBEP) were 0.17 L $CH_4/g$ $VS_{fed}$ and 1,465 cal/g $VS_{fed}$ individually as the highest value during 31 days.

  • In this paper, we provide an authentication technology for verifying dynamic signature made by finger on smart phone. In the proposed method, we are using the Auto-Encoder-based 1 class model in order to effectively distinguish skilled forgery signature. In addition to the basic dynamic signature characteristic information such as appearance and velocity of a signature, we use accelerometer value supported by most of the smartphone. Signed data is re-sampled to give the same length and is normalized to a constant size. We built a test set for evaluation and conducted experiment in three ways. As results of the experiment, the proposed acceleration sensor value and 1 class model shows 6.9% less EER than previous method.

  • This study was for the analysis of Kinematic variables, using 3 types of starting block position setting(25cm, 40cm, 35cm). The subjects of the study were 8 short-distance male runners. In the study, the most desirable block setting type for the runner who were average 180cm tall to get the good record was 45cm (distance between the starting line and the front block) and 40cm (distance between the blocks). In conclusion, the most favorable start in 100m race was to get the strongest propelling power at the start line. The most important technical point was quick responding ability to the start signal and reaching the maximum speed at the shortest time through the strong kick using the front leaning body angle and gravity. Type B start method has shown the most effective results for the improvement of the records in the 100m race.

  • A benthic microbial fuel cells(BMFC) is fuel cell using electricity produced by decomposing organic matter in a sea or a lake. In this study, we used a gas diffusion layer (GDL) of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEMFC) as a BMFC electrode to find out the operation conditions with high performance. The performance of BMFC was increased as resistance of external resistor increased. It was possible to maintain the performance by avoiding the increase of the contact resistance with the electrode due to corrosion of the lead wire in seawater. The bubble generator was able to increase the maximum power density by more than 2 times and the optimum operating temperature was $40^{\circ}C$.
