  • The transition probability can be used for the estimation of subpopulation total in panel data analysis. In this paper a real data analysis is performed and the sensitivity of the sample size allocated in the subpopulation is examined by small simulation studies.

A Study on Efficiency of the Cut-off Systematic Sampling (절사계통추출법의 효율성에 관한 연구)

  • Either systematic sampling or stratified sampling is usually applied to the business conditions survey when companies don't have much difference in their size. But the cutoff systematic sampling is an efficient method when only a few companies are so large that the total of them almost equals to the total of whole companies. Throughout this paper, three estimators of total and their variance estimations depending on three kinds of sampling schemes are discussed, and are compared with them via their variances. It is proved that the cut-off systematic sampling is most efficient by using a real data of the logging business conditions survey.

Design-Based Small Area Estimation for the Korean Economically Active Population Survey (시군구 실업자 총계 추정을 위한 설계기반 간접추정법)

  • In this study, we suggest the method of small area estimation based on the Economically Active Population Survey (EAPS) data in producing unemployment statistics for the local self-government areas (LSGAs) within large areas. The small area estimators considered are design-based indirect estimators such as the synthetic and composite estimators. The jackknife mean square error was used as a measure of accuracy of such small area estimators. The total unemployed and jackknife mean square errors of the 10 LSGAs within the large area of ChoongBuk region are derived from the estimation procedure suggested in this study, using EAPS data of December 2000. The reliability of small area estimators was assessed using the relative bias values and relative root mean square errors of these estimators. We find that under the current Korean EAPS system, the composite estimator turns out to be much more stable than other estimators.

SO2 Concentrations and Health Damages under Alternative US-EPA Policies (US-EPA 정책하에서의 SO2 농도와 건강피해)

  • This study uses a computable partial-equilibrium model of the U.S. energy industry to evaluate sulfur dioxide concentrations under two environmental policies. The policies, generator-level emission caps and tradable allowances, are selected to yield identical aggregate emissions. Regional concentrations are found to vary across the two policies significantly. These variations translate into different losses for individual states, and, nationwide, to differences of hundreds of millions of dollars in aggregate health damages. Emission caps outperform allowances by $452 million. Caps favor the southwestern, south-central and southeastern states, where they deliver $840 million lower damages than the other policies, while they deliver $390 million higher damages In northern and northeastern states.

A Study on the AE Characteristics of the Carbon Fiber Composite Material (탄소섬유 복합재료의 AE 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to measure the mechanical properties and the acoustic emission (AE) characteristics of the carbon fiber reinforced composites of several types of the stacking sequence. AE signals were detected during the tensile tests. The number of ringdown counts, total ringdown counts were plotted together with the load-displacement curves. The tensile load-displacement behavior of specimen is compared and discussed based on the measured AE properties in relation to the failure mechanism. With the increase of load, AE signals increased. This showed that failure had being propagated by matrix deformation and cracking, delamination, fiber debonding and breakage. Felicity ratio has been obtained by observation of ;the Kaiser effect according to the variation of load ratio. The reloading tests showed that the felicity ratio decreased obviously when the load ratio or damage increased. These AE characteristics are hopeful to be employed as the criteria to evaluate the failure processes of composites.

  • Lee and author (2000) rearanged the list of mushrooms recorded in Korea, containing 1,554 species 388 genera from 90 families for the systematic classification of Korean mushrooms at Korea Forest Research Institute. In September, 2002, Lee, Tai-Soo and Kab-Hee Yoon made public ‘The Index of Korea-Japan Mushroom names in Korea’ that listed 1,610 species from 396 genera, 90 families and 23 orders of mushrooms recorded in Korea. Among the listed taxa, 1,369 species, 297 genera, 65 families, 15 orders belong to Basidiomycotina and 241 species, 99 genera, 25 families and 8 orders belong to Ascomycotina. A total of 56 species were newly added to the list of recorded Korean mushrooms for a period of 2 years. On the other hand, a total of 75 species, 3 varieties and 2 formae were added to the list of recorded Korean mushrooms by the author, and they were published by many researchers from 2001 to 2004. Among the published taxa, one forma, 20 species, 16 genera, 12 families belong to Ascomycotina and one forma, 3 varieties, 55 species, 33 genera, 17 families belong to Basidiomycotina.

The Comparison of Quantitative Accuracy Between Energy Window-Based and CT-Based Scatter Correction Method in SPECT/CT Images (SPECT/CT 영상에서 에너지창 기반 산란보정과 CT 기반 산란보정 방법의 정량적 정확성 비교)

  • Purpose In SPECT image, scatter count is the cause of quantitative count error and image quality degradation. Thus, a wide range of scatter correction(SC) methods have been studied and this study is to evaluate the accuracy of CT based SC(CTSC) used in SPECT/CT as the comparison with existing energy window based SC(EWSC). Materials and Methods SPECT/CT images were obtained after filling air in order to acquire a reference image without the influence of scatter count inside the Triple line insert phantom setting hot rod(74.0 MBq) in the middle and each SPECT/CT image was obtained each separately after filling water instead of air in order to derive the influence of scatter count under the same conditions. In both conditions, Astonish(iterative : 4 subset : 16) reconstruction method and CT attenuation correction were commonly applied and three types of SC methods such as non-scatter correction(NSC), EWSC, CTSC were used in images filled with image. For EWSC, 9 sub-energy windows were set additionally in addition to main(=peak) energy window(140 keV, 20%) and then, images were acquired at the same time and five types of EWSC including DPW(dual photo-peak window)10%, DEW(dual energy window)20%, TEW(triple energy window)10%, TEW5.0%, TEW2.5% were used. Under the condition without fluctuations in primary count, total count was measured by drawing volume of interest (VOI) in the images of the two conditions and then, the ratio of scatter count of total counts was calculated as percent scatter fraction(%SF) and the count error with image filled with water was evaluated with percent normalized mean-square error(%NMSE) based on the image filled with air. Results Based on the image filled with air, %SF of images filled with water to which each SC method was applied is NSC 37.44, DPW 27.41, DEW 21.84, TEW10% 19.60, TEW5% 17.02, TEW2.5% 14.68, CTSC 5.57 and the most scattering counts were removed in CTSC and %NMSE is NSC 35.80, DPW 14.28, DEW 7.81, TEW10% 5.94, TEW5% 4.21, TEW2.5% 2.96, CTSC 0.35 and the error in CTSC was found to be the lowest. Conclusion In SPECT/CT images, the application of each scatter correction method used in the experiment could improve the quantitative count error caused by the influence of scatter count. In particular, CTSC showed the lowest %NMSE(=0.35) compared to existing EWSC methods, enabling relatively accurate scatter correction.

비계통어업생산통계조사 표본설계

  • 본 연구에서는 2000년 어업총조사 결과를 토대로 전국의 어업별, 어종별 수산물의 비계통생산량에 관한 통계를 정도높게 산출할 수 있는 표본설계를 하고, 그에 따른 추정식을 마련함으로써 보다 편리하면서도 신뢰성이 높은 어종별 총생산량 통계를 산출하도록하였다. 본 설계에서는 가능한 한 기존의 설계에 비해 업무량이 크게 늘어나지 않는 범위내에서 효율적인 통계를 생산하는 것을 기본방향으로 하고 있으며 구체적인 방향들은 첫째, 조사 설계의 목적이 '비계통어업생산량'의 효율적인 추정인 만큼 각 어종들의 생산량 추정치의 정도를 높이는 것을 주목적으로 정하였다. 둘째, 조사대상 어종이 114종에 이르고 어종별 비계통생산량이 상이함으로 어종별 정도를 고려하면 거의 전수조사를 해야하는 실정이므로 해양수산부에서 요청한 주요 어종과 어류생산 어가가 많은 어류 등 41개 어로어업 어종과 11개 양식어업 어종의 생산총계가 정도높게 작성될 수 있도록 표본설계를 하였다. 셋째, 표본의 할당 및 추출은 조사원의 업무량의 범위를 크게 벗어나지 않도록 하였다.

  • 본 연구는 한국 여성사서들의 전반적인 직업실태 및 직업관을 조사 분석함으로 여성사서들이 향후 한국 사서직의 전문성 제고에 기여할 수 있는 방안을 모색해 봄에 그 목적을 두었다. 조사 대상은 전국의 공공, 대학, 전문도서관의 정사서자격증을 소지한 여성사서들이며 자기보고식 질문지를 통하여 자료를 수집, SPSS통계 팩케지에 의해 처리하였다. 여성사서들의 인구학적 특성 (연령별 분포; 결혼여부; 교육수준), 직업적 특성(관종별 분포; 직위; 재직연한; 업무지속성;전문직적 활동), 직업에 대한 태도(결혼후의 계속근무의사; 직업계속동기; 성차별요인; 직업만족도) 등이 분석되었으며 결론을 통하여 한국사서직의 전문성제고와 발전을 위한 구체적인 방안이 제안되었다. (본 연구는 연구자의 박사학위논문(1991) 내용의 일부를 발췌한 것으로 통계수치는 기존의 연구결과에 ‘한국도서관총계’(한국도서관협회, 1993)상의 수치를 반영한 것임.)

Design-based Variance Estimation under stratified Multi-stage Sampling (층화 다단계 샘플링에서 설계 기반 분산추정)

  • We investigate design-based variance estimation methods of homogeneous linear estimator for population total under stratified multi-stage sampling. One method is unbiasedly estimating the first stage variance and the second stage variance separately in each stratum. And another is sub-sampling method that estimating the first stage variance only by using sub-sample selected from the second stage sample so that resulting estimator is unbiased for the total variance. The first is useful when the second stage unbiased estimator is available and the second is when the second stage variance is not estimable. For each case, we proposed a form of non-negative unbiased variance estimator. We expect the proposed variance estimation methods can be effectively used for many practical surveys.
