Exploratory Study on the Educational Planning Process Model for School Space Innovation - Focusing on User Participatory Design Practices - (학교교육공간 혁신을 위한 교육기획 절차 모형 탐색 - 교육분야 사용자 참여 설계 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study presents a model for educational planning based on user participatory design for the purposes of curriculum development and educational space innovation. It reviewed previous research and practices related to educational space innovation, educational planning processes, and user participation design and suggested a draft model. This model was applied in the renovation project of an elementary school, and the problems encountered during the application were reflected upon and used to improve the model. The final model comprises four phases. Phase 1 is an initial exploratory phase foruser participation, where educational planners and users form a shared perspective regarding the future of education. Phase 2 is a needs-analysis phase for the transition to future education, which focuses on setting the overall direction of the school-level curriculum. Phase 3 specifies the direction of future school curricula and identifies needs for educational spaces. Finally, Phase 4 focuses on the interaction between educational and space planners. Based on the above discussion, the study discussed the benefits and limitations of this educational planning model for school space innovation.

An Empirical Analysis of the Effectiveness of Financial Support Policy for Venture Firms in Daejeon Region (대전지역 벤처기업 자금지원 효과 실증 분석)

  • This study empirically analyzed the effectiveness of government financial support policies for venture enterprises in the Daejeon region, using raw data obtained from the Small and Medium Venture Business Administration's survey results from 2016 to 2021. Daejeon, considering its economic significance, has a significant proportion of venture enterprises in its economy compared to the national average, with a focus on technological development. Conducting regression analysis yielded several key findings. Firstly, loan and guarantee support is effective for improving sales and market share, while R&D support is effective for technological development. Second, R&D and loan support have the most significant impact on sales in the fourth stage (maturity), while guarantee support is most influential in the third stage. Third, in industry analysis, the coefficients representing the effects of financial support were larger across all performance indicators compared to firm level data analysis. Based on these empirical analysis results, the study proposes several policy implications as follows. First, the government should actively provide funding support to venture companies rather than leaving investments to the capital market. Second, the methods and targets of funding support should vary according to the purpose of the support. Third, it is necessary to establish a platform that connects venture companies with private investors to commercialize developed technologies. Fourth, the funding support of venture capital for technology-intensive venture companies should be expanded.

Overview of the Korean Marine Industry and VPP Analysis of a 28ft Sailing Yacht (대한민국의 해양 레저 시장 및 28ft급 세일요트의 VPP 성능해석 연구)

  • The South Korean marine industry is emerging as a significant market, driven by the growing popularity of various water leisure activities, including sailing. This trend suggests a rising demand for sailing yachts. Consequently, since 2022, the design and development of a 28ft sailing yacht have been ongoing, supported by the government and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, to promote yachting culture in South Korea. The Velocity Prediction Program (VPP) analysis was conducted using WinDesign during the preliminary design stage to evaluate performance and determine design parameters. The hydrodynamic model used for this vessel is based on regression methods developed from years of experience in naval architecture and yacht research at the Wolfson Unit, providing reliable estimates for most modern yachts. However, owing to the lack of specific hydrodynamic data from towing tank tests or CFD numerical analysis, verification of the hydrodynamic model has faced some challenges. Additionally, an incomplete weight estimate resulted in variable VCG values, potentially affecting stability and overall performance. The optimal boat speed for this vessel was determined at true wind speeds (TWS) of 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 knots, using both the jib (up to 120° TWA) and the spinnaker (from 80° TWA). The optimized speed of the yacht was found to be comparable to that of international similar-class yachts.

A Study on the Use of the SAFE and its Additional Risk Rate (조건부지분인수 방식 활용의 추가적 위험률 분석)

  • This study is conducted to review issues related to the use of the Simple Agreement for Future Equity(SAFE), which has been introduced as one of the venture investment methods in Korea since 2020, and to suggest policy implications for facilitating the utilization of this investment method. With the recent rapid decline in venture investment, private venture investment associations little use the SAFE in recent years. However, after adopting the SAFE, Korean's SAFE have been utilized mainly by policy financial institutions, and it is evaluated that the system has been revitalized to some extent, with some private venture investment associations also utilizing the SAFE. The results of comparing the SAFE with other equity investment contracts, the additional risk rate related to the failure of follow-up investment is estimated to be approximately 1.8%p. This shows that the additional risk is not greater than the advantages of the SAFE. In other words, it can be judged at a level where it is possible to offset advantages of the SAFE that investors must bear with the additional risks, which shows that there are less burden in terms of using the SAFE. In light of the fact that the venture investment ecosystem can become more active as various venture investment methods are developed and utilized, it is necessary to actively utilize the SAFE method to support start-up companies.

Systematic literature review on AI-based mathematics teaching and learning: Focusing on the role of AI and teachers (AI 기반 수학 교수·학습에 대한 체계적 문헌 고찰: AI의 역할과 교사의 역할을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore research trends on AI-based mathematics teaching and learning. For this purpose, a systematic literature review was conducted on 57 literatures in terms of research subject, research method, research purpose, learning content, type of AI, role of AI, and role of teachers. The results indicate that student accounted for the largest proportion at 51% among the research subjects, and quantitative research was the highest at 49% among the research methods. The purpose of study was distributed as follows: effect analysis 44%, theoretical discussion 35%, case study 21%. 'Numbers and Operations' and 'Variables and Expressions' covered learning contents most, and Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) was used the most among the types of AI. 'Student teaching' was the largest parts of role of AI at 40.4%, followed by 'teacher support' at 22.8%, 'student support' at 21%, and 'system support' at 15.8%. The role of teachers as 'AI recipients' was highlighted in earlier studies, and the role of teachers as 'constructive partner with AI' was highlighted in more recent studies. Also, role of teachers was explored in pedagogical, AI-technological, content aspects. Through this, follow-up research was suggested and the roles that teachers should have in AI-based mathematics teaching and learning were discussed.

The Impact of FinTech Diffusion on Firm Performance: the Case of China (핀테크 확산이 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향: 중국 사례를 중심으로)

  • FinTech has been credited with generating positive economic outcomes by improving access to financial services through technological innovations. This study examines how FinTech diffusion impacts firm performance using the case of China-one of the world's fastest-growing FinTech markets. Moreover, given China's unique economic landscape-characterized by disparities between the eastern regions and the rest of the country, largely due to early policy decisions that prioritized efficient growth during the Reform and Opening-up period-regional variables (eastern vs. central-western) are incorporated into the model. A random effects model analysis was conducted using panel data collected over six years from listed companies in China. The hypothesis that the level of FinTech diffusion would have a positive impact on firm performance was not supported at the 5% significance level. However, statistical evidence was found for the moderating effect of regional disparities. Specifically, in regions with lower levels of economic development and underdeveloped financial infrastructure-where access to traditional financial services is constrained-the positive impact of FinTech diffusion was more pronounced. These findings suggest that while the economic benefits of FinTech diffusion may not uniformly enhance corporate performance, they can vary depending on contextual factors such as regional disparities.

Confined and Delay Space-Na, Hye-seok's Writing and Placeness ('유폐(幽閉) 공간'과 '지연(遲延) 공간'-나혜석의 글쓰기와 장소성(場所性))

  • This study identified objective placeness throughout the writing of Na, Hye-seok, who was Korea's first female Western painter and early modern writer, and analyzed her spatiality around two keywords, "confined space" and "delay space." The investigator applied the concept of gender geography, which maintains that place experiences organize existence, and demonstrated the intrinsic aspects of placeness. First, confined spaces expressed the institutional contradictions of Joseon with the analogy of collapse and extinction. Inns and boarding houses were daily spaces and also temporary places of residence that she had to leave some day. Gyeongseong was a hybrid place of both success and failure. Secondly, Japan was a space of growth to study modernity and a delay space to escape from fear for Na. Her Western experiences underwent the procedure of discovering otherness inside a civilized state instead of self-colonization and asking questions about the places where she belonged. Na's place experiences and their connotations revealed in her writing show a gap between the ideal and reality of a subject facing her given destiny and between her inner conflicts. The present study demonstrated the daily conditions, social status, and characteristics of women through spaces beyond ideological placeness as a common idea, thus holding its significance. The specific daily and multiple nature produced in relations between a certain subject and the existential situation of a place will play significant roles in the theoretical extension of gender discourse in the future.

China's Wind Energy Development and the Socio-political Conditions for Energy Transition: Focusing on Norm Promotions by Transnational Actors (중국 풍력발전 사례를 통한 에너지전환의 정치사회적 조건 연구: 초국가 행위자의 규범확산 활동을 중심으로)

  • The rapid development of China's wind energy sector was facilitated by a number of transnational actors including organisations for international cooperation and international environmental organisations. This paper explores their evolving roles at different development stages in order to extend our understanding of the socio-political conditions for energy transition. Employing the framework of norm diffusion theories, this study focuses on the transnational advocacy group supporting wind energy for environmental purposes and analyses their norm promotion activities in interaction with domestic proponent as well as opponent groups. This analysis shows that the transnational actors successfully laid the foundation for the commercial wind energy development throughout the 1990s but experienced marginalisation during the sector expansion due to the dominance of the central government and its protectionist industrial policy. As the domestic opponent groups caused high-level wind curtailment in the 2010s, the international advocacy group has increasingly conducted offensive norm promotion activities. This case of the Chinese wind energy development suggests that the international transfer of technology and policy measures in combination with the mobilisation of economic resources support the growth of the wind energy sector, which nonetheless suffers lacking influence of environmental norms and faces conflicts with the traditional players of the electricity sector. Based on these findings, this study concludes that the key socio-political condition for energy transition is the formation of a power configuration which facilitates the effectiveness of environmental norms and thus confronts the powerful opponents of wind energy.

Digital Processability of Molds for Improvement of Work Efficiency in Special Makeup Sector - Focusing on FDM 3D printer - (특수분장 산업현장의 작업 능률 향상을 위한 몰드의 디지털 공정 가능성 -FDM 방식 3D printer를 중심으로-)

  • Special makeup companies are able to overcome the difficulties resulting from increase in labor costs by enhancing work efficiency through fabrication of prosthesis using 3D printing. With accurate fabrication being enabled, a given business area can be broadened to tailor-made prosthesis such as anaplastology. In this regard, the current study attempted to investigate the possibility of digital processing through special makeup molds and silicon patches designed using a FDM 3D printer, and the results are as follows: First, when a design modeled through the 3D graphics software 'ZBrush' was printed using a FDM 3D printer, the exact shape and surface texture which were observed on the computer monitor could be exactly obtained. Second, negative molds fabricated with flexible TPU filament were easier to use and displayed a more complete silicon mold than PLA filament-based negative molds. Third, the support, which is a disadvantage of the 3D printer, it was able to align objects or split the molds in such a way so that no support was formed in the slicing program. Fourth, the shrinkage rate of the outputs acquired through PLA or TPU filament did not change the shape of the silicon molds. Fifth, the texture of the fine contours which was found in silicon molds varied depending upon the object alignment angle in the slicing program. They can also be viewed differently depending upon the angle of lighting. To use a 3D printer in the fabrication of special makeup molds, therefore, it is necessary to examine how to fabricate them easily by concealing contours as much possible. It is also necessary to analyze the images acquired after attaching the colored silicon patches and check their availability.

The Women's Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Ewha Haktang College (미국 북감리교 여성해외선교부와 이화학당 대학과)

  • In 1860 the missionary work of the great powers was placed in East Asia, centered on China, after Christianity was recognized in China. As missionary groups conducted missionary work and education, it was the Women's Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church(WFMS) that focused on women's education in particular. WFMS was organized in 1869 and later dispatched female missionary teachers to China, Japan, and the capital Tokyo to conduct women's education. In the mid-1880s, a Ewha School was built in Seoul by sending missionaries to form a network of women education in the three East Asian countries. The need for higher education gradually emerged as each local educational institution began with a small school curriculum and secondary education courses were arranged. Thanks to the efforts of local missionaries, including President Lulu E. Frey of the Ewha School, and the support of WFMS, the university was established in 1910. Unlike the two countries' educational institutions, Ewha School, the last established women's educational institution, was the first female institution located in the capital city of Seoul, a major advantage to the school's development since the 1910s. Above all, he started college education in 1910 and produced his first graduates in 1914 to promote growth. A total of 29 students graduated from universities and courses 11 times until 1925, when the school was developed into a specialized school. According to the education system in the 1920s, complete with the three semesters of spring, liberal arts education (English, science, mathematics, history, pedagogy, philosophy, English literature, pedagogy, psychology, etc.) was conducted without any special majors, and all but Chinese and Japanese were conducted in English. The March 1 Movement for the Promotion of National consciousness in Joseon, which was reduced to a colony of early graduates, and its activities are drawing keen attention, especially since the March 1 Independence Movement.
