Structural Joint Integrity Monitoring of Steel Frame Structures Using Impulse Responses (충격응답을 이용한 철골 구조물 접합부의 구조건전성 모니터링)

  • This study proposes an improved AR-model based structural joint integrity monitoring method and a new damage sensitive feature using RMS values of impulse responses. The proposed methods were applied for joint integrity monitoring of a model scale 2-bay and 4-story steel frame structure and it was found that the AR coefficients could be more consistently estimated by adopting the band-pass filter and cross-correlation function to the raw acceleration signals and the joint damages could be successfully monitored by the proposed methods.

  • Recently a simple design method for rib-reinforced seismic steel moment connections has been proposed based on equivalent strut model. An experimental program was implemented to verify the proposed design method and to develop the schemes that will prevent the cracking at the rib tip, where stress concentration was evident. All the specimens designed by the proposed method were able to develop satisfactory connection plastic rotation of 0.04 radian. Slight beam flange trimming, in addition to rib reinforcement, pushed the plastic hinging and local buckling of the beam away from the rip tip and effectively reduced the cracking potential at the rib tip. The strut action of the rib and resulting reverse shear in the beam web were also experimentally identified through the strain gage readings.

  • Recent trends in the construction of building frame feature the increase use of composite steel concrete members functioning together in what terms of mixed structural systems. One of such systems, RCS(reinforced concrete column and steel beam) system, is known to make use of type of member in the most efficient manner to maximize the structural and economic benifits. Based on the results, joint behavior and design were described in terms of two primary modes of failure ; joint panel shear and vertical bearing. In test specimen, joint deformation is observed at internal region greater than at external region.

  • An experimental study was carried out for hybrid steel beams with reinforced concrete ends. The purpose is to examine the shear strength and to develop the design methodology of the RC-S connection region. Tested were four beams which included a reference beam and three beams with various parameters. The reference beam was used to make a comparison with remaining specimens. The test parameters were focused mostly on the concentrated shear reinforcements. The ratio of concentrated shear reinforcements and their types were investigated in this study.

  • The composite framed structures, consisting of RC columns and steel beams more popular in korea because of their efficiency and quality. However the force transfer mechanisms between the column and beam may by very complicated since the materials of columns and beams are different. This study develops "the column penetration joint" which the web of steel beam doesn't penetrate and which could improve the strength, deformation, and energy dissipation capacities compared to existing composite joints. It is the concrete-filled square tube joint with the exterior diaphragms and the cruciform stiffening plates. This study evaluated the strength of RC column penetration to steel beam connection by analyzing the results of partial experiments, and reviewed the applicability the strength formula through the comparison of tested results of joint experiment.

  • Recent trends in the construction of long span or tall building frames feature the increase use of composite members that steel and concrete is functioning together in what terms of mixed structural systems. One of such systems, RCS (reinforced concrete column and steel beam) system is introduced and closely examined focusing on bearing strength of the composite joint in this paper. The main objective of this study was to develope detail to increase bearing capacity while bearing failure is one of the two primary modes of failure in RCS system. The results show that specimens with the U-type bearing reinforcement detail developed in this study enhanced the bearing strength by 1.20-1.50. The U-type reinforcement is the effective details to increase joint bearing strength compared to others like vertical reinforcement welded to beam flanges.

  • There are two methods commonly used in design of splice plate connection of frame structure. The one is Design by Actual Stress which can sufficiently transfer actual force to an adjacent member using rows of bolts. The other is Design by Member Strength which is able to transfer total allowable stress of effective section area to a connected member. In real design, as a matter of convenience, Standard Connection Drawings have used according to Design by Member Strength. But this method underestimate connection force in shear connection where large connection moment occured. In this study, these Design methods are compared by connection moment in shear connections. and the adequate use of them are recommended. Also In order to evaluate more accurately the actual stress of splice plate of flange on moment. connection, a new calculation method of it is recommended.

  • As a process of development of composite beam-column connection system, structural tests have been conducted to verify moment resisting performance of the system. The tests have been proceeded by two steps, the first being welding performance test of the steel connection rod and stiffners, and the second overall moment resisting capacity of the fuly assembled system. Ten welding test specimens and four prototype specimens have been used in the test. Good structural performance of welding test specimens has been observed without any single welding failure, and sufficient moment resisting capacity has been proved from the overall performance test, with the moment magnitude in excess of the calculated plastic moment.

  • This study concerned with the steel beam of bonding method and bonded steel beams by this method and both ends of different height, steel beams and steel beams in the center makes the junction. Both ends and the central part of steel beams connecting the lower flange by additional combining steel plates to convey stress, the stress to focus on the beam connections are passed to both ends of steel beams, and strength of beam connections is improved and steel structural beams is proposed to minimize the loss by Incision. If you use the developed method, the construction period is shortened, and reducing the amount of material can decrease the cost and reduction in floor height can be maximized business feasibility.

  • 광명시 경륜 경기장은 국민 체육진흥공단에서 턴키(Turn key)공사로 발주하였고, CS구조+공간건축+대우건설, 삼성건설, 태영건설의 제출안이 당선되어 현재 시공중에 있다. 경기장의 저층부는 PC로 설계되었고, 지붕은 철골 트러스를 사용한 Dome 형상으로 이루어져 있다. 돔 지붕의 개념은 지붕에 물을 부었을 때 가장 흘러가기 쉬운 방향으로 트러스를 배치하여 유연한 힘의 흐름을 유도하는 것이다. 143.6m(폭)${\times}$183.5m(길이)${\times}$21m(높이)의 지붕엔 지붕의 개념인 Flow Truss를 물이 흐르는 방향의 방사형으로 배치하고, 내부에 압축링(Compression Ring Truss)과 외부에 인장링(Tension Ring Truss)를 설치하여 힘의 흐름을 단순화시켰고, 실내에서 보기에 플로우 트러스의 간격을 넓게 유지함으로써 개방감을 극대화시켰다. 또한 Flow Truss는 동일한 곡률과 길이로 설계하여 표준화시킴으로써 시공성과 경제성을 동시에 만족토록 하였다. 현재 저층부 시공은 거의 완료된 상황이고, 곧 지붕을 설치할 예정이다. 본 고에서는 돔 지붕의 형성 개념과 설계 과정을 살펴보고, 접합상세 등의 해결에 대해 살펴보겠다.
