Implementation of Bi-directional Broadcasting System Using Interaction Channel (대화 채널을 이용한 양방향 방송 시스템의 구현)

  • In this paper. we design and implement a bi-directional broadcasting system, so called return channel server, to allow users to participate in a broadcasting program by using a hi-directional interaction channel. To provide user participation in a program and reflect the user's opinions or responses in real time, the return channel server can be viewed as consisting of four major functional modules: a control module, network interface module, DBMS module, and real-time content authoring module. To construct a return channel server that has a service independent architecture, we designed a return channel server to include the hierarchical structure. The presented return channel server consists of two parts: an RCSAE(return channel server application environment) and RCSA(return channel server application). An RCSA is composed of an execution code and a parameter for executing the execution code. RCSA defines the procedures for providing a specific broadcasting program using the return channel server. On the other hand, an RCSAE provides the environment for the execution of RCSAS. By adopting RCSAE and RCSA, we construct the return channel server that has a service-independent architecture which are shown by the test.

  • IEEE 802.11 DCF(Distributed Coordination Function)의 성능은 채널에 접근하기 위하여 경쟁하는 단말수에 큰 영향을 받는다. 이에 경쟁하는 단말 수를 예측하기 위하여 많은 방법들이 제안되고 있지만 기존의 방법들은 채널 오류를 고려하지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 제안된 방법들 중 ARMA(Auto Regressive Moving Average) 필터(Filter)가 적용된 경쟁 단말 수 예측 방법을 수정 및 개선하여 채널 오류를 반영한 단말 수 예측 방법을 제시하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 제안된 방법은 채널 오류가 존재하는 환경에서 효과적으로 경쟁하는 단말 수를 예측할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • The bandwidth of channel and the power of the mobile devices are limited on a wireless environment. In this case, data broadcast has become an excellent technique for efficient data dissemination. A significant amount of researches have been done on generating an efficient broadcast program of a set of data items with different access frequencies over multiple wireless broadcast channels as well as single wireless broadcast channel. In this paper, an efficient data allocation method over multiple wireless broadcasting channels is explored. In the traditional approaches, a set of data items are partitioned into a number of channel based on their access probabilities. However, these approaches ignore a variation of access probabilities of data items allocated in each channel. In practice, it is difficult to have many broadcast channels and thus each channel need to broadcast many data items. Therefore, if a set of data items broadcast in each channel have different repetition frequencies based on their access frequencies, it will give much better performance than the traditional approaches. In this paper, we propose an adaptive data allocation technique based on data access probabilities over multiple broadcast channels. Our proposed technique allows the adaptation of repetition frequency of each data item within each channel by taking its access probabilities into at count.

  • New algorithms for frequency channel assignment in small cellular mobile radio system are proposed. The algorithms are for a channel assignment method which control the transmitter power level based on the distance between the cell site and the mobile unit. These algorithms are such that any channel can be used by any cell site and mobile unit, as long as a required threshold level of carrier to interference ratio is maintained. As the cochannel reuse distance decreases, the proposed algorithms have given an increase in capacity in comparison to a fixed channel assignment.

  • In this paper, the effect of unobtainable channel frequency response (CFR) inside virtual subcarreiers on DFT-based channel estimation is derived and introduced numerically because the CFRs cause the leakage to the estimated channel and degrade the estimation performance. In addition, the performance of DFT-based channel estimation is analyzed with respect to the number of virtual subcarriers, pilot spacing and the number of unobtainable CFRs at equi-distance subcarriers inside virtual subcarriers.

  • This paper proposes an SS-PRMA protocol for the integrated voice and data services in the packet radio networks. In this protocol, the uplink logical channels are provided by combining the time slots and the spreding codes. SS-PRMA protocol contains some features of existing protocols such as PRMA, slotted ALOHA, and CDMA. In the proposed protocol, the voice terminals use a reservation mechanism, and the dta terminals use a slotted ALOHA scheme. The analysis and the simulation results show that most of the performances for the voice traffic can be achieved by employing a few distinct spreading codes and the data traffic throughput is closely related to the number of spreading code channels. Also it shows that the data traffic performance can be significantly improved by applying an FEC scheme to the data link layer.

  • 가까운 장래에 싼 가격의 블루투스가 여러 가지 이동, 휴대 장치에 내장되어 다양한 응용서비스를 제공할 것이다. 본 논문에서는 공항이나 쇼핑몰 등 사람들이 많이 몰리는 공공장소와 같은 핫스팟(hot spot) 지역에서 블루투스 기지국을 통한 음성서비스 제공을 위하여 다수의 기지국을 유서 LAN으로 협동시켜 각각 기지국별로 따로 제공되던 음성 채널들을 집합화(aggregation) 함으로써 보다 많은 음성 서비스 채널들을 동시에 수용할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고 성능을 분석하였다. 단독으로 동작하는 기지국은 ACL채널을 사용하는 경우 7개까지의 채널 수용이 가능하므로 이상적인 경우에서도 오버랩 영역의 기지국의 개수가 n이면 7n 만큼 채널의 증가가 가능한 반면 협동으로 동작하면 블록킹 율도 개선되면서 집합화된 채널들을 보간(interpolation) 기법을 통한 통계적 사용으로 음성 패킷의 허용 손실 범위 내에서 음성채널의 수를 약 14n 정도까지 확장할 수 있다. 또한 음성전송과 데이터 전송이 혼합 서비스 될 때 수용하는 음성 채널의 수에 따른 데이터 전송지연시간 특성을 분석하였다.

A Minimum Interference Channel Assignment Algorithm for Performance Improvement of Large-Scale Wireless Mesh Networks (대규모 무선 메쉬 네트워크의 성능 향상을 위한 최소 간섭 채널 할당 알고리즘)

  • Wireless mesh network (WMN) is emerging a future core technology to resolve many problems derived from exist wireless networks by employing multi-interface and multi-channel. Ability to utilize multiple channels in WMNs substantially increases the effective bandwidth available to wireless network nodes. However, minimum interference channel assignment algorithms are required to use the effective bandwidth in multi-channel environments. This paper proposes a cluster-based minimum interference channel assignment (MI-CA) algorithm to improve the performance of WMN. The MI-CA algorithm is consists of Inter-Cluster and Intra-Cluster Intrchannel assignment between clusters and in the internal clusters, respectively. The Inter-Cluster channel assignment assigns a barebone channel to cluster heads and border nodes based on minimum spanning tree (MST) and the Intra-Cluster channel assignment minimizes channel interference by reassigning ortasgonal channels between cluster mespann. Our simheation results show that MI-CA can improve the performance of WMNs by minimizing channel interference.

Channel Estimation for OFDM-based Cellular Systems Using a DEM Algorithm (OFDM 기반 셀룰라 시스템에서 DEM 알고리듬을 이용한 채널추정 기법)

  • In this paper, a decision-directed expectation maximization (DEM) algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of channel estimation in OFDM-based cellular systems. The DEM algorithm enables a mobile station (MS) with multiple antennas, located at the cell boundary, to increase the performance of channel estimation using transmit data, without decreasing spectral efficiency. Also, DEM algorithm can apply fast fading without loss of channel estimation performance because that includes channel variation factor in a group. It is verified by computer simulation that the DEM algorithm can reduce computational complexity significantly while improving the performance of channel estimation in fast fading channels, compared with the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm.

Performance Analysis of Access Channel in CDMA Cellular Network (CDMA Cellular Network에서 액세스 채널의 성능분석)

  • The contact procedure of access channel necessary to set up the originating call has a close relation with the performance and capacity of the base station system in CDMA cellular network. This paper investigates the structure and the operation of the backward channel of IS-95 CDMA standard and explains the related system parameters. We can derive the throughput of the CDMA access channel depending on the arrivals of the access probes per access channel slot, given the system parameters such as cell radius, the maximum number of retransmission, and the error rates of the access and paging channel. It shows that the performance in throughput is much better in the CDMA IS-95 access channel than in the slotted aloha channel. It also gives the reasonable number of the trafic channels in a cell with the given blocking probability.
