Linearity Enhancement of RF Power Amplifier Using Digital Predistortion with Tanh as a Nonlinear Indexing Function (비선형 인덱싱 함수 Tanh로 구현한 디지털 전치 왜곡을 이용한 RF 전력증폭기의 선형성 향상)

  • In this paper, we design a digital predistortion(DPD) for linearity enhancement of RF power amplifier operating in 900 MHz band. We verify improvement of linearity by comparing the proposed DPD using tanh as a nonlinear indexing function and the DPD using linear indexing function based on signal amplitude. The digital predistortion is realized by look-up table(LUT) method, and the Saleh model is employed for power amplifier modeling, then a commercial power amplifier module is used for measurement. The LUT has 256 tables, and the NLMS(Normalized Least Mean Square) algorithm was utilized for an adaptive algorithm for estimation. As a result, we improve the ACLR(Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio) by around 15 dB.

  • Super-REsolution Near-field Structure (Super-RENS) 재생 현상을 모델링하고 재생 신호를 계산하여 실험 결과와 비교하였다. 약 2mW 내외의 높은 광 파워로 집광된 Spot 은 디스크 내의 상변화 물질인 GST 를 용융시키므로 집광 Spot 내에는 용융 영역과 비 용융 영역이 공존하게 되고 연속적 또는 불연속적인 경계를 이루게 된다. 이러한 열 효과로부터 기인하는 집광 Spot 내에서의 물질의 광학적 특성 변화와 변화 정도의 차이를 가정하였고 변화된 광학적 특성은 집광된 Spot 의 유효 크기를 줄어들게 함으로써 회절한계 이하의 정보를 재생 가능하게 한다. 계산은 FDTD 방법과 Scalar 방법을 병행하였다. FDTD 방법으로는 위와 같은 집광 Spot 내의 물질 굴절률 (n,k) 변화로부터 회절한계 이하의 정보가 재생 가능함과 CNR 문턱 현상을 확인하였고, Scalar 방법으로는 물질 굴절률을 직접 다루지 않고 굴절률 변화로부터 기인하는 광의 Amplitude 와 Phase 변화로부터 회절한계 이하의 정보가 재생 가능함을 확인하였다. 이 때 광의 Amplitude 와 Phase 변화를 모델링하기 위하여 지름, 위치, 반사율 변화량, 위상 변화량의 네가지 변수로 정의되는 광 마스크를 도입하였다. Scalar 방법을 이용하여 재생 RF 신호 등 다양한 Super-RENS 디스크의 신호를 계산 활용 할 수 있고 다음의 두가지 광학계에 대하여 계산과 실험으로 얻은 채널 특성 및 RF 신호를 비교하여 각각 오차평균 4.2%, 4.7%로 일치함을 확인하였다. 파장 659nm, NA=0.6, Min Pit Length=173nm ROM 디스크 System, 파장 405nm, NA=0.85 Min Mark Length=75nm WORM 디스크 System.

Studies on Extrinsic Resistance Extraction Method of PHEMT Using Bias-Dependence of Impedance (바이어스에 따른 임피던스 특성을 이용한 PHEMT의 기생 저항 추출방법에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a Cold PHEMT equivalent circuit was proposed, and it is applied to extract extrinsic resistances. By using the proposed Cold PHEMT equivalent circuit, the variation of impedance with frequency and bias were mainly emphasized. Especially, the convergence of impedance with frequency and the change in impedance with bias were carefully analyzed, which may be used for fast extraction of extrinsic resistances. The proposed extraction method demonstrated improving of small signal model accuracy than conventional extraction method.

  • We present a user recognition method using human body impulse response signals. The body compositions vary from person to person depending on the portion of water, muscle, and fat. In the body communication study, the body has been interpreted circuit models using capacitance and resistances, and its characteristics are determined by the body compositions. Therefore, the individual body channel is unique and can be used for user recognition. In this paper, we applied pseudo impulse signals to the left hand and recorded received signals from the right hand. The empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method removed noise from the received signals and 10 peak values are extracted. We set the differences between peak amplitudes as a key feature to identify individuals. We collected data from 6 subjects and achieved accuracy of 97.71% for the user recognition application.

A Measurement Allocation for Reliable Data Gathering in Spatially Corrected Sensor Networks (공간상관 센서네트워크에서 신뢰성 있는 데이터 수집을 위한 측정의 분배)

  • In this paper, we consider a measurement allocation problem for gathering reliable data from a spatially correlated sensor field. We allocate the probability of each sensor's being measured considering its marginal contribution in entire data gathering; higher measurement probability is given to a sensor that gives higher reilable data. First we establish a correlation model considering limit in each sensor's transmission power, noise in the process of measurement and transmission, and attenutations in wireless channel. Then we evaluate the reliability of gathered data by estimating distortion error in sink node. We model the measurement allocation problem in spatially correlated sensor field into a cooperative game, and quantifiy each sensor's marginal contribution using Shapley Value. Then, the probability of each sensor's being measured is given in proportion to the Shapley Value.

  • A bit-rate controller that can achieve a constant bit rate when coding object-based video sequences is an important part to achieve an adaptation to bit-rate constraints, desired video quality, distribution of bits among objects, relationship between texture and shape coding, and determination of frame skip or not. Therefore we design content-based bit rate controller which will be used for relevant bit-rate control. The implementation is an extension of MPEG-4 rate control algorithm which employs a quadratic rate-quantizer model. The importance of different objects in a video is analyzed and segmented into a number of VOPs which are adaptively bit-allocated using the object-based modelling. Some test sequences are observed by a number of non-experts and interests in each object are analysed. The initial total target bit-rate for all objects is obtained by using the proposed technique. Then the total target bits are jointly analyzed for preventing from overflow or underflow of the buffer fullness. The target bits are distributed to each object in view of its importance, not only of statistical analysis such as motion vector magnitude, size of object shape, and coding distortion of previous frame. The scheme is compared with the rate controller adopted by the MPEG-4 VM8 video coder by representing their statistics and performance.

  • UWB radio systems have drawn attention during the last few years. These systems are the core technique for ubiquitous home and enable to co-exist with other narrow band systems over the same frequency without interfering them. But UWB signals have a very low power per pulse, so they are affected by strong narrow band interferences. Specially, IEEE 802.11a systems which operate around 5GHz overlap the band of UWB signals and they will interfere with UWB systems significantly. In this paper, we propose a novel narrow band interference suppression method based on singular value decomposition(SVD) algorithm for DS-UWB in IEEE 802.15.4a channel model. The proposed method is very effective and robust for both a single user DS-UWB system and a multiuser DS-UWB system to reduce the narrow band interference.

  • In this paper, we implemented 2-wire (data gnd) RS232C serial communication interface by applying the Collision Sensing Multiple Access(CSMA) Protocol. The transmitting and receiving wires of RS232C pert are connected together by the interface circuit forming data wire without hardware modification On two-wired common channel connection simultaneous transmission Don mere than two hosts causes data collision. The collision is detected by loop-back test of transmission data comparing with the fed back data to detect the data distortion. Various models are adopted to reduce the probability of retransmitted data collision and experiments show the performance of each cases. Due to allowing multiple hosts to be accessed through the common communication channel with minimum circuit addition the result of this paper can be easily applied for conventional RS232C instruments and machines to connect to the single data communication line.

  • In this paper, a radio resource allocation scheme for a multi-hop relay transmission in cognitive radio (CR) system is proposed to support the employment of relay nodes in IEEE 802.22 standard for wireless regional area network (WRAN). An optimization problem is formulated to maximize the number of serving secondary users (SUs) under system constraints such as time-divided frame structure for multiplexing and a single resource-unit to every relay-hop. However, due to mathematical complexity, the optimization problem is solved with a sub-optimal manner instead, which takes three steps in the order of user selection, relay/path selection, and frequency selection. In the numerical analysis, this proposed solution is evaluated in terms of service rate denoting as the ratio of the number of serving SUs to the number of service-requesting SUs. Simulation results show the condition of adopting multi-hop relay and the optimum number of relaying hops by comparing with the performance of 1-hop system.

Averaging Methods for Enhancing the Performance of DOA Estimation Under the Rotor Effect (로터 영향 하에서의 DOA 추정 성능 개선을 위한 평균화 방법)

  • There are various anti-jamming algorithms for the GNSS system which is vulnerable to jamming, and the methods using array antenna show the best performance. Among them, the DOA estimation algorithms to identify the location of the jammer is very important. However, in case of the rotorcraft, the wireless channel which amplitude and phase changes with time is generated by the rotation of the rotor and it affects the performance of existing anti-jamming algorithms. In this paper, we modeled the effect of the rotor in four scenarios according to the correlation of antennas and assured that the performance of DOA estimation algorithms are degraded and saturated regardless of JNR due to the rotor effect. When we use the averaging method to solve this problem, the performance is improved as increasing samples for estimating. And in case of using moving average method with averaging, it shows similar performance. In addition, it reduces the required memory and moderates the variation of DOA estimation.
