A Study on the Development of an Assessment Index for Selecting Start-ups on Balanced Scorecard (균형성과표(BSC) 기반 창업기업 선정평가지표 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an assessment index for the selection of promising start-ups, which will enhance the efficiency of program that support start-ups. In order to develop assessment models for selecting start-ups, three major research steps were conducted. First, this study attempted to theoretically redefine the assessment index from the perspective of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) through a literature review. Second, major assessment index were derived using Delphi technique for experts in start-up areas. Third, weights were derived by applying AHP technique to calculate the importance of each index. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, this study attempted to apply the assessment model for selecting start-ups from the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) view through the previous study review. Second, the final major questions were derived with sufficient opinions collected and structured survey of leading start-up experts in areas related to research subjects and elicited the most representative questions. Third, the results of applying the weights of the main selected assessment index, commercialization viewpoint is the most priority, followed by market view, technology development viewpoint, and organizational capability viewpoint. In the middle section, th ability to make products in the commercialization viewpoint, market competitiveness in the market, product discrimination capacity in the technology development perspective, and the ability of the entrepreneur in the organizational capacity perspective were important. Overall important items were found to be in the order of the capabilities of entrepreneurs, market competitiveness, product fire capability, and product discrimination. The importance of small items was highest priority for comparative excellence of competing products, and the degree of marketability, capacity of entrepreneurship, ability to raise capital, desire for entrepreneurship, and passion were shown. The results of this study presented a conceptual alternative to the preceding study on the development of existing selection assessment indexes. And it provides meaningful and important implications as an attempt to develop more sophisticated indicators by overcoming the limitations of empirical research on only some of the evaluation metrics.

출연연 연구원 창업 활성화를 위한 발전 방향 연구: 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)의 창업지원 프로그램 사례를 중심으로

  • 딥테크, 딥사이언스 창업의 중요성이 강조되고 있는 현재, 연구자원이 풍부하고 대형기술·기초연구에 특화된 정부출연연구기관의 연구원 창업에 주목할 필요가 있다. 그간 연구원 창업은 정출연의 연구생산성 제고를 위한 기술사업화 방식 중 하나로 여겨져왔으나, 발생 시점에서 기술료 등의 대가를 수신하는 실시권 허여(라이센싱)와는 달리 아직 연구원을 포함한 지원기관에 대한 대가 수신이 제도화 되어 있지 않고 기업의 시장진입과 정착이 창업가의 역량에 크게 의존하는 특성으로 인해 아직 많은 정출연이 창업기업의 보육에 소극적이며, 단순 창업 승인 및 초기 보육 수준에 머무르고 있다. 대다수(92%)의 정출연이 창업 관리 규정을 보유한 것에 비해 아직도 절반에 가까운(44%) 정출연이 누적 연구원 창업기업 수가 10개 미만일 정도로 아직 양적, 질적 성장을 이루지 못한 현실에서, 적극적인 연구원 창업 활성화 방안을 모색하기 위해서는 우선 현황 파악과 더불어 벤치마킹이 가능한 사례 탐색이 필요할 것으로 여겨진다. 본 연구에서는 창업 및 출자관리규정이 신설된 1990년 이래 다수의 창업기업을 탄생시켰으며, 현재 연구원 창업기업 중 33.2%의 비중을 차지하고 있는 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)의 사례를 통해 단순 창업승인에서 예비창업가 역량 강화 및 인큐베이팅으로 이어지는 연구원 창업지원 프로그램의 역사를 살펴보고, 파급력이 높은 고성장 스타기업을 탄생시키기 위해 시도되고 있는 ETRI 창업지원 플랫폼과 앞으로 정출연 창업지원 프로그램이 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 살펴보았다.

Study on Founder's Conditions and Capacity/Support Factors of Franchisor against Intent for Contract - Centered on Pusan Area - (창업자 조건이 Franchisor의 역량.지원 요소와 계약 의사에 관한 연구 - 부산 지역을 중심으로 -)

  • As per the results verified in this study for the effect, which is given to the intent for contract according to the franchisor's capacity and support factors per the founder's characteristics. Firstly, as for analysis of the effect given by the conditions of the founder to the capacity of the franchisor, the experience and the founder's self-confidence are attentively affected in the history of the franchisor among the capacity of the franchisor, and the experience and the specialized knowledge done in the number of the franchises, and the experienced, specialized knowledge and self-confidence of the founder done in the brand and the self-confidence of the founder done in the capacity of the franchisor. Secondly, as for the hypothesis, which the founder's conditions is the support of the franchisor, the experience, specialized knowledge and the founder's self-confidence attentively affected in the support for advertisement, and the capital and experience done in the educational support, and the capital and specialized knowledge and the founder's self-confidence done in the business manual and the founder's self-confidence done in the package. Thirdly, as for the effect given by the capacity of the franchisor to the intent for contract, the number of the franchises possessed the franchisor and brand are affected to the capacity of the franchisor, and fourthly, as for the hypothesis, which the support of the franchisor affects the intent for contract, the educational support, business manual and package purchase are attentively affected. Therefore, through this study, it can be known that the characteristics of the founder and the capacity and support of the franchisor are mutually related to the intent for contract.

  • 기후변화, 고령화 사회로의 진입, 4차 산업혁명에 의한 첨단기술의 확산 등은 기업 현장에 큰 영향을 주고 있다. 또한, 최근 2년 넘게 지속되고 있는 코로나 팬더믹, 미중 갈등과 우크라이나 사태로 촉발된 원자재 가격 급등과 수급 불안은 세계 경제를 불황으로 몰고 있다. 중소기업을 창업하여 경영하고 있는 최고경영자(이하, CEO)들은 이러한 사업환경의 변화 속에서 지속가능 경영을 고민하고 있다. 흥미로운 것은 가혹한 사업환경을 마주하여 사업을 중단하고 정리하려는 CEO가 있는 반면, 의지를 갖고 사업을 계속하려는 경영자들도 있다는 것이다. 본 연구의 목적은 중소기업 CEO의 사업계속의도에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 조사하고 분석하는 데 있다. 본 연구에서는 중소기업의 사업 전망, 기업 역량, 경영자 역량, 가계 경제에 대한 부담감, 사업승계 인식이 CEO의 사업계속의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중소기업의 사업 전망, 기업 역량, 경영자 역량, 가계 경제에 대한 부담감, 사업승계 인식이 CEO의 사업계속의도에 어떠한 정도로 영향을 미칠 것인지 양적 연구를 통해 실증적으로 검증하고자 한다. 변화무쌍한 경영 환경하에서 창업하여 일군 중소기업을 경쟁력 있게 성장시키기 위해 우선시 요구되는 CEO의 사업계속의도(Intention to Continue Business)를 종속변수로 설정하여 본 연구를 진행하였다.

The Effects of Global and Artistic Competence on the Intention of Start-up (글로벌 역량과 예술적 역량이 창업 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • As the global economy becomes globalized, there is a growing demand for nurturing talent to enhance the competitiveness of individuals and countries. Studying abroad is one of the ways of education to gain high qulaity education and skills, and get closer to the local market, the international market. This study sought to define the factors of global competence and artistic competence for foreign students in Korea, and to clarify the impact of global competence and artistic capacity on the intention of start-up, networking behavior, mediating and regulating effects of social support. The results of the empirical analysis of Chinese students studying in Korea in this study are as follows. First, three sub-factors (knowledge, skill, attitude) of global competency have been shown to have a positive influence on networking behavior. Second, three sub-factors (expression, creativity, media) of artistic competence were having a positive impact on networking behavior. Third, networking behavior has been confirmed to have a positive effect on the intention of start-up. Fourth, the results showed that social support regulates the relationship between networking behavior and start-up intent. Fifth, it was confirmed that networking behavior has the effect of mediating global capabilities and intention to start a business. This study is meaningful in verifying that the networking behavior of students studying abroad plays a positive role in the intention of starting a business by studying the intention of students to adapt to the new social culture, educational environment in foreign countries.

  • Managers in Business Incubator(BI) perform an important role to success of BI, but researches about what area of capability need to improve are limited. This study investigates the perceived gap between current capability and required capability of BI managers from BI managers' and CEOs' perspectives with a survey method. From the BI managers' perspective, improvement of most capabilities, such as financing support, R&D support and understanding of patents, and understanding of business of firms in BI, is needed. From CEOs' perspective, improvement of capability in financing and marketing support is needed.

The Effect of Relational Support on Entrepreneurial Capacity and Entrepreneurial Attitude of University Students - Comparison Study between Korea and China (관계적 지원이 대학생들의 기업가적 역량과 창업태도에 미치는 영향 - 한·중 비교연구)

  • The objective of this cross-cultural study is to assess the effects of relational support on the entrepreneurial capacity and entrepreneurial attitude of university students in Korea and China. Another focal point is to identify any meaningful difference in the role of relational support between these two countries. Three universities participated in this study from both countries. 224 Korean sample and 216 sample from China were used in hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The findings report that relational support has significant positive relationships with entrepreneurial attitude and entrepreneurial capacity in both Korea and China. In addition, entrepreneurial capacity had a positive effect on entrepreneurial attitude. There were no significant differences in the effect of relational support on entrepreneurial activity between Korean and Chinese university students. Finally, theoretical and practical implication were discussed.

Effects of Start-up Mentoring Educational Factors on Satisfaction with Start-up Education and Start-up Intention (창업 멘토링 교육 요인이 창업교육 만족도와 창업의지에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to verify those start-up mentoring educational factors in this society where any systematic and practical start-up educational contents as well as experts in the start-up education are being asked for in order to meet the demand for the start-up. Not only to build up a theoretical foundation for how to make the best use of the start-up mentoring education as in the start-up educational programs but also to understand any possibilities of that education, the study divided the start-up mentoring educational factors into features of the start-up mentoring educational contents, a start-up mentoring educational system and an ability of a mentor in charge of start-up mentoring education as independent variables, and regarding the satisfaction with the start-up education and the start-up intention, the study determined them as dependent variables. The study, then, designed a research model and formulated hypotheses. In order to verify those hypotheses, the study conducted an empirical analysis on those who have finished the start-up educational course in JST, Incheon, which has been actively engaging in the start-up mentoring education. According to the results from the empirical analysis, first, of all the start-up mentoring educational factors, the features of the contents and the mentor's ability were observed to improve the satisfaction with the education as the features of the start-up mentoring educational contents and the system appeared to have a positive influence on the start-up intention.

The Effect of Technology Startups' Value Chain Internal and External Network Activities on Competitive Advantage Through Dynamic Capabilities (기술창업기업의 가치사슬내부 및 외부 네트워크 활동이 동적역량을 매개로 경쟁우위에 미치는 영향)

  • It has been verified in several studies that dynamic capabilities has a very important effect on the competitive advantage of technology startups. And the network has an important influence on this dynamic capability. This is even more important for start-ups that lack the resources and knowledge. Networks that directly and significantly affect dynamic capabilities have been studied mainly the value chain internal. However, network activities of start-ups are conducted not only with the value chain internal networks but also with the value chain external networks. Therefore, it is necessary to study the effect of the value chain internal and external network activity of start-ups on the dynamic capabilities, but prior studies are lacked. In this study, We make a model that encompass the value chain internal and external network for technology startups, and a study was conducted to demonstrate the effect on dynamic capabilities and competitive advantage. As a result of the study, value chain internal network activity directly and significantly affected dynamic capabilities, and value chain external network activity did not directly significantly affect dynamic capacity. And dynamic capabilities had a significant effect on competitive advantage. As confirmed through additional research, value chain external network activity affects value chain internal network activity, and through this, dynamic capabilities are strengthened, and positively affect competitive advantage.. The intensity of value chain external network activity was not significant to dynamic capabilities and the diversity of value chain external network activity had a significant effect on the competitive advantage by double mediating the value chain internal network activity and dynamic capability. Through this study, it is confirmed that the value chain internal networks is important in order for startups to strengthen their dynamic capabilities and increase their competitive advantage, and that both strong and diversified the value chain internal networks positively affects competitive advantage by enhancing dynamic capabilities.
