The integration of the landing gear system is a complex relationship between the many conflicting parameters of shock absorption, minimum stow area, complexity, weight and cost. Especially ground impact load and dynamic behaviors greatly influence design load of landing gear components as well as load carrying structural attachment. This study investigates ground impact load and dynamic behaviors of the T-50 landing gear system using ADAMS. Taking into account for various operational/environmental conditions, an analysis of shock absorbing characteristics at ground impact is performed with experience derived from a wide range of proprietary designs. Analytical results are presented for discussing the effects of aircraft horizontal and vertical speed, landing attitudes, shock absorbing efficiency. This analysis leads us to the conclusion that the proposed program is shown to be a better quantitative one that apply to a new development and troubleshooting of the landing gear system.

In this paper, a guidance law applicable to aircraft automatic landing is proposed and its performance is compared with the conventional ILS-type landing approach. The concept of miss distance, which is commonly used in the missile guidance laws, and Lyapunov stability are effectively combined to obtain the landing guidance law. The new landing guidance law is integrated into the existing controller and is applied to the landing approach and flare phases of landing procedure. Numerical simulation results show that the new landing guidance law is a viable alternative to the conventional strategies that directly control the longitudinal deviation or altitude.

In this paper, landing stability evaluation of lunar lander considering various landing conditions was performed. The status of landing stability of the lunar lander is classified into stable landing, conditionally stable landing due to sliding and unstable landing due to tip-over. In particular, the quasi-static tip-over equation was rearranged considering the phenomena of lowering the center of gravity and extension of foot-pad interval of the landing gear. These results were compared by finite element model analysis results using a commercial software ABAQUS and its validity and accuracy were verified. The verified finite element model was used for examining the tendency of various environmental variables such as landing conditions, friction coefficient, lateral speed and slope of ground.

Two types of thrusters(Descent Control Thruster (DCT) for reducing landing speed and Attitude Control Thruster (ACT) for attitude control) are mounted on the propulsion system of Ground test model lunar lander. In this paper, plume impingement effect and ground effect between DCT Modules are analyzed using numerical method when the impact occurred close to the ground.

The moon landing is composed of the de-orbit descent phase, powered descent phase, and the powered descent phase is divide into 3-sub phase of the braking, approach, final landing phase. In this paper, the lunar lander perform landing control using 3-sub phase of optimal trajectory. First, generate the reference trajectory using gauss pseudo-spectral method. Thereafter generate PID controller using altitude and velocity error in each direction. Finally the lunar lander landing system constitute using the Simulink of Matlab, and perform simulation.
Vision-based autonomous precision landing technology for UAVs requires precise position estimation and landing guidance technology. Also, for safe landing, it must be designed to determine the safety of the landing point against ground obstacles and to guide the landing only when the safety is ensured. In this paper, we proposes vision-based navigation, and algorithms for determining the safety of landing point to perform autonomous precision landings. To perform vision-based navigation, CNN technology is used to detect landing pad and the detection information is used to derive an integrated navigation solution. In addition, design and apply Kalman filters to improve position estimation performance. In order to determine the safety of the landing point, we perform the obstacle detection and position estimation in the same manner, and estimate the speed of the obstacle using LSM. The collision or not with the obstacle is determined based on the CPA calculated by using the estimated state of the obstacle. Finally, we perform flight test to verify the proposed algorithm.

The navigation system of lunar lander are composed of various navigation sensors which have a complementary characteristics such as inertial measurement unit, star tracker, altimeter, velocimeter, and camera for terrain relative navigation to achieve the precision and autonomous navigation capability. The required performance of sensors has to be determined according to the landing scenario and mission requirement. In this paper, the specifications of navigation sensors are investigated through covariance analysis. The reference error model with 77 state vector and measurement model are derived for covariance analysis. The mission requirement is categorized as precision exploration with 90m($3{\sigma}$ ) landing accuracy and area exploration with 6km($3{\sigma}$ ), and the landing scenario is divided into PDI(Powered descent initiation) and DOI(Deorbit initiation) scenario according to the beginning of autonomous navigation. The required specifications of the navigation sensors are derived by analyzing the performance according to the sensor combination and landing scenario.
Among the phases of flight operations pilots feel much pressure in landing segment. There is a number of factors affecting landing safety while pilots reduce aircraft speeds and make a touchdown and stop completely. If runway length is sufficient for landing, there maybe is no problem. But it is not the case all the time. So it is necessary to confirm whether landing performance is within limits or not. Required landing distance is actual landing distance demonstrated by flight test pilot plus allowances for average airline pilots. FAR(Federal Aviation Regulations) AFM certification is based upon manual landing for dry and wet runway. Other runway conditions are not the certification basis. JAR dictates even contaminated/slippery runway is included by prescribed allowances. Automatic landing is not certification basis, so actual landing distances are provided. In this paper I would like to analyze distance allowances included in each type of runway condition. In addition there is no regulation about allowances for specific runway condition, I would suggest adequate allowances for that case.

Chang'e-3 consisting of a lunar lander and exploration rover was launched on December 1, 2013 aboard a Long March 3B rocket flying from Xichang space launch center. Chang'e-3 was inserted into the lunar orbit after about a 5-day transit to the Moon and landed on the targeted landing site after orbiting around the Moon for 8 days. The successful landing of the Chang'e-3 gives a lot of help to analyze the future needs of the subsystem technologies and to figure out the trajectory from launch to lunar landing as well as operation sequences in the development of Korean lunar exploration is scheduled. Therefore, the configuration and analysis of overall mission of Chang'e-3 is performed based on the public information from the press and website. As a result, overall mission trajectory is reconstructed by solving boundary condition and then estimating control variable. Visibility status and eclipse status also analyzes so communication and power charge condition is as good as to operate lunar lander. Mass budget of the lander is derived using ${\Delta}V$ according to specific impulse.

In this paper, we suggest how to determine the parachute deploy position for accurate landing of a UAV at a desired position. The 9-DOF dynamic modeling of UAV-parachute system is required to construct the proposed algorithm based on neural network nonlinear function approximation technique. The input and output data sets to train the neural network are obtained from simulation results using UAV-parachute 9-DOF model. The input data consist of the deploy position, UAV's velocity, and wind velocity. The output data consist of the cross range and down range of landing positions. So we predict the relative landing position from the current UAV position. The deploy position is then determined through distance compensations for the relative landing positions from the desired landing position. The deploy position is consistently calculated and updated.
