Seawater intake systems have significant problems due to seawater pollution, suspended solids, unstable intake and maintenance etc. An underground type seawater intake system was newly developed to overcome the existing weaknesses and was facilitated in Gyukpo port. In this study, to check the performance of the new system, the samples for water quality and the 3-D numerical modeling test were conducted. The five times test included the COD, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, pH, and suspended solid for the intake system. The analyses show that the COD, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, PH showedminor changes before and after. On the other hand, the change in suspended solids was significant and water was purified below 5 mg/l, first level fisheries water, after. The numerical model adopted the RNG $k-{\epsilon}$ algorithm and the CFX model based on the finite volume method. The porosity algorithm was used to reproduce filtered-sand, outer diameter, and thickness. The numerical results showed that the double pipe is advantageous in that it provides a uniform pressure between the inner and outer pipe for the flow to be stable. In addition, the use of multiple intake pipes did not interfere with the discharge reduction of 0.98 at the both intake pipes compared with the central intake pipe.
Private detectives and investigators offer many services, including executive, corporate, and celebrity protection; pre-employment verification; and individual background profiles. They also investigate computer crimes, personal injury cases, insurance claims and fraud, child custody and protection cases, missing persons cases, and premarital screening. This paper focuses on a private detective or investigator system in most developed U.S.A, but it is not easy to describe that system. Licensing requirements vary in U.S.A. Some States have few requirements, and many other States have stringent regulations. A growing number of States are enacting mandatory training programs for private detectives and investigators. Employment and need of private detectives and investigators is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations. Thus, it is reasonable that korean government should permit private investigation service find the way to minimize the side effects of private investigation service instead of banning the service totally.
A recommender system for E-commerce site receives information from customers about which products they are interested in, and recommends products that are likely to fit their needs. In this paper, we investigate several methods for large-scale product purchase data for the purpose of producing useful recommendations to customers. We apply the traditional data mining techniques of cluster analysis and collaborative filtering(CF), and CF with reduction of product-dimensionality by use of latent semantic indexing(LSI). If reduced product-dimensionality obtained from LSI shows a similar latent trend of customers for buying products to that based on original customer-product purchase data, we expect less computational effort for obtaining the nearest-neighbor for target customer may improve the efficiency of recommendation performance. From simulation experiments on synthetic customer-product purchase data, CF-based method with reduction of product-dimensionality presents a better performance than the traditional CF methods with respect to the recall, precision and F1 measure. In general, the recommendation quality increases as the size of the neighborhood increases. However, our simulation results shows that, after a certain point, the improvement gain diminish. Also we find, as a number of products of recommendation increases, the precision becomes worse, but the improvement gain of recall is relatively small after a certain point. We consider these informations may be useful in applying recommender system.

Through silicon via (TSV) technology is to form a via hole in a silicon chip, and to stack the chips vertically for three-dimensional (3D) electronics packaging technology. This can reduce current path, power consumption and response time. In this study, Cu-filling substrate size was changed from Si-chip to a 4" wafer to investigate the behavior of Cu filling in wafer level. The electrolyte for Cu filling consisted of $CuSO_4$$5H_2O$, $H_2SO_4$ and small amount of additives. The anode was Pt, and cathode was changed from $0.5{\times}0.5cm^2$ to 4" wafer. As experimental results, in the case of $5{\times}5cm^2$ Si chip, suitable distance of electrodes was 4cm having 100% filling ratio. The distance of 0~0.5 cm from current supplying location showed 100% filling ratio, and distance of 4.5~5 cm showed 95%. It was confirmed good TSV filling was achieved by plating for 2.5 hrs.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the optimal beam arrangements for hepatic tumors, according to the location of the hepatic tumor and its relationship to organs at risk (OARs). The virtual gross tumor volumes were divided into four groups according to the Couinaud's classification. Several plans were made for each virtual target, and these plans were compared for the normal tissue complication probabilities (NTCP). For group I, NTCP improved as the number of the beam ports increased. However, plans with more than 5 ports had little advantage. For group II, plans with the beam directions from the anterior side showed better results. Group III contained many OARs near the target, which placed restrictions on the beam-directions. Multi-directional plans yielded a higher dose to the OARs than a simple two-port plan using right anterior oblique and posterior beam (RAO/PA). For group IV, a simple RAO/PA port plan was adequate for protection of remaining liver. NTCP can significantly vary between radiotherapy plans when the location of the tumor and its neighboring OARs are taken into consideration. The results in this study of optimal beam arrangements could be a useful set of guidelines for radiotherapy of hepatic tumors.
In general, orthodontists make problem lists and treatment plans based on norms of several cephalometric standards. But consideration of dentoalveolar compensation, which tends to maintain normal dental arch relationship in various skeletal jaw relationships, helps orthodontists make more individualized treatment objectives and plans. The purpose of this study was to classify skeletal patterns of normal occlusion samples by cluster analysis and to investigate the dentoalveolar compensation according to skeletal patterns. The subjects were consisted of 125 subjects who were normal occlusion samples at Seoul National University Dental Hospital, Department of Orthodontics. Lateral cephalograms in centric occlusion were traced and digitized. The skeletal patterns of normal occlusion samples were classified into three horizontal groups and three vertical groups by cluster analysis and ANOVA on the skeletal and dentoalveolar measurements among the groups were carried out. The results were as follows ; 1. Anteroposterior and vertical skeletal relationships of normal occlusion samples were very variable. 2. As the mandibular position was anterior to the maxilla, the maxillary incisors inclined more labially, the mandibular incisors more lingually, and the occlusal plane was flattened due to the anteroposterior dentoalveolar compensation. dentoalveolar height was decreased and upper posterior teeth was uprighted to the palatal plane and lower incisors and lower posterior teeth to the mandibular plane. 4. Lower incisors were more strongly associated with the dentoalveolar compensation than upper incisors according to the anteroposterior and vertical skeletal relationship.

With the recent development of smart grid industry, the necessity for efficient EMS(Energy Management System) has been increased. In particular, in order to reduce electric load and energy cost, sophisticated electric load forecasting and efficient smart grid operation strategy are required. In this paper, for more accurate electric load forecasting, we extend the data collected at demand time into high time resolution and construct an artificial neural network-based forecasting model appropriate for the high time resolution data. Furthermore, to improve the accuracy of electric load forecasting, time series data of sequence form are transformed into continuous data of two-dimensional space to solve that problem that machine learning methods cannot reflect the periodicity of time series data. In addition, to consider external factors such as temperature and humidity in accordance with the time resolution, we estimate their value at the time resolution using linear interpolation method. Finally, we apply the PCA(Principal Component Analysis) algorithm to the feature vector composed of external factors to remove data which have little correlation with the power data. Finally, we perform the evaluation of our model through 5-fold cross-validation. The results show that forecasting based on higher time resolution improve the accuracy and the best error rate of 3.71% was achieved at the 3-min resolution.
This study explores the trajectories of institutionalization for technology transfer both in the U.S. and Korea, particularly focusing on two universities: Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and the University of California (UC). By comparing the diverging paths of the two universities in setting up institutions, this paper examines the limits of and lessons for technology transfer policies both to Korean government and universities in Korea. The University of California was involved in designing rules and codes, on one hand, to stimulate its members' engagements with technology transfer activity and, on the other hand, to keep its academic integrity since, no later than, the 1960s. The efforts and consequences range from its rules of patenting system to its codes of conducts. Through making rules formal and resolving conflicts on technology transfer activity, the U.S., and the University of California have decreased uncertainties for its members' engagements with industries. By contrast, KAIST has not built up such range of rules or codes due to its shorter experience and its constraining legal contexts. Korea introduced the legal format of the US Bayh-Dole Act in 2002, and its central government has led the initiatives for technology transfer, not allowing much latitude for its universities. This study implies a set of policy recommendations to the Korean government and KAIST: to build entrepreneurial universities, the government should give greater latitude to universities, so universities should be more rigorously engaged in developing their own rules and routines; the government, rather, should focus on providing bridging R&D funds like the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), so researchers could draw on resources to move their basic research into next phases; KAIST would be better to promote its members to engage with industries, and introduce conduct codes that allow its academics to engage in industrial activity, rather than building up its commercialization facilities.

This paper presents how to improve the efficiency and accuracy in the pricing and sensitivity evaluation for derivatives, since the need for the evaluation of complicated derivatives is increased. The Monte Carlo(MC) simulation using the quasi random number instead of pseudo random number can improve the elapsed time and accuracy for the valuation of European-type derivatives. However, the quasi MC simulation method has its limit for applying it in the multi-dimensional case such as American-type and path-dependent options due to the increased correlation between dimensions as the dimension of random numbers is increased. In order to complement this problem, we develop a modified method in which correlation values are controlled to be below a pre-specified value. Thus, this method is applicable for the pricing of either derivatives ill which underlying assets or risk factors are several or derivatives having path-dependent or early redemption property. Furthermore, we illustrate that it is important to take an appropriate grid interval for the use of finite difference method(FDM) by applying the FDM to one example of non-symmetrical butterfly spreads.
Three-dimensional microscopic approaches in histopathology display multiplex properties that present puzzling questions for specimens as related to their comprehensive volumetric information. This information includes spatial distribution of molecules, three-dimensional co-localization, structural formation and whole data set that cannot be determined by two-dimensional section slides due to the inevitable loss of spatial information. Advancement of optical instruments such as two-photon microscopy and high performance objectives with motorized correction collars have narrowed the gap between optical theories and the actual reality of deep tissue imaging. However, the benefits gained by a prolonged working distance, two-photon laser and optimized beam alignment are inevitably diminished because of the light scattering phenomenon that is deeply related to the refractive index mismatch between each cellular component and the surrounding medium. From the first approaches with simple crude refractive index matching techniques to the recent cutting-edge integrated tissue clearing methods, an achievement of transparency without morphological denaturation and eradication of natural and fixation-induced nonspecific autofluorescence out of real signal are key factors to determine the perfection of tissue clearing and the immunofluorescent staining for high contrast images. When performing integrated laboratory workflow of tissue for processing frozen and formalin-fixed tissues, clear lipid-exchanged acrylamide-hybridized rigid imaging/immunostaining/in situ hybridization-compatible tissue hydrogel (CLARITY), an equipment-based tissue clearing method, is compatible with routine procedures in a histopathology laboratory.
