Damage Detection in Cable-Stayed Bridges Using Vibration Modes (진동모드를 이용한 사장교의 손상 검색)

  • As Cable-stayed bridges were constructed to the long span, they have become bigger and had weaknesses to vibration induced by earthquake, wind and vehicle loads. Structural damages induced by these loads affect the characteristic of vibration modes of structure. Damage detection of cable-stayed bridges by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. Also it requires very much time and cost. So in this study, the investigation of characteristic change of structural action and the detection of structural damages is analyzed by using characteristic properties of vibration mode before and after structural damage.

  • 운영 중인 가스배관에는 매우 낮은 빈도이긴 하지만 부식, 기계적 손상, 내압, 토양하중, 차량하중, 지반침하, 열하중, 균열 등이 생길 수 있다. 안정적인 가스공급과 안전한 배관 운영을 위해서는 손상배관에 대한 건전성 평가가 필요하다. 평가 방법은 국내외 규격을 적용하거나 배관 운영회사에서 독자적인 건전성 평가방안을 적용하면 된다. 결함평가 방안은 고압 가스배관뿐만 아니라, 중저압 가스배관, 압력용기, 원자력 배관, 화학플랜트 배관 등에 필요한 사항이다.

Studies on the Prevention of Damages on the Carbody of Aluminum Rolling Stock (알루미늄 철도차량 차체의 손상 방지를 위한 연구)

  • Aluminum rolling stocks have been developed for six years in Korea and commercial trainsets are being constructed by the carbuilder. Aluminum alloys are sensitive to various imperfections. In this paper, damages and failures of the aluminum carbody taking place during the process of development are investigated and accumulated data are released. Also, remedies for the failures are suggested and design changes are introduced. It is expected that all informations can contribute to construction of reliable and safe aluminum rolling stocks.

Analysis of Ambulance Traffic Accident During Driving (국내 구급차량의 운행 중 사고 분석에 관한 조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the circumstances surrounding collisions involving ambulances with an aim to improving the safe operation of emergency services. Collisions are relatively common within paramedic emergency services. We analyzed the time, injury site, and any other specific factors of 908 collisions occurring within four cities. Within our study 29.6% of paramedics have been involved in accidents while responding to an emergency call, with the main cause of the accident being signal violation (35.7%), and is the other party's negligence (22.2%). 92.1% of these accidents occurred while the emergency lights were being operated. XX% of accidents took place in the afternoon, while xx% took place within the hours of xx:xx and xx:xx, during which time there is generally lower levels of traffic, which can cause severe brain and neck damage of 14.4% but the other part is 62.1%. (Ed note; this is not clear at all. 14.4% of collisions resulted in severe head and neck injuries, while 23.5% of collisions resulted in no injury. According to the respondents, defensive driving (xx%), observance of traffic laws (xx%), safe driving habits (xx%)to paramedics were the most critical factors in evading collision. Signal passes were identified as the most common cause of collision (70.1%). Although the majority of collisions occurred while the emergency lights were operational, the damage can cause severe damage at the time of accident occurred.

  • 모바일 기술이 발달함에 따라 모바일 기술을 이용한 다양한 컨텐츠 개발이 중요한 문제로 떠오르고 있다. 기존의 텔레매틱스 서비스는 차량 밖에 사용자가 있을 경우 안내원을 통하여 원격진단 차량 문 열림, 도난차량 추적, 내차위치확인이 있다. 본 논문에서는 WIPI를 이용하여 자동차 원격제어 시스템을 구현하였다. 자동차 원격제어 시스템은 자동차 키를 대신해야 하는 상황이나 차량의 상태 등을 자신의 모바일을 사용하여 차량을 원격제어 하는 시스템이다. 또한 차량의 손상 및 파손 여부를 SMS를 이용하여 차주에게 바로 알려주는 서비스가 가능하다. 8인의 피 실험자가 각각 12번씩 모두 96번을 실험한 결과 응답시간이 2초 이내로 나타났고 100%의 동작 성공률을 보였다. 각 이동통신사들이 모바일 플랫폼으로 많은 로얄티를 지급하던 방식에서 벗어나서 대한민국이 주도한 WIPI 플랫폼이 모바일 시장을 개척해 나간다는 점에서 WIPI 플랫폼을 기본으로 이용한 서비스는 더욱 더 발전할 것이다. 앞으로 WIPI는 모바일 산업에 주축이 될 것이며 많은 수익 창출이 예상된다.

  • The piezoelectric paint sensor is a paint type sensor comprising of an epoxy and piezoelectric powder, which is the main component of a piezoelectric material. This sensor can be easily attached to any type of structure as compared to other sensors because it is viable to directly apply it on structures, as in the case with a typical paint. In this study, the capability of piezoelectric paint sensor for impact detection was evaluated. In Particular, the applications of the piezoelectric paint sensor for railroad vehicles were considered. There have been various cases reported about the damages caused by flying gravel to the under-cover of the railroad vehicle during operation. In order to prevent this, real-time monitoring of the large under-cover surface of the railroad vehicle is unavoidable. Under the assumption of vehicle application, sensor sensitivities were measured after multiple and prolonged exposure to thermal cycle environment $-20{\sim}60^{\circ}C$). Sensitivity evaluation of paint sensor under environmental conditions was conducted in an aluminum specimen. In results, despite the small variations in sensitivity, we could confirm the applicability of this paint sensor for impact detection even after a severe environmental exposure test.

  • Recently, it is frequently reported that fatigue damages of deck slabs and floor systems of highway bridges occur under the conditions of increasing weight and traffic of heavy vehicles. These troubles are affected by dynamic wheel load of heavy vehicles running on roadway surface roughness with bump at expansion joint. It is required that this kind of traffic-induced vibration of highway bridges must be analyzed by using three-dimensional models of bridge and vehicle. In this study, the three-dimensional dynamic analysis is carried out, and dynamic responses of deck slab and wheel loads of moving vehicle are estimated according to different vehicle speeds and bump heights. Analytical responses of bridge deck slab are compared with experimental ones which were measured at Umeda entrance bridge of Hanshin Expressway in Osaka.

A Study on Quality Improvement through Analysis of Hub-reduction Failure Occurrence Mechanism for Military Vehicles (군용차량 허브리덕션 고장 메커니즘 분석을 통한 품질개선 연구)

  • For the tactical vehicles operated by the Korean army, the hub-reduction portal axle was applied considering Korea's topographical characteristics. Hub-reduction was applied to a Korean military vehicle to increase the vehicle body to secure ground clearance and improve the driving capability on rough roads, such as unpaved and field land by increasing the torque. The Korean military is operating tactical vehicles after various performance tests, including durability driving, but wheel damage occurred in one of the vehicles operating in the front units. Failure analysis revealed many damaged parts, including the hub, making it difficult to determine the cause. Therefore, an analysis of the failure occurrence mechanism for each damaged part was conducted, which confirmed that the cause of wheel breakage was a hub. Furthermore, the root cause of the hub breakage was a crack due to internal pores and foreign matters. In addition, a realistic improvement plan that can be applied throughout the design, manufacture, and shipping stages was presented using the fishbone diagram analysis. The derived improvement plan was verified through unit performance tests, including CAE and actual vehicle tests, and by reflecting this, the driving safety of Korean tactical vehicles was improved. Finally, it is expected that the proposed method for analyzing the failure occurrence mechanism will be used as reference material when analyzing the quality problems of similar military vehicles in the future.

In the paper, to overcome the limitations of the existing black box, use various sensors and vehicle information blackbox store current state of the vehicle with OBD-II protocol using vehicle state information and store exact current location and direction information of the vehicle with Gyro sensor and GPS and use global time of GPS for synchronization of information. In addition, blackbox back the information up with wifi. because, when blackbox damaged, dirvers were able to verify the information.

  • Recently, the probability of collision accident between vehicles or vessels and infrastructures are increasing at alarming rate. Particularly, collision impact load can be detrimental to sub-structures such as piers and columns. The damaged pier from an impact load of a vehicle or a vessel can lead to member damages, which make the member more vulnerable to impact load due to other accidents which. In extreme case, may cause structural collapse. Therefore, in this study, the vehicle impact load on concrete compression member was considered to assess the quantitative design resistance capacity to improve, the existing design method and to setup the new damage assessment method. The case study was carried out using the LS-DYNA, an explicit finite element analysis program. The parameters for the case study were cross-section variation of pier, impact load angle, permanent axial load and axial load ratio, concrete strength, longitudinal and lateral rebar ratios, and slenderness ratio. Using the analysis results, the performance based resistance capacity evaluation method for impact load using satisfaction curve was developed using Bayesian probabilistic method, which can be applied to reinforced concrete column design for impact loads.
