Integrated and Isolated Form-focused Instruction from Korean EFL Learners' Perspective (한국 영어 학습자의 관점에서 본 통합과 분리 형태초점교수법)

  • The present study aims to investigate how Korean EFL learners' views of form-focused instruction, integrated and isolated FFI (form-focused instruction), are related to their beliefs about grammar and attention and how different these relationships are between high and low proficiency levels and between males and females in Korean college contexts. The findings indicated the participants' strong preference for integrated FFI, which was significantly correlated with two factors, attention in English class and English proficiency. On the other hand, the isolated FFI was strongly correlated with their beliefs about grammar learning, that is, independent learning of grammar and importance of learning grammar rules. In conclusion, the integrated FFI was associated with students' proficiency and attention, while the isolated FFI was related to their views of grammar learning. In conclusion, it is suggested that we need to use integrated FFI in Korean EFL contexts considering students' levels of proficiency and attention.

Theoretical Backgrounds of Basin Concentration Time and Storage Coefficient and Their Empirical Formula (유역 집중시간 및 저류상수의 이론적 배경과 경험식)

  • This study proposes proper forms of empirical formulas for the concentration time and storage coefficient based on their theoretical backgrounds and evaluates several existing empirical formulas by comparing them with the formula proposed in this study. Additionally, empirical formulas for the concentration time and storage coefficient of the Chungju Dam basin were derived using the forms proposed by considering their theoretical backgrounds, and compared with exiting empirical formulas. The results derived are summarized as follows. (1) The concentration time of a basin is proportional to the square of the main channel length, but inversely proportional to the channel slope, as the flood flow is generally turbulent. (2) The storage coefficient is proportional to the concentration time. (3) The comparison results with existing empirical formulas for the concentration time indicates that the empirical formulas like the Kirpich, Kraven (I), Kraven (II), California DoT, Kerby, SCS, and Morgali & Linsley are in line with the form proposed in this study. Among existing empirical formulas for the storage coefficient, the Clak, Russell, Sabol and Jung are found to be well matched to this study. (4) The application results to Chungju Dam basin indicates that among empirical formulas for the concentration time, the Jung, Yoon, Kraven (I), and Kraven (II) show relatively similar results to the observed in this study, but the Rziha shows abnormal results. Among the empirical formulas for the storage coefficient, the Yoon and Hong, Jung, Lee, and Yoon show somewhat reasonable results, but the Sabol shows abnormal results. In conclusion, the empirical formulas for the concentration time and storage coefficient developed in Korea are found to reflect the basin characteristics of Korea better.

Evaluation of Attention and Relaxation Levels of Archers in Shooting Process using Brain Wave Signal Analysis Algorithms (뇌파 신호 분석 알고리즘을 이용한 양궁 슈팅 과정에 대한 집중력 및 긴장이완 수준 평가)

  • Archer's capability of attention and relaxation control during shooting process was evaluated using EEG technology. Attention and meditation algorithms were used to represent the levels of mental concentration and relaxation levels. Elite, mid-level, and novice archers were tested for short and long distance shootings in the archery field. Single channel EEG was recorded on the forehead (Fp1) during the shooting process, and attention and meditation levels were computed by real time. Four types of variations were defined based on the increasing and decreasing patterns of attention and meditation levels during shooting process. Elite archers showed increases in both attention and relaxation while mid-level archers showed increased attention but decreased relaxation. Elite archers also showed higher levels of attention at the release than mid-level and novice archers. Levels of attention and relaxation and their variation patterns were useful to categorize archers and to provide feedback in training.

  • 실제 유역에서 지류유입량(tributary inflow)의 형태로든 사면류의 형태로든 측방유입은 반드시 존재한다. 측방유입이 하도의 지배적인 흐름이 되는 경우 이는 유출수문곡선의 종거값과 형태를 변화시키는데 중요한 역할을 하게 된다. 따라서 측방유입의 형태를 저류상수 및 집중시간과 같은 수문학적 특성으로 적절하게 표현할 수 있다면, 전체 유역 내에서 측방유입의 지체효과 및 저류효과를 파악하는데 크게 기여하게 된다. 측방유입과 관련된 선행연구들을 살펴보면, Saint-Venant 방정식을 근간으로 하는 연구가 주를 이루고, Muskingum 하도추적모형 또는 Muskingum-Cunge 하도추적 모형을 확장한 연구가 나머지 부분을 차지한다(Hayami, 1951; Dooge et al. 1982). 지금까지 수행된 대다수의 연구들은 수치해석적으로 측방유입의 유출량을 모의하거나 혹인 관측값이 존재하는 경우 역으로 측방유입의 특성을 유추한 것들로 다소 복잡하고, 관측값이 존재하지 않는 경우에는 적용이 어려운 문제점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 유역의 물리적인 특성과 주하도의 특성만을 이용하여 측방유입의 특성을 대략적으로 유추하는 것이 가능하다면, 전체유역과 각 소유역의 관계는 전체유역의 물리적인 특성과 주하도의 수문학적 특성만으로 충분히 파악할 수 있게 된다. 다시 말해 유역분할 시 각 소유역 사이의 관계를 고려하여 전체유역의 유출량을 파악하는 것이 가능해진다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Muskingum 하도추적모형을 재해석한 순간단위도를 이용하여 측방유입의 수문학적 해석을 시도하였다. 대상유역으로는 격자형태의 사각형과 삼각형 유역을 임의로 가정하였으며, 각각의 유역에서의 순간단위도를 선형하천모형과 선형저수지모형의 합으로 유도하였다. 이때 저류상수는 하도길이와 비례한다는 가정을 바탕으로 사각형과 삼각형 유역에서의 저류상수 및 집중시간을 유도하였다. 특히 유역 출구에서 최원점에 위치한 격자에서 유출이 발생시간을 집중시간으로 가정하였으며, 이 시점에서의 종거값과 기울기를 이용하여 저류상수를 유도하였다. 그 결과, 선형하천과 선형저수지모형 각각은 집중시간과 저류상수로 특징지어짐을 알 수 있었으며, 결정된 측방유입의 저류상수 및 집중시간이 적절한 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 향후 대유역에서 유역분할의 효과뿐만 아니라 홍수량 할당문제를 입증하는데 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Study of the Spatial Distribution of Major Non-timber Forest Products - Focusing on Chestnut, Astringent Persimmon, and Oak Mushroom - (주요 단기소득임산물의 공간적 분포 특성에 관한 연구 - 밤, 떫은감, 표고버섯을 대상으로 -)

  • Systematic and efficient forestry management is required because of the long-term low profitability of timber production and forest products. In this situation, non-timber forest products can be the solution to secure stable sources of income for workers in the forestry field. However, the existing studies for non-timber forest products focus on effective production and economic analysis and provide plans for increasing the income and improving the marketing system. Therefore, this research intends to analyze the spatial distribution as well as quantitative concentration of non-timber forest production. To achieve this goal, this study examined the regional concentration and dispersion of non-timber forest production in 2001, 2007, and 2014 using the coefficient of localization(CL) and location quotient(LQ) and investigated the change in spatial distribution using spatial statistics. The production of chestnuts generally showed a concentrated pattern in 2014 based on the outputs of the CL and LQ, but the result of spatial autocorrelation indicated a decrease in the spatial concentration. In addition, astringent persimmon showed more concentration from the output of CL than oak mushroom, but Moran's I suggests the opposite. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the spatial distribution to understand and improve the marketing system and intensify the production of forest products.

Classification of Riparian Riffles and Their Physical and Hydraulic Characteristics (하천 여울의 분류 및 물리, 수리학적 특성 분석)

  • This study performed the systematic classification of the various types of riffles and analyzed their physical and hydraulic characteristics at the Hongcheon River and Seomjin River. The riffles are classified into the long type and the wide type by their ratio of length and width, and also classified into the convergent type and the divergent type by their width change along flow direction. They are also classified into the falling type, the running type, the undular wave and the undular jump by their surface profiles. The falling type and the running type usually occur near the cobbles with multiple diameters, whereas the undular wave and the undular jump occur near the small pebbles. They showed the upward convex type at the middle part, and the slope gets bigger at the downstream part.

An Efficient Method for Representing of Binary Images by Region-centralized Shape Descriptor (영역집중 형태 기술자에 의한 이진 영상의 효과적인 표현 방법)

  • This paper gives a novel approach that can be represented an image efficiently with its region and shape information together. To do this, we introduced a region-centralized shape descriptor(RCSD) that the size of region only exists at a center point. RCSD consists of circles with three parameters, the distance and the angle between the tenter points, and the diameter, respectively We verified the RCSD parameters to have an information of shape. We can be proved this by reconstructing the shape from the given parameters and evaluated the difference between the its image and the original one. To get this image, we find the estimated points on the contour from the parameters, and connect them by using an interpolation. According to the evaluation, we obtained 88% performance for real images, and showed that it can be used efficiently for representing the binary images. Also we cu make RCSD parameters to be the normalized patterns to have an invariant of its scale or position, and expand them to improve the quality of the performance.

  • 최근 증가하고 있는 집중호우로 인해 피해 규모가 대형화 되어가고 있는 추세로 수공구조물 설계 시 보다 정확한 수문분석을 요구 하고 있다. 강우의 시간분포는 정확한 수공구조물의 설계시 첨두홍수량 산정에 가장 중요한 영향을 미친다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대전지역의 기상학적, 지형학적 특성에 맞는 적절한 강우분포형을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구는 대전지지방기상청의 강우자료 중 강우가 집중되는 기간인 5월부터 10월사이의 강우자료를 바탕으로 강우분석을 실시하였고 갑천 유역에 적용하여 설계홍수량을 산정 하였다. 1999년도 수자원관리기법개발연구조사 보고서(건설교통부, 2000)에 따르면 Huff 방법에 의한 강우분포의 형태는 초기에 호우가 집중되는 1분위로 나타났고, 본 연구에 의한 방법은 Huff방법의 3분위에 속하는 53%에서 호우가 집중되는 양상으로 나타났다. 이는 Huff 방법이 호우사상별로 분위를 결정 하는 반면 본 연구에서는 지속시간별 강우량을 누가하고 지속시간별 분포형태를 무차 원화하여 결정하였다. 또한 Huff방법과 본 연구 방법의 비교 시 무강우 상태와 누락된 타 분위 호우가 분포형에 미치는 영향을 고려하였다. 유효우량 산정 시 초기의 강우량이 크면 손실우량도 커지고, 강우의 시간분포 형태에 따라 첨두홍수량도 차이를 보이게 되므로 강우의 시간분포 결정시 신중을 기하여야 할 것이다.

An Effect of Heat Input on Thermal Storage for Horizontal Thermal Storage Tank with Heat pipe (열 파이프용 수평 축열조에서의 열 입력이 축열에 미치는 영향)

  • The horizontal thermal storage tank with heat pipe which is suitable for the sensible heat storage system is able to store a hot water from the heat source such as heating pad efficiently and to supply a hot water to load rapidly. And arrangement of heating pad play an important role in thermal flow and thermal storage efficiency. In this experiments, number of heating pad is ranged from three, five and nine, and when there is no change on number of heating pad, arrangements are two types of concentration-type and dispersion-type. Strong entrainment take place in the case of concentration-type of heating pad, and rapid temperature rise(${\Delta}{\doteqdot}1.6{\sim}3.2^{\circ}C$) in the tank is obtainable on the concentration-type than dispersion-type. In the constant number of heating pad, the concentration-type has the higher efficiency with about $5{\sim}6%$ than the dispersion-type Therefore, concentration-type of heating pad is an efficient design in constant number of heating pad.
