  • This study is a qualitative case study of 5 substance abusers recovered from drug addiction. It is useful socially and practically to understand about the rehabilitation and its process of recovering from drug addiction. Since this study deals with very private and sensitive issues, qualitative research approach is suitable. Data were collected through one to one in-depth interviews, and were analyzed by using analysis within/cross cases suggested by Creswell(2007). 5 individual cases were presented including substance addicts experiences and recovery process through within-cases analysis. Based on the within-cases analysis, common themes were presented through cross-cases analysis. Total 19 themes, related with recovery from substance addicts, were derived from the five individual cases, and 4 common themes were classified. These 4 common themes were first, recovery of sense of reality, second, taking self-existing pattern, third, self reconstruction in the context of social network, fourth, self-love. Based on the study results and discussions, practical implications were suggested to help persons claiming recovery from substance addicts for their recovery and rehabilitation.

  • As past paradigm discussion was restricted to the political issues and related antagonistic ideologies, there are desires to reignite discussion from the concrete theological practices and differences in methodological variations. Interactive Study does not require mere antithesis phase but requires interactive study creation as phase itself. The purpose of this study is to analyze quality methodology cases, and to provide basic data for the application of the methodology. For this purpose, current Journalism and Mass communication discussions will be examined and characteristics of quality study and traditional methodology types will be scrutinized. In further, researches in the scientific journals of Korean Association for Communication and Information Studies will be analyzed to point out trend of quality methodology. The scope of analysis includes theological background and methodology, sampling method, data collecting method, reliability analysis. Appliance of quality research method requires more rigid and detailed methodological discussions and applications.

Firstly, what do they experience through emigration to Vietnam? Secondly, what are the meanings of emigration to Vietnam for them? Thirdly, what are the contextual meanings of it? To explore these questions, the data were collected through diverse data collection methods including in-depth interviews with seven research participants for eleven months. Each case was carefully examined and summarized in the within-case analysis and major issues appeared in each case were described in the cross-case analysis before the reconstitution of story-telling considering a holistic context on the older males' experiences of emigration to Vietnam. The six integrated themes are 'Motivation and background of immigration', 'Acculturation', 'Social network', 'Meaning of work', 'Family' and 'Spirituality and attitude to the life', 'Perceptions on death'. • The purpose of this study is to understand the 'search' experiences of adoptive families. To understand their experiences in searching for birth families, the researchers made contacts with adoptive families who had tried the search before, got informed consents from them, and took in-depth interview with each family. The qualitative case study approach was taken to analyze the data collected. Data collected from five adoptive families were employed for within-case analysis and cross-case analysis. The themes emerged from cross-case analysis were 'the awareness of being adopted', 'curiosity explosion', 'the anxious waiting', 'the moment the truth was found', 'Indeed, I'm a real mom', and 'Then, there was a silence'. Based on the results of the study, the policy and practical guidelines to support the search of adoptive families were suggested. Also, the suggestions for the following studies were made to obtain more abundant information beyond the limitations of the study.

  • There are some limitations in the existing bibliometric methods to satisfy the various requests of the interest parties including researchers, managers, policy makers to identify 1) which research group or researcher is the key player, and the overall trends of the particular technological sub-fields, 2) which research groups, institutions or countries mainly use their research outputs, 3) what are the spin-offs from research outputs to some scientific and technological fields, 4) in which levels they are when comparing their quantitative and qualitative research outputs to those of other competitive institutions. It is essential to develop new informetric indicators and methodologies in order to satisfy stakeholder's various demands and to strengthen qualitative analysis in measuring research performance. This study suggested informetric indicators such as article quality index, citation impact index, international cooperation index, excellent article production index and methodologies including citation analysis, text mining.

For this purpose, the data were collected through diverse data collection methods including in-depth interviews with adoptive families who had experiences of open adoption and analyzed using a qualitative case study approach. Data collected from six adoptive families were employed for within-case analysis and cross-case analysis. Each case was carefully examined and summarized using story-telling style in the within-case analysis and major issues for open adoption appeared in each case were described and compared one by one. In the cross-case analysis, all the cases were re-examined keeping the issues appeared in the within-case analysis in mind and eight integrated themes were emerged from it. The eight integrated themes are 'the crucial meeting', 'a clear arrangement', 'an uneasy parallel', 'the other mom', 'who are the real parents?', 'the words never to say', 'the hidden characters', and 'the center of relations or the outsider'. Based on the results of the study, the policies and practical guidelines related to open adoption were suggested. Also, the suggestions for the further studies were made to obtain more abundant information beyond the limitations of the study.

  • This study presents the results of a case study that investigated a seventh grader's fractional reasoning related to multiplicative reasoning. In addition, by employing domain analysis and taxonomic analysis for analyzing qualitative data, I show how a qualitative methodology was used for the data collected by teaching experiment methodology. The study identifies three distinct issues that emerged as the student engaged in solving fraction problems: a view of fractions as operations vs. results, the issue of units, and mixed numbers vs. improper fractions. These three issues have instructional implications in that each of them is critical in developing multiplicative reasoning and investigating how they relate to each other suggests a way to improve multiplicative reasoning in fractional contexts.

  • This study is a clinical single case study of the application of Theraplay approach for the treatment of children with eating disorder based on Polyvagal Theory. The first research question is how children with eating disorder change through Theraplay. The second research question is to analyze what the therapeutic factors are for changes in children with eating disorder. To do this, I used a qualitative case study method that explores a small number of cases closely and reveals the case deeply. As a result, the client has a sense of security in Theraplay session, expands the window of tolerance and develops a social engagement system. Through these, client become increasingly adaptable and overcome eating disorder. The results of this study can contribute to neuroscience validation of the counseling effect.
