  • Purpose: In this study, the hospice nursing research trend in 1998~2017 was investigated by analyzing research articles on hospice nursing. Methods: Literature search was performed with keywords of 'nursing' and 'hospice on an academic research information service. Also reviewed were all articles published in the Korean Journal of Nursing Science and its 8 subcategory journals, the Korean Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care and the Korean Hospice Association from 1998 through 2017, except thesis papers. Results: In 2013~2017, 79 articles (31.0%) were relevant, up over 7% from 61 articles (23.9%) in 2008~2012. The most studied field was psychology (92 papers, 36.2%) in the Korean Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care. Enrolled in most papers were patients with end-stage cancer (75, 29.5%), which is overwhelmingly high. Most studies used quantitative methods (183, 72.0%). Recognition was the most studied theme (62, 24.4%), and 16 of them focused on recognition of death (6.3%). Intervention studies totaled 34 (13.4%), and most of them (7, 2.8%) were conducted for palliative education. Conclusion: Most hospice nursing studies were quantitative studies, conducted with patients, and hospice nursing intervention programs were similar to each other. Thus, more studies with hospice patients and their families are needed. And more experimental and qualitative studies are needed to build an evidence-based nursing study environment. Considering how most studies examined psychological factors, physiological factors such as pain, a major issue in hospice care, should be analyzed in experimental studies to construct a pain intervention program for hospice patients.

Results: Nursing students felt that the education system for practice was incomplete in considering the nursing that was needed for their on-site practice. Also they were aware of the totality of the community and voluntarily tried to provide for the expansion of knowledge. • The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the trend of health and nursing researches published in the Journal of the Korean Gerontological Society for 30 years. Total 62 issues of the journal were reviewed and 135 articles(18.3%) were determined as health and nursing research. Among those 135 articles, studies with quantitative methodology were 110(81.5%) and ones with qualitative methodology were 10(7.4%). Less study adopt age criteria as elderly of 65 years old or older and most studies included community dwelling elderly in urban area. Among those quantitative researches survey was the most popular method(82.7%) compared to other types of studies including experimental studies. Experimental studies has been increased since the journal issued for the first time in the year of 1980, yet has occupied only minor portion in the journal until now. Qualitative studies appeared in the journal in the 90' for the first time. The findings of this review suggest that adequate amount of the studies has been published in the field of health and nursing, however more qualified researches are needed to be performed in terms of larger and more diverse subject groups, clearer and more objective criteria of elderly definition and health status, utilizing more objective and scientific instrument. Instruments of Korean culture oriented and phenomena sensitive are needed to be developed as well.

  • Currently, the domestic nursing information system software products are being developed competitively with the participation of many companies, generating quantitative development with high value added. However, it is true that the study that concurrently adds qualitative enhancements to such quantitative development has been inadequate. In order to secure international competitiveness in the field of nursing information system software, it is necessary to establish quality requirements on this system, and along with it, establish an evaluation system on the nursing information system software products. The purpose of this study is to analyze the accompaniment and technology of the nursing information system, and by identifying the requirements, establish test and evaluation system of the said system.

  • This triangulation study was performed in order to analyze the team competency effect of a capstone design nursing research course, and to appraise the content of team activity experiences. Subjects were 99 nursing students who were educated in the capstone design nursing research at D university. The teamwork competency of nursing students was compared before and after class, and the team activity experiences in the capstone design nursing research class was analyzed through narrative data. Our results show significant increases after class in task performance competency (t=-2.166, p=0.033), which includes goal execution competency (t=-2,224, p=0.028). In the interpersonal competency category, leadership was significantly increased after class (t=-2.085, p=0.040). The 5 categories evaluated were 'difficulties in managing resources', 'aware of the importance of personal effort and competency', 'efforts to effectively distribute roles', 'to realize the importance of communication', and 'strengthen the competency needed for clinical practice'. Through this research, we confirm that the capstone design nursing research course is effective for improving teamwork competency, and it provides a positive team activity experience to nursing students. Taken together, our findings indicate that the capstone design nursing research course can be applied to improve the nursing research competency by strengthening teamwork competency.

  • In this paper, the purpose of this qualitative research was to explore the communication experiences of nursing students during their clinical practice in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic among 4th grade nursing students. Data collection involved collecting reflective journals from 87 4th grade nursing college students who participated in clinical practice from December 19, 2022, to February 10, 2023. Participants were asked to freely write about their experiences following their clinical practice. The reflective journals were analyzed using Thematic Analysis by Braun & Clarke. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the research findings have yielded 142 meaningful statements, 30 provisional themes, 9 sub-themes, and 4 central themes regarding the communication experiences of nursing college students during their clinical practice. The four central themes identified are as follows: "A mask that became a language barrier", "Broken Communication", "Fear that the quality of nursing care will decline", "Body and mind overcoming difficulties." In conclusion, this study has facilitated an understanding of the communication experiences of nursing college students during clinical practice in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, this research can serve as foundational information for improving ineffective communication due to the use of various medical equipment required in infectious disease situations and for developing practical strategies in nursing education under infectious disease conditions.
