A fundamental study to recycle a Si-Sludge and waste copper nitrate solution acid solution generated by domestic electronic industries was carried out. The waste copper nitrate solution was used as the lixiviant to leach the metals like Cu, Ca, Fe, etc. from the sludge leaving Si in the residues. The effect of reaction temperature, time and pup density on the metals leaching from the sludge was investigated. To enhance the extractability of Fe, the effect of HCl, $HNO_3$ and $H_2O_2$ introduced additionally during the leaching was also examined. Considering the leaching efficiency of Fe along with Cu, the leaching conditions comprising of 200 ~ 225 g/L pulp density and $90^{\circ}C$ temperature for 30 min were optimized. Under this condition, 98.27 ~ 99.17% Cu could be dissolved in the leach liquor with the obtained purity of Si in the residues as 98.69 ~ 98.86 %. The study revealed that the leaching of Cu contained in the Si-Sludge with the waste copper nitrate solution is a plausible approach by which the obtained leach liquor can further be treated suitably to recover Cu as the high pure value-added products.
In order to resolve the problem of aged land[jlJ leachate treatment, limitation in removal of non-biodegradable materials and denitrification caused by carbon source shortage, we applied combined process consisted of 5MBR and RO to leachate treatment. We perfonned 5MBR pilot plant tests on Yongin City for a period of about lOOdays, demonstrated the performance of the SlVlUR process (($NH_3$-N removal efficiency; 90%). But there was also limitation to removal of non-biodegradable materials and denitrification. In full-scale plant we observed the IXrformance of combined process (SMI3R + R/O) in order to confirm the expected treatment efficiencies. Their results were approximately 98%, 94% of treatment efficiency in case of $COD_{Cr}$(<3 mg/L) and TN(<50 mg/L)respectively and the results of treatment were stable.
The present study to develop a process for extracting nitric acid and gold from aqua regia leach solution using TBP(tributyl phosphate) was conducted. The pure aqua regia was used to investigate the extractive behavior of nitric acid depending on the concentration of extractant, concentration ratio of nitric and hydrochloric acid. The extraction rate of nitric acid and gold from the gold bearing aqua regia was also examined. The theoretical extraction number was verified by counter current using the number of operations and the phase ratio obtained from McCabe-Thiele diagram. Stripping experiments were carried out for continuous recovery of nitric acid and gold in loaded organic. Considering the effect of extraction acid and gold, the simulation showed that greater than 99.9% extraction of $103.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ gold and 98.0% of $151.2g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ nitric acid could be attained in a two and three-stage counter-current extraction at an O/A phase ratio of 1:0.85. Distilled water and sodium thiosulfate were used as the nitric acid and gold stripping solution. The stripping rates were 99.5% and 92.0%, respectively. The study revealed that the recovery of nitric acid and gold from gold bearing aqua regia was a plausible approach through simultaneous extraction and continuous stripping of nitric acid and gold.
In this paper, we carried out separation of membrane and leaching of Pt and Ru using hydrochloric acid from MEA(membrane-electrode assembly) of fuel cell. In this method, these were separated from MEA of fuel cell using the distilled water, 10 vol.% butanol solution and 15 vol.% cationic surfactant(Koremul-LN-7) by dipping method without the dispersion of catalyst particles. And the leaching of Pt and Ru containing in the separated carbon paper catalysts has been studied by hydrochloric acid using $HNO_3$ or $H_2O_2$ as a oxidant. The leaching ratio of Pt and Ru were higher when $H_2O_2$ was used as a oxidant and the optimum conditions were obtained in 8M HCl, the amount of $H_2O_2$ 5M and 6 hours of leaching time at $90^{\circ}C$. In this condition, extraction of Pt and Ru were 98% and 71.5%, respectively.

Chemical characteristics and their interrelationships of 156 soils included by 74 sandy loam and 82 loam soils collected from plastic film house in Chungbuk area were investigated from 1998 to 2001. Seventeen chemical properties including pH, organic matter (OM), electrical conductivity (EC), inorganic nitrogen, available phosphorus, exchangeable cations, CEC, etc., were analyzed by correlation, standardized partial regression coefficient, and principal factor analysis. Standardized partial regression coefficients of chemical properties were estimated to determine the degree of contribution of EC and OM contents in soils. Principal factor analysis was applied to classify the studied chemical properties into different groups having similar chemical properties. The pH of experimental soils ranged from 4.24 to 7.14 and 4.95 to 7.35 for loam and sandy loam soils, respectively. The EC of soils varied from 0.93 to $15.65dS\;m^{-1}$ for loam and $0.91{\sim}22.30dS\;m^{-1}$ for sandy loam soils, respectively with significant differences among them. The EC measured by 1:5 $H_2O$ dilution method and saturation method were significantly related with 8.163 and 8.599 as the slopes of regression equation for loam and sandy loam soils, respectively. These slopes more than 8.0 in this regression equation was higher than the slope of 5.0 that is estimated from dilution coefficient suggesting that EC measured by 1:5 dilution method might be erratic. The standardized partial regression coefficient of different chemical properties for the estimation of EC was in the order of $NO_3{^-}$ > $Cl^-$ > OM > exchangeable Mg for loam soils and $NO_3{^-}$ > exchangeable Mg > $Cl^-$ for sandy loam soils. Contribution order of the chemical properties based on standardized partial regression coefficient differed 1:5 dilution method and saturation method, indicating that different chemical compounds might be present in the extract solutions of these two methods. Consequently the measurement of EC by saturation method was thought be still better for estimation of chemical property because accuracy of EC measurement by 1:5 dilution method can't be improved by any specific coefficient for adjustment of EC. Regardless of differences in soil textures and extraction methods, correlation coefficients between EC and the other chemical properties were routinely in the order of $NO_3{^-}$ > $Cl^-$ > degree of base saturation > exchangeable Mg > exchangeable Ca > $SO{_4}^{2-}$. The principal factor analysis revealed four factor groups of the chemical properties studied. The groups for sandy loam were as follows; ; 1. salt components, 2. soil reaction components, 3. fixed and adsorption components, 4. CEC components. The groupings of loam soils were similar to sandy loam except that exchangeable Na substituted the CEC of sandy loam.

This study was carried out to evaluate geochemical properties for stream sediments, surrounding soils, sludge collected in the drainage pipe of leachate and waters (stream water, groundwater, leachate) around the Pungam Landfill in Gwangju city. The stream sediments don't show any systematic trend of contents from upstream to downstream. The most enriched major element in the stream sediments is Fe (up to 7.08wt.% in GJ-23). Though stream sediment GJ-23 and GJ-34 were enriched by some heavy metals (eg. As, Cu, Zn), they do not constitute serious problems for environment consideration. The concentration of Fe (35.lwt.%) and As (38ppm) are significantly high in the GJ-8, which is soil specimen adjacent to leachate reservoir. The sludge (GJ-7) shows very high concentrations of As, Mn, Cr, Pb. In particular, the Cr content is 45.6 ppm, which exceeds the permitted level. The leachate is characterized by high TDS (2210-2470mg/L) and high electric conductivity (468, 530ms/cm), and enriched in both cation (Na, K) and anion (HCO$_3$). The leachate(PK-3) had a relatively high concentration of Cl, and is plotted in Na-Cl type on the Piper's diagram. The NO$_3$-N of the groundwater and stream water exceeded the permitted levels for drinking water.
This study was to investigate the content of total phenolic compounds, electron donating ability, nitrate-scavenging effect, and angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) inhibition effect of medicinal plant liquors prepared from Cnidium officinale, Angelica gigas, Pueraria thunbergiana(root), Pueraria thunbergiana (flower), and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. Physicochemical characteristics of the medicinal plant liquors are as follows: pH $5.65{\sim}6.36$; reducing sugar, $0.13{\sim}0.45\%$. The highest value of total phenolic compounds was found in liquor prepared with Pueraria thunbergiana(root) as $23.9{\sim}54.3\;mg\%$. The electron donating ability of liquor prepared with Pueraria thunbergiana showed the highest value($67.4{\sim}85.3\%$) among the liquors, and its nitrite scavenging ability($24.56{\sim}78.3\%$) showed the highest value than those of other medicianal plant liquors. ACE inhibitory activity showed the highest value in liquor prepared with Cnidium officinale.
