Based on the linear potential theory with the side wall reflection. the directional spectrum waves are numerically simulated by a source distribution method and these together with long-crested irregular waves are also generated at the towing tank of Pusan National University by considering the transfer function of the wave maker obtained from the regular waves. In the numerical simulation, the characteristics of the directional spreading function are investigated by changing the breadth of the wave-maker unit. the width of the towing tank and the wave period. In the experimental generation, the statistical properties and the power spectrums of the long-crested irregular and directional waves are compared along the towing tank length. The directional spreading functions are also investigated at various positions in the tank.
This paper compares the fatigue behaviors of concretes subjected to flexural and split-tensional loadings, and proposes the fatigue reliability models based on experimental results and reliability analysis. The fatigue tests were performed for the specimens of $150 mm{\times}75 mm$ split tensional cylinders and $150 mm{\times}150 mm{\times}550 mm$ flexural beams under constant loadings at three levels (70, 80 and $90\%$) with 0.1 stress ratio, 20 Hz loading speed and sine wave. The reliability analysis on fatigue data was based on Weibull distribution of two-parameters. From fatigue test results, two criteria were proposed to reject the experimental fatigue data because of statistical variation of concrete fatigue data. Two parameters ($\alpha$and u) of Weibull distribution were obtained using graphical method, moment method and maximum likelihood method. The probability density function(P.D.F) and cumulative distribution function(C.D.F) of the Weibull distribution for fatigue life of pavement concrete were derived for various stress levels using parameters, $\alpha$ and u. The goodness-of-fit test by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was acceptable at $5\%$ level of significance. Based on reliability analysis, a fatigue model for pavement concrete was proposed and compared from existing models.

China Coastal Waters(CCW) usually appeared from June through October every years, and it appeared very strong in August. In the harmonic analysis for Sea level anomaly (SLA), the annual amplitude of the eastern part (8~9.5cm) in Jeju Island was lower than those of the western part (over 13cm). In the harmonic analysis for Sea Surface Temperature (SST), the annual amplitude of the eastern part($7{\sim}8.5^{\circ}C$) in Jeju Island was lower than those of the western part($5.5{\sim}6^{\circ}C$). For the Power Spectrum Density (PSD), SLA and SST remarkablely peaked on the annual period, semi-annual period and 3-monthly period. In summer and autumn, SLA of 1996 to 1999 was high in comparison to other years, and then it should be considered that the appearance of CCW was closely related to heavy rainfalls. The path of CCW formed this boundary of temperature between the yellow sea and the east china sea.
The objective of this paper is to study arelationship between maximum response and its standard deviation of rotational shells that are subjected to uneven settlements. For this, the ratio, .eta, of the maximum response to standard deviation and it's approximate, .eta./sub apr/, are investigated by stochastic methods. Also, an equation for .eta./sub apr/, that is a function of predominant harmonic number is suggested. The settlements are represented by the Fourier series. Each term in the series contains two coefficients; the amplitude and the phase angle. It is assumed that phase angles are random variables and amplitudes are deterministic. To investigate the characteristics of .eta. and .eta./sub apr/, 100 phase angles for two types of artificial amplitudes spectra are used in the analysis. .eta. and .eta./sub apr/, are almost constant regardless of amplitude type, position of a shell or type of responses; they fall into from 2.0 to 2.5. .eta./sub apr/ is always close to .eta., but tends to be somewhat greater. It may be concluded that a maximum responses of rotational shells subjected to uneven settlements are .eta./sub apr/ (about 2.5) times of its standard deviation. It is considered that this result is used when we design rotational shell structures subjected to differential settlements.
As a part of the short-period variability survey (SPVS) at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory, we obtained time-series BV CCD images in the region of the open cluster NGC 1039 (M34). The observations were performed for 22 nights from July 29, 2008 to September 26, 2010. We also made LOAO observations for 10 days from September 18, 2009 to October 30, 2010 to confirm the small variabilties of ${\delta}$ Scuti-type variable stars. In this paper we presented the observational properties of 28 variable stars found in the region. They are seven ${\delta}$ Scuti-type variable stars, two ${\gamma}$ Doradus-type variable stars, four-teen eclipsing binary stars and five semi-long periodic or slow irregular variables, respectively. Only three variables were listed in the GCVS and the rest are newly discovered ones. We have performed multiple-frequency analysis to determine pulsation frequencies of the ${\delta}$ Scuti-type and ${\gamma}$ Doradus-type variable stars, using the discrete Fourier transform and linear least-square fitting methods. We also have derived the periods and amplitudes of 12 eclipsing binaries from the phase fitting method, and presented the light curves of all variable stars.

Tidal computations of $M_2,\;S_2,\; K_1$ and $O_1$ constituents in the northeast Asian sea are presented by blending the Topex/Poseidon (T/P) altimeter data into a hydrodynamic model with $5'{\times}5'$ resolution. A series of sensitivity experiments on a weighting factor, which is the control parameter in the blending method, are carried out using $M_2$ constituent. The weighting factor is set to be in inverse proportion to the square root of water depth to reduce noises which could occur in data-assimilative model by blending T/P data. Model results obtained by blending the T/P-derived $M_2,\;S_2,\; K_1$ and $O_1$ constituents simultaneously are compared with all T/P-track tidal data; Average values of amplitude and phase errors are close to zero. Standard deviations of amplitude and phase errors are approximately 2 cm and less than 10 degrees respectively. The data-assimilative model results show a quite good agreement with T/P-derived tidal data, particularly in shallow water region (h<250m). In deep water regions, T/P-derived tidal data show unreasonable spatial variations in amplitude and phase. The data-assimilative model results differ from T/P-derived data, but are improved to show reasonable spatial variations in amplitude and phase. In addition, the T/P-blended model results are in good agreement with coastal tide gauge data which are not blended into the model.

The transverse moment of inertia is an indispensable factor in analyzing the roll motion characteristics of ships and the calculating method needs to be based on the more reasonable theories when deciding the value as the results and reliability of analysis could be much affected by the correctness. However, the mass distribution and shape of hulls are quite complicated and give much difficulties in case of calculating the value directly from the ship design data, furthermore even acquiring the detailed design data for calculation is almost impossible. Therefore some simpler ways are practically adopted in the assumption that the gyradius of roll moment can be decided by a given ratio and hull width. It is well known that the responses of the free roll decay are varied according to the value of roll moment in view of roll period and amplitude decay ratio, so that the general formula to get the moment value can be derived also from the observation of roll decay responses. This study presents how the roll period and decay ratio are interrelated each other from the roll motion characteristics with suggesting a general formula to be able to calculate roll moment from it. Finally, the obtained general formula has been applied to a ship data to check the resultant characteristics through analyzing graphs and showed that the roll moment becomes more accurate when rolling period and decay ratio are considered together in calculation.
The present study investigated flow dynamics of a two-dimensional abdominal aortic bifurcation model under sinusoidal flow conditions considering wall motion. impedance phase angle(time delay between pressure and flow waveforms), and non-Newtonian fluid using computational fluid dynamics. The wall shear stress showed large variations in the bifurcated region and the wall motion reduced amplitude of wall shear stress significantly. As the impedance phase angle was changed to more negative values, the mean wall shear stress (time-averaged) decreased while the amplitude (oscillatory) of wall shear stress increased. At the curvature site on the outer wall where the mean wall shear stress approached zero. influence of the phase angle was relatively large. The mean wall shear stress decreased by $50\%$ in the $-90^{\circ}$ phase angle (flow wave advanced pressure wave by a quarter period) compared to the $0^{\circ}$ phase angle while the amplitude of wall shear stress increased by $15\%$. Therefore, hypertensive patients who tend to have large negative phase angles become more vulnerable to atherosclerosis according to the low and oscillatory shear stress theory because of the reduced mean and the increased oscillatory wall shear stresses. Non-Newtonian characteristics of fluid substantially increased the mean wall shear stress resulting in a less vulnerable state to atherosclerosis.

This study was proposed as an exploratory study for understanding the biological bases and structures of three personality models: Eysenck's PEN model, Gray's BIS/BAS model, and Costa & McCrae's Five Factor Model, which was chosen as the major descriptive model regardless of its biological bases. Besides, Eysenck's impulsivity scale, IVE, was added to demonstrate the relationship of P and impulsivity. Concerning personality, most previous reports have explored the relationships between P300 and the introversion-extraversion of Eysenck's theory because of its putative biological bases. In the present study, forty-eight undergraduate took four personality batteries (ERQ-R, NEO-Pl-R, BIS/BAS, and IVE). Two types of oddball tasks including different stimulus duration were used to induce ERPs (50ms for task 1, 300ms for task 2). Distributional topographies of correlation coefficients with personality traits and ERP components were drawn, and considered for the consistent interpretation of the personality model structures. Even though all equivalences for extraversion of personality batteries showed similarities for their intra-correlation, their correlations with P3 amplitudes were dissociate. Eysenck's E might not be the proper psychometric measure for elucidating its biological bases. The present study supported the negative relationship of P3 amplitude and extraversion, which is the consensus of previous studies. Neuroticism and Psychoticism showed correlations with the earlier sensory processing components such as N1 and P2. This result might explain the reason why most of studies have failed to find biological connections relating them. Interaction between gender and personality traits should be considered for the interpretation of correlations. Two types of auditory stimulus duration had different sensitivity to personality traits.

In indoor radio systems, vehicular communication systems, and land mobile systems, a very important problem is that of maintaing stable communications at all locations. Therefore solutions for the indoor propagation problem are an important aspects of the mobile communication system. Leaky coaxial cables finding increasing use in communications systems involving mines, tunnels, railroads, and highways, and in new obstacle detection, or guided radar, schemes for ground transpor- tation and perimeter surveilance. In this paper a leaky coaxial cable having periodic slots in the outer conductor is described to obtain the propagation modes in the various environments. We use an essentric cylindrical model to develop the theory for surface-wave propagation on the cable. Numerical Results are also included for the propagation constants, field distribution and impedance as functions of various parameters. First, we derive the electromagnetic equation for leaky coaxial cable having periodic slots using mode-matching method and Floguet's theorem, and then find various modes, propagation constants, field distribution, etc.
