Export Marketing Strategy through the Analysis of Intra-Industry Trade in Gwangju Region (광주지역의 산업내무역 분석을 통한 수출마케팅 전략)

  • This study is to analyze Gwangju's trade structures with China, Japan and the United Sates, and to contribute, through clarification of product competitiveness, to minimizing free-trade-induced costs as well as maximizing profits from free trade. To obtain this study purpose, two export competitiveness indicators are used; they are Trade Specialization Index (TSI) and Grubel & Lloyd(GL) Index. Intra-industry trade is examined to see if there exists a technological gap between nations. Intra-industry trade is divided into two; Low Quality Vertical Intra-Industry Trade (LQVIIT) and High Quality Vertical Intra-Industry Trade (HQVIIT). Gwangju's trade with China is HQVIIT; Gwangju exports high-quality and high-priced items to China, and imports low-quality and low-priced ones. On the other hand, Gwangu's trade with Japan is mainly LQVIIT; Gwangju exports low-quality and low-priced processed stuffs to Japan, and imports high-quality and high-priced ones from Japan. While Korea-US is mainly of both high-quality and low-quality Vertical Intra-Industry Trade; Gwangju exports low-quality and low-priced items as well as high-quality and high-priced items to the USA. Based on the analysis result, export marketing strategies are presented as follows: the transition to high value-added export system, the local entry networking, government support for trade exhibition, offer of special program on local small businesses.

An Exploratory Study on Logistics Infrastructures in Cambodia : Current Issues and Future Solutions (캄보디아의 물류 기반시설에 관한 탐색적 연구 : 그 쟁점과 해결방안)

  • This study uncovered some issues that have constrained the development of logistics performance in Cambodia. Firstly, literature review was narrowed down to include studies involving the relationship between Logistics and transportation, the relationship between the infrastructure and economic growth and the important role of logistics on economic growth and poverty reduction. Then the next step the study identified some issues related to transport infrastructure that were assumed to cause the enhancement of logistics sector. Moreover, a case study about cost and time analysis was used to address some issues of logistics cost in Cambodia comparing to its neighboring countries: Thailand and Vietnam. Based on the time and cost analysis, it revealed that the logistics cost in Cambodia is much high than Thailand and Vietnam. In addition, some logistics issues were found through other two case studies about the export and trade facilitation. The participants raised some issues related to issuance of certificate of origin, the availability of information about agreements, laws, rules, and regulations, checkpoints along the corridor and opening hours of logistics service providers and slow processes. Then the authors suggested some appropriate solutions to answer to the current issues related to transport infrastructure and logistics sector in Cambodia.

A Study on the Analysis of Success Factors about Frozen and Refrigerated Warehouses using Fuzzy-AHP (Fuzzy-AHP를 활용한 냉동·냉장창고의 운영 성공요인 분석에 대한 연구)

  • The Fuzzy-analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was adopted as the methodology for this study because it allows for the use qualitative judgments by experts. Based on results of the analysis of the success factors for frozen storage/cold storage warehouses, the facility factor was identified as the most important to consider. This factor had a weight of 0.307, followed by systems and operations, accessibility, and standardization/automation with weights of 0.263, 0.255, and 0.175, respectively. The conclusions and implications of the study are as follows. First, the efficiency of constant temperature and humidity systems and the heat insulation property of buildings need to be enhanced. Second, the efficiency of the operations should be enhanced through the standardization of equipment rather than by standardizing product loading. Finally, since logistics and transportation costs are higher for frozen storage/cold storage warehouses than for general distribution, accessibility needs to be considered as the first priority.

A Study on the Effects of Psychological Capital on Pro-social Organizational Behavior in Local Subsidiary Abroad : Focusing on the Type of Leadership as a Moderator. (해외법인 현지국 직원의 긍정심리자본과 친사회적 조직 행동 간의 관계 - 리더십 유형의 조절효과를 중심으로 -)

  • The objective of this study has two filds. The first is to examine the effect of native employee's psychological capital on their pro-social organizational behavior in the context of a local subsidiary in abroad. The second is to investigate the moderation effect of non-native managers' leadership type in the relationships between psychological capital and pro-social organizational behavior. The researcher provides the theoretical research model based on the pro-social capital theory and then empirically tests the model by using a valid 334-case collected from three overseas-affiliated-companies in Philippines. The results show that native employees' psychological capital positively and significantly influences to pro-social organizational behavior. Moreover, non-native managers' type of leaderships has the significant moderation effects in relationships between native workers' psychological capital and pro-social organizational behavior. Specifically, stronger relationships are identified in all of relationships when the managers show transactional, transformational and authentic leaderships. Theoretical contributions and practical recommendations are also discussed based on the results of the study.

  • This study researches on global technology trend in each of composing technology, such as grouting material, grouting equipment, and construction management technology, which grouting technology has been founded upon to improve relatively inadequate domestic grouting technology and to establish the global standard for overseas expansion in the future. As far as grouting material is concerned, while High-Penetration and High-Strength micro cement ($1.5{\mu}m$) has been developed in 2000's in Japan, JinChun Kim et al. (2014) has been developing hybrid type micro cement grouting material and examining specifications of different kinds of projects and countries to analyze the trend of grouting equipment development. The specification contains detailed requisite specification for materials, mixers, pumps, agitators, and packers and it has to satisfy the standard of different countries to win global contracts. Grouting management technology can be divided into four different generations and Scandinavian countries, such as Sweden, Norway, and Finland, Japan, and South Korea are recently doing vigorous researches on the Fourth generation which merges grouting technology with ICT.

  • Ramyeon is a wheat-food that has been mixed a dietary culture of China, Japan, American and Korea. Simultaneously it was the first convenience food that made of flour in Korea, which had been relatively few recipes until the early 1960's. To examine the changes of Ramyeon which has been consumed in large quantities since the late 1960s, this paper classified 1963~2012 into 6 periods. From political, economic, social, cultural and international perspectives we considered the changes of Ramyeon through the articles analysis of mass media(DongaIlbo, The KyunghyangShinmun, MBC news). The total number of articles was 3,823 with an average of 76.46/y. Each field was summarized as following sub-topics; In political(Election, North Korea), in economic(Price, Economy), in social(Promotion campaign for eating of flour, Incidents, Donation), in cultural(Consumption, Extreme situations, Nutrition) and in international field(Exporting). Each period was named according to the feature; Early stage, Expansion stage, Domestic growth stage, Overseas stage, Advanced stage, Transition stage. Ramyeon has changed in a closely relation with society for past 50 years.

  • This study is focus on the relationship between the role of FTA and service trade performance enhancing strategy in Korea. and It is on the verification of the focus to the competitive promoting strategy of the logistics industry. finally proposition of the policy making to the government is proposed in the research. The invigoration of the service trade through FTA focus on the logistics industry is very combinative economy policy target with the side of government and the side of private enterprises both. added to this, this is the goal of impossible to achieve just with the development of logistics industry itself. it needs to construct the organic relationship, that is the implement and enforcement of the SCM through logistics industry network. Thus, on logistics, the 3rd party operating system implementation is top priority to gain international competitiveness. furthermore, the 4th party facilitation including consulting function and IT technology to pursue the maximum effectiveness logistics service providing.

  • The objective of the present case study is to analysis how effectively Hilti, which is a former family firm owned and managed by a family in Liechtenstein as a tiny european country, a land sandwiched between Switzerland and Austria, has made a global market success. Liechtenstein has $160km^2$ land and about 36,000 residents. Despite its small size of country, however, Hilti Corporation doesn't view its location as a liability in its business strategy. Hilti is a global leading provider of professional power tools in building, mining, civil engineering etc. Also, Hilti is a firm with a clear vision to become the leading industry partner for construction professionals and building installations through customer focus, high quality equipment, and tools and systems specially designed for specific jobs. This study considered Hilti as a good case, which verifies that born-conditions, endogenous factors according to Michael Porters diamond model does not decisive role more for international competitiveness of firms. Lessons from Hilti are that in order to obtain and sustain the global competitiveness of small and medium-sized firms in Korean manufacturing sector under high production cost, they have to do actively innovative. Also they can give to customers newer and higher customer-values than competitors in abroad give. The case summarizes that the strategy of Hilti for the global market success is comprised of several factors: Technological and organizational innovation, and a clear customer-value oriented business strategy and its implementation. Innovation and its integration into marketing for the customers value creation is central to Hilti's Success. The present case study is expected to provide insights and implication for many firms in Korea that are seeking to secure global presence and market success.

  • The promotion of economic exchange and cooperation between North and South Korea is significant in two ways. First, the pursuit of economic interest can lead gradually to the unification of the national economies. Second, economic relations can serve as the first stride toward political reunification. There are, however, many difficulties in conceiving a strategy for economic cooperation between North and South Korea because of their differences in ideology and socio-economic system. Under these circumstances, a bid by either the North or the South to consider its specific ideology or socio-economic system absolute and to impose them on the other side would inevitably lead to confrontation and collision and deepen the division of the country. Therefore, steps to expand and develop economic and technological cooperation and comprehensive exchanges between the North and the South, with due regard to the development of bilateral relations, are in full accord with the interests of the both sides. It is clear that North Korea's changing attitude toward its environmental conditions is neither a policy of opening nor an ideological shift toward pragmatism, as has occurred in the Eastern European countries. Instead, it is a temporary tactic for breaking out of the economic stagnation caused by its rigid economic structure. In this light, we must.

  • Since railway industry is becoming important globally, Korea government and private enterprises invest huge amount of R&D expenditure to develop railway technologies. However, ratio of successful commercialization of technology is very limited. establishment strategy of specialized institution for commercializing railway technologies is very important research issue. For example, France and Japan support railway commercialization through the specialized organization in leading the global railway industry. This study propose the critical success factors of the establishment of railway commercialization and suggest relative importance of CSF's through the hierarchical analysis. As a result, the financial resource plan(0.505) and the commercialization strategy(0.193) are important factors at the first level, and the government funding plan(0.220) and the legal/institutional support(0.150) are important factors for the commercialization organization at the second level.
