  • This study aimed to analyze the authenticity of dark tourism, and to discuss the possibilities and limitations of disaster tourism as an alternative type of tourism in post-modern society. For this purpose, disaster tourism related with the Great East Japan Earthquake was analyzed. After the disaster occurred, the boundaries between guests (tourists) and hosts (residents) dissolved and disaster communities emerged temporarily. This was followed by social contributive tourism, in which both guests and hosts shared their matter of life-and-death experiences, so existential authenticity became the most important motive and experience for tourism. As time passed, however, existential authenticity was reconstructed ideologically in the socioeconomic political context of disaster recovery, and replaced constructive authenticity. After all, the possibilities of disaster tourism as an alternative type of tourism based on the introspection of modernity were restricted. To discuss the underlying ethical issues of the commodification of disaster tourism, further researches should conducted to consider dark tourism as an alternative type of postmodern tourism.

  • This study aims to investigate the awareness, nursing needs, and nursing satisfaction of conscious sedation, and their relationships in the guardians of hospitalized children receiving conscious sedation. Data were collected from 120 guardians of children who were admitted to the pediatric ward of University Hospital C in D city from July 6 to October 6, 2016 and received conscious sedation as a pretreatment for diagnostic tests. The result showed that the guardians' awareness was relatively low (2.49±0.83) and nursing needs (4.53±0.40) was found to be significantly higher than nursing satisfaction (3.81±0.56)(p<.001). Awareness showed a significant positive correlation with nursing satisfaction (r=.18, p=.048) and there was a significant positive correlation between nursing needs and satisfaction (r=.20, p=.033). This result suggested that in order to improve the nursing satisfaction of the guardians, it is necessary to understand the awareness and nursing needs of the guardians on conscious sedation. In addition, the development of customized nursing intervention should be carried out based on the awareness and nursing needs.

  • We investigated the role of product-influencer congruence between social distance, perceived authenticity and attitude toward ads. In particular, we focused on the mediating effect of perceived authenticity on the relationship between social distance and attitude toward ads. Also, we interested in the conditional indirect effect of product-influencer congruence on the mediation process. For our purposes, data were collected from a convenience sample of 340 undergraduate students at a large university in South Korea. Our results indicated that social distance is directly related to the perceived authenticity and, consequently, affects attitude toward ads. Also, an indirect effect of the perceived authenticity was significant on the low level of product-influencer congruence and not in the high level. Our findings suggest that marketing managers should consider the social media influencer's authenticity and congruence between the product and the influencer.

  • Sometimes the dentists encounter a child who can not be treated with traditional behavior management techniques (for example, reward, restraint, Tell-Show-Do, familialization). In such a case, the dentists use sedation technique. Recently, in Korea, the use of sedation by pediatric dentists is increased. But, the guideline and survey of sedation is very insufficient. Now, we need a survey of sedation practice in Korea. We carried out research on the actual condition about sedation with a questionaire to pediatric dentists in Korea. Followings are the conclusions 1. Sixty six percent of pediatric dentists use sedative agents in their practice. In this study, using sedation shows an increase as compared with the past. 2. Determinative factors of using sedation were orderly behavior management, number of visiting, guidian's opinion, amount of treatment, general condition. 3. Distribution of ages in patients sedated with agents was orderly 3 years, 4-5 years, under 2 years, 6-10 years, more than 10 years. 4. Particular sedative drugs were chloral hydrate 60-70mg/kg, hydroxyzine 10-40mg/kg(25mg/kg), and oral route was the most favorable route. 5. Observation of skin and nail color, pulse oximeter were the most frequently utillized monitoring method during sedation. 6. Only fifty six percent of pediatric dentists complete the cardiopulmonary resuscitation course.

  • Purpose : We reported previously that intramuscular ketamine with adjunctive midazolam is more effective than ketamine alone in pediatric procedural sedation, but with limited satisfactory sedation by suboptimal ketamine dose. The optimal dose of intramuscular ketamine in children has never been studied in Korea. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness and adverse events of ketamine 4mg/kg with adjunctive midazolam in pediatric laceration repair. Methods : From Jan. 2005 to July 2005, we enrolled 60 children, aged 3 months-7 years, who needed laceration repair under sedation. After verbal consent from parents, patients were randomly assigned to KMA group(IM ketamine 4 mg/kg+atropine 0.01 mg/kg+intramuscular midazolam 0.05 mg/kg) or KA group(without midazolam). We compared both groups with the induction time, recovery time, total sedation time, efficacy of sedation, adverse effects, and the satisfaction score of treating physicians. Results : Potentially confounding variables, age, weight, injury site and anxiety score, were similar between groups. The induction time, recovery time and total sedation time were not different statistically. In KMA group, 90.9 percent of patients showed satisfactory sedation compared to 66.7 percent of KA group(P=0.02) and the occurrence rate of significant adverse effect was 0.0 percent and 37.0 percent respectively. Conclusion : We found adjunctive midazolam with ketamine doses of 4 mg/kg IM produced more effective, satisfactory sedation and less adverse effect than without midazolam in pediatric laceration repair. The emergence phenomenon(agitation during recovery) only occurred in 9 KA group patients. In spite of adverse effect, all patients recovered, were discharged and there were no reported delayed events.

  • Sedation is an indispensable part of contemporary pediatric dentistry. The Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (KAPD) organized the dental sedation committee to help members perform safer and more effective sedation. The committee surveyed 111 members who practice dental sedation to figure out the present state of sedation in 2014. According to the survey, 86% of the respondents indicated that they were interested in continuing education of sedation. The most interesting topic was sedation related emergency management, followed by safe dosages of sedative drugs. However, it is not realistic to establish the recommended dosages as a guideline since the selection of agents and dosages depend on various factors. In order to provide successful sedation, pediatric dentist should make an individual sedation plan for each procedure. It is important to understand not only the properties of each sedative, but also interactions with other drugs. This article reviews useful information of commonly used agents for dental sedation and summarizes the recommended dosages from the Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR) and some famous pediatric dentistry textbooks.

  • research tries to present the role of perceived justice and authenticity in service recovery process. Prior research on the service recovery have focused on relationship among perceived justice, recovery satisfaction and positive customer behavior. Especially perceived justice including distributive, procedural, and interactional justice has addressed as most important antecedents of recovery satisfaction. Although the pivotal role of perceived justice for successful service recovery has agreed by many researchers, relatively little attention has been paid to emotional aspect of customer. During the service recovery process, even if customer perceived recovery effort from service provider as justice one, they might feel displeasure or dissatisfaction. It means prior researches have underestimated the importance of emotional aspect while they focus on cognitive aspects. The one research focused on emotional aspects examined effect of authenticity in service context with other related factors. However, solely examined effect of authenticity is not enough to present proper implication effect between justice and authenticity so that it can be understood more clearly. In this study, we examined customer reactions to service failure and recovery process in restaurant service settings. Specifically, we focused on the moderating effect of authenticity on the paths between perceived justice and outcome variables such as forgiveness and recovery satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the components of how clients perceive the counselors' authenticity in actual counseling, and to examine the therapeutic changes and processes related to the counselors' authenticity. In-depth interviews were conducted with 12 clients majoring in counseling at graduate school, and as a result of analyzing using the Grounded theory approach, 57 concepts, 40 sub-categories, and 14 categories were derived. The major results of this study are as follows: first, the components of counselor authenticity perceived by clients were identified as 'honesty', 'sincere attitude', and 'heartfelt caring'. Second, counselors' authenticity was found to bring about deeper and generalized therapeutic changes when a deep level of acceptance and empathy for the client was accompanied. Finally, therapeutic changes in counselors' authenticity were found to be 'increasing self-understanding and acceptance', 'generalization of authenticity modeling', and 'increasing initiative in coping with problems'. This study contributed to the increase of the practical knowledge of the counselors' authenticity by identifying the therapeutic value of authenticity and factors, and provided the implications to education and training for novice counselors.
