Informal engineering education program for high school students was developed to cultivate engineering literacy using the human resources and facilities of university. Plant factory, a smart farming technology, was selected as a main theme, and the novel engineering camp program involving engineering design activities and intra-linter-team works was planned. The camp program was applied to 38 high school students in an active learning classroom. Five teams were constructed according to elemental technologies such as biotechnology, information-communication technology, energy engineering, mechanical engineering and architectural engineering, and the students were participated in intra- and inter-team activities to achieve the final goal of 'the construction of a plant factory in school'. The team works were conducted according to the eight steps of engineering design process (identifying the problem and need, identifying criteria and constraints, brainstorming possible solutions, selecting the best possible solution, constructing a prototype, testing and evaluating the solution, communicating the solution, and refining design). Participants' satisfaction survey showed that the satisfaction on the contents of engineering design was 4.48 on 5-point Likert scale. The participants' satisfaction on creative activity and systematic methodology was 4.43 on 5-point Likert scale. 97% of participants responded positively to team works, and 92% of participants were satisfied with career mentoring activity supplied by undergraduate/graduate students. These results indicates that the engineering camp program involving engineering design activity and intra-/inter-team works can contribute to cultivate engineering literacy such as creativity, problem solving ability, collaboration, communication skills for high school students, and to increase their interests in engineering fields.

This study developed a big data-based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) program using WWT (World Wide Telescope), focusing on content elements of 'solar system', 'star and universe' in the 2015 revised science curriculum, and in order to find out the effectiveness of the STEAM program, analyzed creative problem solving, STEAM attitude, and STEAM satisfaction by applying it to one middle school 176 students simple random sampled. The results of this study are as follows. First, we developed a program to encourage students to actively and voluntarily participating, utilizing the astronomical data platform WWT. Second, in the paired t-test based on the difference between the pre- and post-scores of the creative problem solving measurement test, significant statistical test results were shown in 'idea adaptation', 'imaging', 'analogy', 'idea production' and 'elaboration' sub-factors except 'attention task' sub-factor (p < .05). Third, in the paired t-test based on the difference between the pre- and post-scores of the STEAM attitude test, significant statistical test results were shown in 'interest', 'communication', 'self-concept', 'self-efficacy' and 'science and engineering career choice' sub-factors except 'consideration' and 'usefulness / value recognition' sub-factors (p < .05). Fourth, in the STEAM satisfaction test conducted after class application, the average values of sub-factors were 3.16~3.90. The results indicated that students' understanding and interest in the science subject improved significantly through the big data-based STEAM program using the WWT.
The meaning of the mentee's experiences who participated in the mentoring program for freshmen of department of early childhood education The purpose of this study was to find the mentee's experiences and the meaning of mentee's experiences who participated in a mentoring program. The participants were 13 freshmen of early childhood education department in a three-year junior college. The data was collected through journal, open questionnaire, interview from March 21st to September 9th in 2010. The data was analyzed by segmenting, primary coding and depths coding. At the first session the mentees experienced complicated feelings, expectation of relationships with their mentors and acquired a lot of information from the mentoring program. Through the whole program mentees learned and executed many things: a time management, a good presentation skill, a reference searching way, preparation for exam, and career management. However, they felt sorry for that there was not informal meeting with their mentors. They thought the experience lucky, which is very difficult to have. So they want to give the experience back to their mentors and future mentees. They suggested advanced mentoring program based on their experiences as well.
For high school students in Jeonbuk, this study aims to identify the problems caused by outflow of local youth population and their preference factors to enter university in Seoul-metropolitan area, and to draw out the direction of local human resources program, through questionnaire investigation and focused group interview. The main findings are as follows: First, 68.8% of high school students, especially the top grade students prefer to enter university in metropolitan area. The metropolitan cultural characteristics, such as reputation of universities and ranking, openness and anonymity, and urban infrastructure attract students. Second, there is a close relationship between the individual background, growth area - enrollment area - employment area, and the location dependency without return migration is very strong. Third, local human resources program was evaluated as a meaningful activity for high school students, in order to understand the further education and career, and have an interest in local universities. Therefore, it is necessary to discover industries consistent with local identity, create networks, develop and implement programs considering the actual educational conditions. The gender-free program, supplement program for the integrated curriculum, and contents that to supplement science subjects should be developed. Additionally, this issue could be resolved expanding the perspective of balanced national development and improve the local environment to enhance the urban attraction points.
Chonnam National University Medical School has designed and implemented two career planning programs: a three-phase curriculum-based program and a longitudinal non-curricular program over the course of 6 academic years. The three phases of the curriculum-based career planning program are self-assessment, career exploration, and field experience. The non-curricular career counseling program operates through a faculty advisor system, with each faculty member guiding a group of students from each academic year, and students in each year forming a mentor-mentee relationship. The non-curricular career exploration program consists of a student research support program, an international practice program in basic and clinical medicine, and a specialty exploration fair. A survey conducted among 38 graduates (54.3%) working as interns at Chonnam National University Hospital revealed that graduates preferred autonomous elective subjects within the curriculum-based program. They also responded positively to the faculty advisor system, through which they maintained close relationships. A focus group interview with three interns indicated that subjects providing direct experience in fields of interest and courses that students could choose freely were helpful in career decisions. Through follow-up research, it is necessary to design and operate a systematic career planning program based on an analysis of the needs of graduates taking part in a residency training program after selecting a medical specialty.

The purpose of this study is to develop the STEAM program using 3D printer and to verify its effectiveness and students' satisfaction in order to draw implications and suggest the future directions. To design the alternative instructional framework utilizing the 3D printer, we used the learning standards of 'presenting the situation', 'creative design', and 'emotional experience' for the 3rd to 4th grade and 5th and 6th graders in elementary school. As a result of the experiment, statistically significant results were obtained about 'interest', 'care and communication', 'self-directed learning', 'career choice for science and engineering'. According to the students' satisfaction survey, students responded that they are interested in general, they can learn various subjects in relation to existing the regular classes, and that they have lots of making and experiencing activities.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of social support on career maturity and self-reliance of inmates in a juvenile reformatory. This survey was administered to the adolescents in S juvenile reformatory, which represents juvenile reformatory across the nation. Statistical analysis were performed using SPSS 22.0 for 115 complete responses. Results are as follows: First, the effects of social support on career maturity was found to be statistically significant, $R^2=.411$, p<.001. That is, support by friends and religious program personnel remained a significant influence on career maturity, after controlling for sociodemographic variables. Second, the effects of social support on self-reliance was also found to be statistically significant, $R^2=.520$, p<.001. It was shown that the support of friends and family as dependent variables, had statistically significant effects on self-reliance. The results of this study suggest the need to expand programs that reinforce support by friends, a meaningful variable, along with the need to seek and link available resources within the local community in order to build social support systems. It is also necessary to establish education and related organizations to provide effective socail support.

The present study tries to identify the characteristics of Problem Based Learning (PBL), which affects the development of middle school students' science self-efficacy. Additionally, we have tried to analyze the relationship within those characteristics to demonstrate the processes of science self-efficacy development. In line with this reasoning, we have developed a 20-module, problem-based learning science program and applied this program to 9th grade students (n=17). Two rounds of qualitative interviews have been conducted with each participant after the program, which has been analyzed with the well-documented method by Corbin and Strauss (2007). As a result, three characteristics of problem based learning have been identified to affect the development of science self-efficacy: a) authentic and ill-structured problem sets, b) small group activity, and c) result sharing. Further analysis has revealed that an authentic and ill-structured problem set as a condition precedent of self-efficacy development, while small group activity has worked as an acceleration condition. Lastly, sharing the result works as a transition condition to future interest on science-related activity or choosing science-related majors.
