With the development of industry, fine dust is causing difficulties in various fields such as environment, health, and life, and a large amount of pollutants generated from human social activities are emerging as a serious environmental problem due to air pollution. Therefore, in this study, activated carbon was added to remove fine dust and volatile organic compounds by spinning cellulose acetate polymer fibers on a silicon support using the electrospinning method. By varying the activated carbon ratio and electrospinning time, the fine dust blocking effect and toluene adsorption performance were confirmed according to the activated carbon ratio and filter thickness. As a result, it was shown that the particles were effectively blocked with the increase in the electrospinning time due to the filter thickness increase. Adsorbed amount of toluene was increased with increase in activated carbon amount. Light transmittance was decrease with increase in electrospinning time, showing that there were light transmittance in filters electrospun for 20~30 minutes.

Due to the limitation of construction efficiency and structural safety, the application of the high covering and wide width tunnels was limited prior to the introduction of precast rut and cover tunnels. Therefore, a cut and cover tunnel structure with rib reinforcement is proposed to mechanically improve the safety on condition of high covering and wide width tunnel. Therefore, a technical problem that can provide a response similar to the actual filling conditions is analyzed by the finite element analyses, moreover, the mechanical behaviour of developed rib-reinforced precast tunnel liner through a large-sized model test will be investigated. The ultimate load of the developed rib-reinforced precast tunnel liner shows a 3% reduction compared to existing rib-reinforced precast tunnel liner, especially, the section of rib-reinforcement decreased to 55% compared to it of existing. Therefore, the stability of tunnel structure can be significantly improved through the developed rib-reinforced precast segment.

This paper presents full scale model tests on the various types of model piles carried out to estimate the behavior of laterally loaded steel-concrete composite piles. Subgrade-reaction spring system was developed to simulate the reaction of ground in laboratory condition. In addition, lateral behavior of piles under working load condition was estimated using composite loading system, which is available for independent loading in vertical and horizontal direction. Steel-concrete composite piles showed higher efficiency in lateral resistance rather than drilled shaft made of reinforced concrete. The lateral resistance of composite pile was larger than the summation of steel pile and concrete pile due to the composite effect by steel casing. The effect of shear key or strength of concrete on the behavior of composite pile was examined. The substitution of reinforcing bar by steel casing was also investigated.

Based on the proven feasibility of bottom ash and tire shred-soil mixtures as lightweight fill materials, tire shred-bottom ash mixtures were suggested as a new lightweight fill material to replace the conventional construction material (soil) with bottom ash. Therefore, we carried out the field compaction test and performance test of large scale embankment in order to evaluate their suitability for the use of lightweight fill materials. In these tests, we could assess the settlement, earth pressure, stress-strain relation, vibration of large scale embankment which were made with tire shred-bottom ash mixture and the conventional fill material(weathered soil) respectively. The earthpressure and vibration transmission was decreased and the settlement behaviour of the 2 materials (tire shred mixture and weathered soil) was measured similarly under static/cyclic loading condition.

This paper delves into the crucial realm of support structures in metal additive manufacturing (AM) processes and their direct impact on the stiffness of printed components. With the continuous evolution of AM technologies, optimizing support structures has become imperative to enhance the overall quality and performance of manufactured metal parts. Therefore, in this study, tensile specimens were manufactured using various representative support design variables such as support type, spacing, and penetration depth, and the differences in displacement-load curve were analyzed though tensile test. Using additively manufactured support shaped tensile specimen, the paper presents a comprehensive examination of the effect of support parameters on their stiffness. The findings contribute to advancing the understanding how to design supports to suppress thermal deformation of metal parts during AM process, thereby paving the way for enhanced design freedom and functional performance in the ever-expanding field of AM.
In this study, an aqueous-based redox flow battery (RFB) was constructed using tungstosilic acid (TSA), which is a kind of polyoxometalate, as the negative electrode active material and iron chloride (FeCl3) as the positive electrode active material in a sulfuric acid (H2SO4) supporting electrolyte. As a result of the cell's performance, it exhibited capacity fading and low energy efficiency. To address these issues, malic acid (MA), an organic additive, was introduced to the positive electrode active material and then tested for electrochemical properties and single cell performance. The malic acid in the iron chloride aqueous solution is working as a chelate agent, and two carboxyl groups are effectively coordinated with iron ions. It was found that MA reduced the electrolyte resistance of the positive electrode active material, leading to chemical stabilization and an increase in capacity and energy efficiency.
We developed a coin cell battery using high-strength carbon fiber and glass fiber, taking a preliminary step toward creating a battery that supports structural loads and stores energy, with potential applications in satellite structures. High-strength fiber-based electrodes and electrolytes were fabricated and applied to coin cells to evaluate their electrochemical performance. Consequently, the discharge capacities under continuous charge/discharge cycles and high discharge rates of 2 C-rate were determined to be 122.9 and 103.5 mAh/g, respectively, indicating that high-strength fibers can replace conventional battery components. Although current performance is lower than that of commercial batteries, this research has demonstrated significant potential as foundational work for multi-functional energy storage devices and is expected to contribute to the development of structural batteries for satellite applications.

Recently, in order to meet the stricter emission regulations, the proportion of after-treatments for vehicles and vessels has been increasing gradually. The objective of this study is to investigate the improvement of $CH_4$ reduction ability of natural gas oxidation catalyst (NGOC), which reduces toxic gases emitted from CNG buses. Thirteen NGOCs were prepared, and the conversion performance of noxious gases according to the type of supports, the loading amount of noble metal, and surfactant and aging were determined. Support Zeolite supported on No. 3 $NGOC(1Pt-1Pd-3MgO-3CeO_2/(46TiO_2+23Al_2O_3+23Zeolite)$ is an anionic alkali metal/earth metal component that improved the oxidation reactivity between CO and NO and noble metal dispersion, and thus enhanced the $CH_4$ reduction ability. As the loading amount of Pd, a noble metal with a high selectivity to $CH_4$, was increased, the number of reaction sites was increased and the ability to reduce $CH_4$ was improved. No. 11 $NGOC(1Pt-1Pd-3MgO-3CeO_2/(Z20+Al80)$(pH=8.5), to which nitrate surfactant had been added, exhibited well dispersed catalyst particles with no agglomeration and improved the $CH_4$ reduction ability by 5-15%. The $NGOC(2Pt-2Pd-3Cr-3MgO/90Al_2O_3)$(48h aging), which was mildly thermal aged for 48h, increased the $CH_4$ reduction ability to about 10% or less as compared with No. 12 NGOC(Fresh).

The fuel assembly for pressurized water reactor (PWR) consists of fuel rod bundle, spacer grid and bottom/top end fittings. The cooling water in high pressure and temperature is introduced in lower plenum of reactor core and directed to upper plenum through the subchannel which is formed between the fuel rods. The main thermal-hydraulic performance parameters for the PWR fuel are pressure drop and critical heat flux in normal operating condition, and quenching time in accident condition. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has been developing an advanced PWR fuel, dual-cooled annular fuel and accident tolerant fuel for the enhancement of fuel performance and the localization. For the key thermal-hydraulic technology development of PWR fuel, the KAERI LWR fuel team has conducted the experiments for pressure drop, turbulent flow mixing and heat transfer, critical heat flux(CHF) and quenching. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was also performed to predict flow and heat transfer in fuel assembly including the spent fuel assembly in dry cask for interim repository. In addition, the research cooperation with university and nuclear fuel company was also carried out to develop a basic thermal-hydraulic technology and the commercialization.

This paper suggests a test and evaluation procedure of conformal load-bearing antenna structure(CLAS) for high speed military jet application. A log periodic patch type antenna was designed for multi-band communication and navigation antenna. Carbon/Glass fiber reinforced polymer was used as a structure supporting aerodynamic loads and honeycomb layer was used to improve antenna performance. Multi-layers were stacked and cured in a hot temperature oven. Gain, VSWR and polarization pattern of CLAS were measured using anechoic chamber within 0.15~2.0 GHz frequency range. Tension, shear, fatigue and impact load test were performed to evaluate structural strength of CLAS. Antenna performance test after every structural strength test was conducted to check the effect of structural test to antenna performance. After the application of new test and evaluation procedure to validate a new CLAS, a design improvement was found.
