In this study, we propose an association inference model based on data bias optimization for road hazard detection. This is a mining model based on association analysis to collect user's personal characteristics and surrounding environment data and provide traffic accident prevention services. This creates transaction data composed of various context variables. Based on the generated information, a meaningful correlation of variables in each transaction is derived through correlation pattern analysis. Considering the bias of classified categorical data, pruning is performed with optimized support and reliability values. Based on the extracted high-level association rules, a risk detection model for personal characteristics and driving road conditions is provided to users. This enables traffic services that overcome the data bias problem and prevent potential road accidents by considering the association between data. In the performance evaluation, the proposed method is excellently evaluated as 0.778 in accuracy and 0.743 in the Kappa coefficient.
The purpose of this study is to 1) investigate the prevalence rate of the abuse of parents by their teenage children and the effect of child abuse on parent abuse, 2) examine moderating effect of positive friend relationships on violence toward parents, and 3) provide the implication to the adolescent-to-parent abuse. In order to accomplish these purposes, a total of 1,601 who are middle and high school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi province were utilized. Data were analyzed by frequency analysis, and Poisson regression model analysis with SPSS 21.0. The main results of this study are as follows. Frist, prevalence of parent abuse were 12.8%. Second, 40.6% of adolescents have childhood experience of abuse, and this experience has significant relationships with perpetrating behavior toward parents. Lastly, adolescents' positive relationships with friends play an important role in moderating parent abuse. These findings suggest that there is a strong need to formulate the multilateral approaching system to the parent who are victims of abuse and perpetrating adolescents in order to understand the characteristics adolescent-to-parent violence problems and intervene effectively in diverse systems. Political and practical implications on parent abuse preventive programs and coping strategies are discussed.
Landslides occur due to heavy rainfall in the summer season. Some of water may infiltrate into the ground; it causes a high saturation condition capable of causing a landslide. Soil properties are crucial in estimating slope stability and debris flow occurrence. The main study areas are Gwanaksan, Suraksan and Bukhansan (Mountain) in Seoul. A total of 44 soil samples were taken from the study area; and a series of geotechnical tests were performed. Physical and mechanical properties were obtained and compared based on region. As a result, among well-graded soils, they are classified as a clayey sand. Coarse-grained and fine-grained contents are approximately 95% and 5%, respectively, with very low amount of clay content. Density, liquid limit and dry unit weight are ranged in $2.62{\sim}2.67g/cm^3$, 27.93~38.15% and $1.092{\sim}1.814g/cm^3$. Cohesion and internal friction angle are 4 kPa and $35^{\circ}$ regardless of mountain area. Coefficient of permeability is varied between $3.07{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}4.61{\times}10^{-2}cm/sec$; it means that it results in great seepage. Permeability is inversely proportional to the uniformity coefficient and is proportional to the effective particle size. In the formal case, there was a difference by mountain area, while in the latter, the tendency was almost similar.

In order to improve the durability of the PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells) polymer membrane, a radical scavenger and a support are used. In this study, the durability of membranes containing fucoidan extracted from seaweeds and tannic acid serving as a crosslinking agent is evaluated to improve chemical and physical durability. Physical durability is evaluated by measuring tensile strength, and chemical durability is measured by Fenton experiment. Membrane and electrode assembly (MEA) is prepared and mechanical and chemical durability are measured through accelerated durability evaluation in the cell. The tensile strength measurement showed that fucoidan and tannic acid can improve the mechanical durability of the membrane by improving the strain rate and yield strength. It is shown in Fenton experiment that fucoidan acts as a radical scavenger. As a result of the accelerated durability test in the unit cell, fucoidan improved both chemical and mechanical durability, increasing the accelerated durability evaluation time by 38.1% compared to the additive-free membrane. When tannic acid is added, the durability of the polymer membrane is improved by 13.9% by improving the mechanical durability.
The purpose of this study is to analyse the relation between dietary habit and nutrition knowledge, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) in the middle school students in Seoul, Korea. Total study subjects were 631 students, 51.8% was male and 48.2% was female. In the assessment of predisposition of ADHD, 93% was normal group and 7% was ADHD group. As for the gender in ADHD group, 56.8% was male and 43.2% was female. Normal group showed the higher breakfast consumption rate than ADHD group (p < 0.05). Dietary habits were better in normal group than ADHD group. Nutrition knowledge scores of normal group was 7.38 out of 15 and scores of ADHD group was 5.77 out of 15 (p < 0.01). The nutrition knowledge score and the dietary habits score showed a positive correlation (p < 0.01). The nutrition knowledge score and snack meal purchasing frequency showed a negative correlation (p < 0.05). There are significant negative correlation between attention deficit hyperactivity score and nutrition knowledge score (p < 0.01). In conclusion, ADHD group showed lower level of nutrition knowledge and worse dietary habits than the normal group.

A critical role of oxygen-derived free radicals has been implicated in ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced brain damage. In this study, we have produced experimental I/R to the brains of Mongolian gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus) by a transient occlusion and release of the common carotid arteries. We have attempted to determine whether the oxidative stress is generated upon I/R and whether this oxidative stress is linked to the cell damage. Since hippocampus has been suggested as one of the most vulnerable regions of the brain to the oxidative stress, we analyzed samples from hippocampus in comparison with those from cortex. In addition, we have examined the expression of heat shock protein 70kD species (HSP70) in these regions in order to evaluate a possible role of this protein in I/R-induced brain damage. To determine whether the oxidative stress is produced upon I/R, we measured the glutathione oxidation, GSSG/ (GSH + 2xGSSG), as an index of oxidative stress. We found an increase of the glutathione oxidation primarily in hippocampus upon I/R. To determine whether this oxidative stress is linked to the cell damage, we measured the degree of lipid peroxidation upon I/R. We found an increase of lipid peroxidation in both regions. However, the magnitude of increases was greater in hippocampus than in cortex. In addition, we found that changes in both the magnitude and the temporal patterns of glutathione oxidation closely correlated with those of lipid peroxidation. Our study provides biochemical evidences that the oxidative stress is generated upon I/R and this oxidative stress is linked to the oxidative cell damage. Our study also provides evidences that the degree of oxidative stress as well as oxidative cell damage is greater in hippocampus than in cortex. We could not find difference in the basal level of HSP70 expression between hippocampus and cortex, indicating that the intrinsic vulnerability of hippocampus cannot be explained by the lower level of HSP70 expression. We did find, however, that the induction of HSP70 expression upon I/R was impaired in the hippocampus. This impairment appeared to be at the transcriptional level. These results suggest that the measurement of HSP70 induction may be employed as a useful predictor of differential cellular susceptibilities to the I/R-induced brain damage.

In this study, hydrodynamics and reaction characteristic of K-based solid sorbents for $CO_2$ capture were investigated using a continuous system composed of two bubbling fluidized-bed reactors(1.2 m tall bed with 0.11 m i.d.). Potassium-based dry sorbents manufactured by the Korea Electric Power Research Institute were used, which were composed of $K_2CO_3$ of 35% for $CO_2$ absorption and supporters of 65% for mechanical strength. The continuous system consists of two bubbling fluidized-bed reactors, solid injection nozzle, riser, chiller, analyzer and heater for regeneration reaction. The minimum fluidizing velocity of the continuous system was 0.0088 m/s and the solid circulation rate measured was $10.3kg/m^2{\cdot}s$ at 1.05 m/s velocity of the solid injection nozzle. The $CO_2$ concentration of the simulated gas was about 10 vol% in dry basis. Reaction temperature in carbonator and regenerator were maintained about $70^{\circ}C$ and $200^{\circ}C$, respectively. Differential pressures, which were maintained in carbonator and regenerator, were about $415mmH_2O$ and $350mmH_2O$, respectively. In order to find out reaction characteristics of dry sorbents, several experiments were performed according to various experimental conditions such as $H_2O$ content(7.28~19.66%) in feed gas, velocity (0.053~0.103 m/s) of simulated gas, temperature($60{\sim}80^{\circ}C$) of a carbonator, temperature($150{\sim}200^{\circ}C$) of a regenerator and solid circulation rate($7.0{\sim}10.3kg/m^2{\cdot}s$). The respective data of operating variables were saved and analyzed after maintaining one hour in a stable manner. As a result of continuous operation, $CO_2$ removal tended to increase by increasing $H_2O$ content in feed gas, temperature of a regenerator and solid circulation rate and to decrease by increasing temperature of a carbonator and gas velocity in a carbonator.
The immunohistochemical localization of the nerve growth factor (NGF), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNIF) in the developing Mongolian gerbil forebrain was investigated by the immunohistochemical and electron microscopy methods. Generally, the NGF specifically recognizes the neurons, the GFAP does the glia, and the CNIF does the motor neurons. This study demonstrates the location of the NGF, GFAP and CNTF in the developing Mongolian gerbil from the embryonic days 17 (E17) to the postnatal weeks 3 (PNW 3). The NGF was localized at E19 in the olfactocy bulb and the cerebral cortex, expanded to the hippocampus, and the diagonal bond from the late prenatal period to PNW 3. GFAP was observed in the lateral ventricle and the third ventricle at E17, projected into the cerebral cortex at E19. The GFAP was observed to have the largest numbers in several parts of the forebrain at the postnatal days 2 (PND2), while the most numerous CNTF was observed at PNW 2. The CNTF-IR cells were observed only in the postnatal days and were found in the olfactory bulb, cerebral cortex both neuron and neuroglia at PND3. Electron microscopy showed that the NGF, GFAP and CNTF were not related to any connections with any particular subcellular structure. These results suggest that NGF, GFAP and CNTF be related to the neuron and neuroglia at the prenatal and postnatal stages in the developing Mongolian gerbil.
The objective of this study was to model the kinetics of S. aureus survival on high risk foods in school foodservice operations. After inoculating S. aureus ATCC25923 onto the various high risk foods, the effects of competitive microorganism, storage temperatures($25^{\circ}C$, $35^{\circ}C$), and initial contamination levels ($1.0{\times}10^2\;CFU/g$, $1.0{\times}10^5\;CFU/g$) on the growth of S. aureus were investigated. Lag time decreased and specific growth rate increased with a storage temperature ($25^{\circ}C$<$35^{\circ}C$) and with a higher initial inoculation level ($1.0{\times}10^2\;CFU/g$<$1.0{\times}10^5\;CFU/g$). Previously it was shown that S. aureus is a weaker competitor than other organisms, but it proliferates aggressively in a noncompetitive environment. However, in our study, when S. aureus was used to inoculate japchae (glass noodles with sauteed vegetables) and meat ball, the growth of S. aureus was similar and more active with competitive organisms than that without competitive organisms. Regardless of other factors, the initial level of S. aureus was a more significant factor of the growth. High inoculation levels of S. aureus were reached at 6 log CFU/g within 3 hours. An incubation temperature of $35^{\circ}C$ and the animal protein component of menu items also were identified as significant factors influencing the growth of S. aureus. Therefore, the duration of time meals are stored before serving should be considered a critical control point. Food service providers must control time and temperature to insure the safety of cooked foods.
This work describes the characteristics of $Malassezia$$pachydermatis$ isolated from dog ear canals and the effect of essential oils on the growth of this organism. Sterile cotton swabs were used to collect specimens from the external ear canal and culture tests were performed to detect the population size of $Malassezia$ yeast. Using three different isolation media, included Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA) to isolate common $M.$$pachydermatis$, and SDA supplemented with olive oil (SDAO) and Leeming's medium (LM) to detect lipophilic yeast, $Malassezia$ spp were isolated from 14 of 18 dogs (77.8%); isolation rates were 33.3% in SDA, 72.2% in SDAO and 66.7% in LM media. All $Malassezia$ spp isolates were identified as $M.$$pachydermatis$ according to results of PCR amplification, but gross colony morphology and SDA growth rates suggested four different subtypes. Large (LC) and medium colony (MC) types respectively describe large colony (diameter > 3 mm) and medium colony (around 2 mm) after 72 hour incubation, and small (SC) type refers to smaller colony (< 1 mm) even after 5 days incubation; lipid dependent colonies did not grow onto SDA. Large Colony type strains were isolated from 4, 11, and 11 samples, MC type strains from 2, 3 and 1 and SC type strains from 1, 2 and 1 in SDA, SDAO and LM, respectively. Lipid-dependent $M.$$pachydermatis$ (Lipo) were isolated from 3 samples each in SDAO and LM. Anti-$M.$$pachydermatis$ activity testing was done using disc-diffusion assays and well diffusion tests. Most essential oils inhibited the growth of $M.$$pachydermatis$ in a range from 0.5% to 1.0% of essential oils. MIC90 and MIC50 were variable depending upon the nature of essential oils. Thyme oil was found to be highly effective in inhibiting the growth of $M.$$pachydermatis$ in a range from 0.125% to 0.0625% while marjoram and then tea tree oil exhibited lower inhibitory capacity.
