Vector Calibration for Geomagnetic Field Based Indoor Localization (지자기 기반 실내 위치 추정을 위한 지자기 벡터 보정법)

  • Magnetic sensors have the disadvantage that their vector values differ depending on the direction. In this paper, we propose a magnetic vector calibration method for geomagnetic-based indoor localization estimates. The fingerprinting technique used in geomagnetic-based indoor localization the position by matching the magnetic field map and the magnetic sensor value. However, since the moving direction of the current user may be different from the moving direction of the person who creates the magnetic field map at the collection time, the sampled magnetic vector may have different values from the vector values recorded in the field map. This may substantially lower the positioning accuracy. To avoid this problem, the existing studies use only the magnitude of magnetic vector, but this reduces the uniqueness of the fingerprint, which may also degrade the positioning accuracy. In this paper we propose a vector calibration algorithm which can adjust the sampled magnetic vector values to the vector direction of the magnetic field map by using the parametric equation of a circle. This can minimize the inaccuracy caused by the direction mismatch.

Case studies for modeling magnetic anomalies with COMSOL Multiphysics® (콤솔 멀티피직스를 활용한 지자기장 모델링 사례 연구)

  • Magnetic anomalies are sensitive to magnetic properties present in deep Earth and near surface structures. Such geophysical characteristics often can be quantified by numerical analyses. In this study, we developed a finite element method (FEM) approach to compute magnetic anomalies using COMOL $Multiphysics^{(R)}$. This FEM approach was verified by comparing its numerical results with the previously known analytic solution for a uniformly magnetized sphere. Then, we used the method to compute magnetic reversal patterns near mid-ocean ridge with various faulting scenarios. This COMSOL-based approach can be incorporated into advanced multi-physical numerical models to understand the Earth.

  • 광자기 디스크의 자기 및 기록특성에 SiN 하지층이 미치는 영향에 대해서 연구하였다. PC기관에 4층구조막의 디스크를 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링에 의해 성막하였으며 스퍼터링 압력이 증가함에 따라 SiN 박막의 표면이 거칠어 지고 주상형성장이 현저하게 나타났다. SiN 하지층의 비세조직의 변화는 자기기록막의 보자력, 수직이방성 등에는 영향을 미치지 않았지만 지구의 형 성과정은 SiN 하지층의 조직에 따라 민감하게 변화하였다. SiN 하지층이 Porous 할수록 광자기 디스크의 기록이 이루어 지는 임계파우워 값이 작고, 또한 자구의 형성이 이루어 지는 임계외자 계의 크기도 넓은 범위에서 나타났다. 광자기 디스크의 기록특성을 증대시키기 위해서는 자기기 록막의 성능과는 관계없이 치밀하고 표면이 평할한 SiN 하지층을 증착하는 것이 필수적임을 관 찰하였다.

Geomagnetic Depth Sounding to Investigate the Trend of Electrical Conductivity in and around the Korean Peninsula (지자기 수직 탐사에 의한 한반도 주변의 전기전도도 구조)

  • Geomagnetic depth sounding (GDS) was performed to analyze the characteristics of deep resistivity structure in and around the Korean Peninsula. The data that have 0.01 nT precision were collected from 5 geomagnetic observatories and measured every one or five second. In this study, amount of 16 days of geomagnetic data were used for analyzing. Generally the sea affects the GDS data seriously due to its high conductivity. However, though the Korean peninsula is surrounded by seas in three sides, the results given by induction arrow strongly show that the trend of electrical conductivity at neighborhood of the Korean Peninsula is reigned by some geological features. Also it is believed that observation in Jeju island is related with the electrical structure around the East China Sea.

  • This work presents field-dependent Bingham and response characteristics of MR fluids under shear and flow modes. Two different types of magneto-viscometers are designed and manufactured for the shear and flow modes. respectively. For the MR fluid to be tested, MRF-132LD of Lord co. is employed. The field-dependent yield stress is experimentally distilled at various temperatures using the magneto-viscometers. Time responses of the MR fluids to step electric fields are also evaluated under two operating modes.

  • In this paper, we define ideal autocorrelation property for balanced quaternary sequence with even period. We also prove that our definition is ideal autocorrelation property for balanced quaternary sequence with even period. Furthermore, we propose a generation method of quaternary sequence with ideal autocorrelation property of period $2{\times}(2^n-1)$ using a binary sequence with ideal autocorrelation of period $2^n-1$ and Gray mapping. We also derive the autocorrelation value distribution of the newly proposed quaternary sequence.

  • 일반적으로 자기구성 지도에서는 구조가 초기에 결정되어 학습이 끝날때까지 변하기 않기 때문에 각 문제에 대한 구조를 반복된 실험을 통해서 최적화시켜야 한다. 그러나, 지도의 구조가 학습중에 적절하게 변경된다면, 해당 문제에 가장 알맞은 구조의 지도를 생성할 수 있을 것이다. 이 논문에서는 기존의 적응형 자기 구성 지도의 비교사 학습방법에 LVQ 알고리즘을 이용한 교사 학습방법을 결합한 구조 적응형 자기 구성 지도 모델을 제안한다. 이 방법은 일반적인 자기구성 지도 알고리즘보다 작은 수의 노드를 가지고 높은 성능을 보일 뿐만 아니라, 자기 구성 지도의 특성인 위상 보존도 잘 이루어진다. 오프라인 필기 숫자 데이터로 실험한 결과, 제안한 방법이 유용함을 알 수 있었다.

Polarization characteristics of magnetotelluric fields in the Korean peninsula (한반도에서 관측된 MT(Magnetotelluric)장의 분극 특성)

  • The polarized direction of MT field was analyzed using the MT dataset measured in the Korean Peninsula. The atmospherics above 1 Hz has a large dispersion of polarized direction, whereas the Schumann resonance near 8 Hz exhibits the predominant direction ranging from $N20^{\circ}W$ to NS. The electromagnetic field variations below 0.1 Hz, induced by magnetic pulsations, show a strongly polarized direction of nearly NS. It results from the regular pulsations since the regular pulsation fields, driven by Alfv.n's wave in the magnetosphere, has a worldwide predominant direction of NS. The MT field strongly polarized along NS direction causes the poorly behaved XY impedance.
