  • In this paper, an epipolar model without the ephemeris data is proposed. Also, various epipolar models such as the epipolar geometry of perspective sensor, the one proposed by Gupta and Hartley and the one based on the Orun and Natarajan's sensor model are reviewed and their accuracy are quantitatively analyzed using devised measure. Modeling data from ground control points, ground control points, ephemeris data and independent checking points are selected on SPOT over Taejon and Boryung area and KOMPSAT over Taejon and Nonsan area. Based on the results, the epipolar model of perspective sensor and the one by Gupta and Hartley have the average accuracy within 1 pixel but show high errors in several checking points. The proposed epipolarity model provides better results than that of perspective sensor and by Gupta and Hartley. Also, it shows the accuracy similar to the one based on Orun and Natarajan's sensor model.

  • The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is planning to launch CAS-500 (Compact Advanced Satellite 500) 1 and 2 in 2019 and 2020. Satellite image information collected through CAS-500 can be used in various fields such as global environmental monitoring, topographic map production, analysis for disaster prevention. In order to utilize in various fields like this, it is important to get the location accuracy of the satellite image. In order to establish the precise geometry of the satellite image, it is necessary to establish a precise sensor model using the GCP (Ground Control Point). In order to utilize various fields, step - by - step automation for orthoimage construction is required. To do this, a database of satellite image GCP chip should be structured systematically. Therefore, in this study, we will analyze various techniques for automatic GCP extraction for precise geometry of satellite images.

  • The SPR (Single Photo Resection) is widely used as a method of estimating the EOPs (Exterior Orientation parameters) at the time of taking a photograph, but it requires an initial value and has a disadvantage of being sensitive to the initial value. In this study, we introduce quaternion-based single photo resection and PnP (Perspective-n-Point) algorithm that do not require initial values and compare the results. Photos were taken using a general smartphone, and the ground control point acquisition was based on the hybrid MMS (Mobile Mapping System) point cloud data possessed by the researchers. As a result, when the collinear condition based SPR is true value, quaternion-based SPR has higher attitude angle estimation accuracy than PnP algorithm. In case of camera position estimation, both algorithms showed accuracy within 0.8m when compared with ground control points.

  • Recently, SAR Interferometry method is actively being studied as a new technic in topographic mapping using satellite imageries. it extract height values using two SAR imageries covering same areas. Unlike when using SPOT imageries, it isn't affected by atmospheric conditions and time. But it is difficult to process radar imageries and the height accuracy is very low where relief displacements are high. In this study, we produced DEM(Digital Elevation Model) using ERS-1, ERS-2 tandem data and analysed the height accuracy over 14 ground control points. The mean error in height was 14.06m. But when using airborne SAR data, it Is expected that we can produce more accurate DEM which will be able to ue used in updating 1/10,000 or 1/25,000 map.

  • In this study, we investigate the feasibility of modeling entire image strips that has been acquired from the same orbital segments. We tested sensor models based on satellite orbit and attitude with different sets(Type1 ~ Type4) of unknowns. We checked the accuracy of orbit modeling by establishing sensor models of one scene using control points extracted from the scene and by applying the models to adjacent scenes within the same orbital segments. Results indicated that modeling of individual scenes with 1st or 2nd order unknowns was recommended. We tested the accuracy of around control points, digital map using the HIST-DPW (Hanjin Information Systems & Telecommunication Digital Photogrammetric Workstation) As a result, we showed that the orbit-based sensor model is a suitable sensor model for making 1/25,000 digital map.

  • This study aims to draw a technique for practical using of GPS surveying to decide the positions of cadastrial control points. GPS surveying is carried out at cadastrial triangulation points and supplementary control points. This paper includes characteristics of transformation of WGS84 into Tokyo datum, two dimensional solutions for GPS baseline vector, and combined solutions of both GPS and terrestrial data. As a results of this study, it is verifiable that GPS surveying is very efficient to check the existing control network. 2-D network adjustment technique using GPS baseline vector is applicable to Tokyo datum without coordinate transformation. And it is expected to improve efficiency by using either rapid-static or stop and go kinematic surveying in cadastrial surveying at small areas.

  • In this study, a technique for estimating water surface velocity fields in the Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system using the GPS information of a propagating drone but not ground control points is developed. First, we determine the image direction in which the upper side of an image is directed based on the navigation information of the drone. Subsequently, we assign the start and end frames of the video used and determine the analysis range. Using these two frames, we segment the measurement cross-section into a few subsections at regular intervals. At these subsections, we analyze 30 frame images to create spatio-temporal volumes for calculating the velocity fields. The results of the developed method (propagating drone surface image velocimetry) are compared with those of the existing method (hovering drone surface image velocimetry), and relatively good agreement is indicated between both in terms of the velocity fields.

  • A new stereo matching method for the relative orientation and the photogrammetric triangulation has been pro-posed. It matches the pairs of conjugate points to be used as pass points and tie points in digital aerial photographs instead of selecting these points with manual point transfer and measurements. Three unique steps included in the proposed matching method are as followings. The first step is searching interest points, and designating them as candidate points to be matched. The second is matching the points from the pair of images by the Cross Correlation Method in both direction(left to right direction and right to left). The third is selecting consistent pairs in the both matching directions. Computer programs based on the proposed matching method have been developed, and with digital aerial photographs which have full ground coordinate information tests were performed to know reliabiliy and positional accuracy of proposed method. Results of the tests reveal that the proposed matching method can eliminate the in-correctly matched pairs more efficiently than other matching methods, thus this can be more reliably applied to the relative orientation and the photogrammetric triangulation.

  • We investigated the accuracy in three dimensional geo-positioning derived by four high resolution satellite images acquired by two different sensors using the vendor-provided rational polynomial coefficients(RPC) based block adjustment in this research. We used two in-track stereo pairs of GeoEye-1 and WorldView-2 satellite and DGPS surveying data. In this experiment, we analyzed accuracies of RPC block adjustment models of two kinds of homogeneous stereo pairs, four kinds of heterogeneous stereo pairs, three 3 triplet image pairs, and one quadruplet image pair separately. The result shows that the accuracies of the models are nearly same. The accuracy without any GCPs reaches about CEP(90) 2.3m and LEP(90) 2.5m and the accuracy with single GCP is about CEP(90) 0.3m and LEP(90) 0.5m.
