진공밀폐 용해법으로 제조된 $La_zCo_4Sb_{12}$ Skutterudite의 열전특성

  • 열전재료는 열과 전기의 변환이 상호 가역적으로 일어나는 현상을 갖는 재료로서, 사용온도별로 여러 가지 재료가 개발되고 있다. 중온 영역에서 우수한 열전특성을 보이는 skutterudite는 격자 내에 2개의 공극을 갖고 있고 이에 적절한 원자를 충진하여 포논산란을 유도하고, PGEC(phonon-glass and electron-crystal) 개념을 적용하여 재료의 열적인 성질과 전기적인 성질을 동시에 제어함으로써 열전성능의 향상을 도모할 수 있는 재료이다. 본 연구에서는 챔버 내부 기체를 연속적으로 뽑아내어 진공도를 유지하는 방식이 아닌, 석영관을 앰플화한 진공밀폐 용해법을 사용하였다. 진공밀폐 용해법은 성분원소의 산화와 휘발을 억제하는데 있어 매우 유용한 공정이다. 용해를 통해 얻어진 잉곳을 용해와 동일한 방법으로 석영관에 밀봉하여 873 K에서 100시간 동안 진공열처리를 실시하였다. 또한, 합성된 잉곳의 기계적 특성 향상을 위해 $75{\mu}m$ 이하로 파쇄하여 진공 열간 압축 소결하였다. La가 충진된 $La_zCo_4Sb_{12}$ Skutterudites 단일상을 합성하여 La의 충진량(z)에 따른 열전특성과 전자이동특성을 조사하였다.

Optimization of aeration for the fermentation of food wastes by lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus (남은 음식물의 중온발효 시료화에 대한 공기의 영향)

  • 본 연구는 남은 음식물을 유산균을 이용하여 발효 사료화 하기 위해 실시하였다. 발효를 촉진시키기 위한 균주로는 Lactobacillus acidophilus를 사용하였고 최적의 발효조건을 갖는 공기 주입량을 알아보기 위해 시료의 발효 조건을 각각 달리 하였다. 시료는 교반하지 않고 공기주입 또한 없는 혐기적 조건의 것과 50rpm의 속도로 교반하면서 0.25v.v.m의 공기를 주입한군, 70rpm의 속도로 교반하면서 0.5v.v.m의 공기를 주입한 군으로 나누었다. 시료는 모두 $37^{\circ}C$로 유지하면서 48시간 발효 시키며 12시간 단위로 시료를 채취하였다. p.H와 유기산함량, 환원당함량과 유산균수를 측정하여 남은 음식물을 발효시키기 위한 최적의 공기 주입량을 알아보았다. 실험결과 50rpm 0.25v.v.m에서 가장 낮은 p.H를 보여주었고 유기산 함량과 환원당 함량은 70rpm 0.5v.v.m에서 가장 높은 함량을 보였다. 유산균은 50rpm 0.25v.v.m에서 가장 많은 증식되었음을 보여주어 적절한 공기의 주입이 남은 음식물의 발효를 촉진하는 것으로 보여진다.

Characterization of Flame-Retardant Foam Asphalt (난연성 폼아스팔트 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to prepare a type of warm mix asphalt. Through urethane foam and emulsion asphalt preparation techniques a protocol of asphalt foam was made. Then three kinds of flame retardant agents were added in there to alleviate the inherent susceptability of asphalt and foam material to flame and thus flame retardant asphalt foam was made. The internal structure of form asphalt was composed of open cell. The higher the NCO% brought the larger the cell and the stronger also. Asphalt increased the strength of the foam. Among the flame retardant agents employed tritorylphosphate was the most effective.

The Effects of Initial pH on VFAs Production of Mesophilic and Thermophilic Acidogenic Fermentation for Food Waste Recycling Wastewater (음폐수의 중온 및 고온 산발효에서 초기 pH가 VFAs 생성에 미치는 영향)

  • Batch cultivations were performed to evaluate the influences of the initial pH condition on mesophilic and thermophilic acidogenic fermentation with food waste recycling wastewater. In both conditions of mesophilic and thermophilic fermentation, TVFAs production rates were maximized at the initial pH 7 condition as 0.15 and 0.23 g TVFAs/L hr, respectively. And pH was also maintained stably between 6 and 7 during 72hr acidogenic cultivation at both conditions. However, predominant VFA components were different according to reaction temperature conditions. In mesophilic condition, propionic acid which has low conversion efficiency to methane was accumulated up to 1,348 mg/L while acetic and butyric acid were predominant in thermophilic condition. Therefore, thermophilic acidogenic fermentation was superior for the effective VFAs production than mesophilic condition. From the DGGE analysis, the band patterns were different according to the initial pH conditions but the correlations of the each band were increased in similar pH conditions. These results mean that microbial communities were certainly affected by the initial pH condition. Consequently, the adjustment of the initial pH to neutral region and thermophilic operation are needed to enhance acidogenic fermentation of food waste recycling wastewater.

PHOTOIONIZATION MODELS OF THE WARM IONIZED MEDIUM IN THE GALAXY (우리은하 중온 이온화 매질의 광이온화 모델)

  • The warm ionized medium (WIM) outside classical H II regions is a fundamental gas-phase constituent of the Milky Way and other late-type spiral galaxies, and is traced by faint emission lines at optical wavelengths. We calculate the photoionization models of the WIM in the Galaxy by a stellar UV radiation with the effective temperature 35,000 K assuming not only spherical geometry but also plane parallel geometry, and compare the results with the observed emission line ratios. We also show the dependence of the emission line ratios on various gas-phase abundances. The emergent emission-line ratios are in agreement with the average-values of observed ratios of [S II] ${\lambda}6716/H{\alpha}$, [N II] ${\lambda}6583/H{\alpha}$, [O I] ${\lambda}6300/H{\alpha}$, [O III] ${\lambda}5007/H{\alpha}$, He I ${\lambda}5876/H{\alpha}$. However, their extreme values could not be explained with the photoionization models. It is also shown that the addition of all stellar radiation from the OB stars in the Hipparcos stellar catalog resembles that of an O7-O8 type star.

Effect of Lactic Acid Treatment on Microorganisms and Sensory Characteristics in Chickens (젖산처리가 닭고기의 미생물과 관능적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The changes of microorganisms, pH, color and flavor were examined in the chicken treated with O%, 1%, 2%, and 3% lactic acid solutions during the storage at 4$^{\circ}C$. Lactic acid treatment inhibited the growth of mesophiles, psychrotrophs, and enteric bacilli as the concentration increased, however, it was not effective on yeasts and molds. Extension of lag phase for mesophilic bacteria and suppression of log phase for psychrotrophs and enteric bacilli were observed in the growth inhibition patterns. The pH of the chicken increased during the storage and antimicrobial effect of lactic acid appears to be due to mainly the decrease of pH. No flavor change of the chicken was observed by any lactic acid treatment, however, 3% lactic acid caused discoloration of the chicken.

Effect of Ammonia Load on Microbial Communities in Mesophilic Anaerobic Digestion of Propionic Acid (암모니아 부하에 따른 프로피온산 중온 혐기성 소화 미생물 군집 변동 조사)

  • The present study investigated the effect of ammonia load on microbial communities in mesophilic anaerobic digestion of propionic acid. A laboratory-scale continuous anaerobic digester treating propionic acid as a sole organic substrate was operated under non-inhibitory condition and inhibitory conditions with ammonia (1.5 g and 3.5 g ammonia-N/L, respectively), and bacterial and archaeal communities in the steady states of each ammonia condition were analyzed using high-throughput sequencing. Thirteen bacterial families were detected as abundant bacterial groups in mesophilic anaerobic digestion of propionic acid. Increase in ammonia concentration resulted in significant shifts in microbial community structures. Syntorophobacter, Pelotomaculum, and Thermovigra were determined as the dominant groups of (potential) propionate oxidizing bacteria in the non-inhibitory condition, whereas Cryptanaerobacter and Aminobacterium were the dominant groups of (potential) propionate oxidizing bacteria in the ammonia-inhibitory condition. Methanoculleus and Methanosaeta were the dominant methanogens. Acetate-oxidation coupled with hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis might be enhanced with increases in the relative abundances of Methanoculleus and Tepidanaerobacter acetatoxydans under the ammonia-inhibitory condition. The results of the present study could be a valuable reference for microbial management of anaerobic digestion systems that are exposed to ammonia inhibition and propionic acid accumulation.

  • Most of the reformer experiments have been conducted only in high-temperature operation conditions above 700℃. However, to design high efficiency solid oxide fuel cell, it is necessary to test actual reaction performance in mid-temperature (550℃) operation areas. In order to study the operation characteristics and performance of commercial reforming catalysts, a reforming performance experiment was conducted on mid-temperature. The catalysts used in this study are Ni-based FCR-4 and Ru-based RuA, RuAL. Experiments were conducted with a Steam-to-carbon ratio of 2.0 to 3.0 under gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) 2,000 to 5,000 hr-1. As a result, RuA and RuAL catalysts showed similar gas composition to the equilibrium regardless of the reforming temperature. However, the FCR-4 catalyst showed a lower hydrogen yield compared to the equilibrium under high GHSV conditions.

Distributions of Microorganisms and Identification of Pathogenic Bacteria Isolated in Raw Beef of Jangzorim (장조림 원료육의 미생물 분포 및 분리 병원성세균의 동정)

  • Raw beefs used fer Jangzorim production were evaluated fur contamination of pathogenic bacteria and microorganisms related to spoilage and food safety. Eleven groups of mesophilic, psychrotrophic, and anaerobic microorganisms, and total coliforms were selected to evaluate degree of food contamination. Nine strains including Bacillus cereus, Clostridium botulinum, C. perfringens, and Listeria monocytogenes were selected to evaluate incidences of pathogenic bacteria. Raw beefs harbored large populations of microorganisms, which decreased greatly after heat treatment. Psychrotrophic microorganisms were found to be more abundant than other microorganisms. B. cereus, C. perfringens, and L. monocytogenes were isolated from raw beefs, whereas C. botulinum, Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, and Yersinia enterocolitica were not isolated. Isoiates from Cereus selective agar, clostridium Perfringens agar, and Oxford agar were in 99.8, 99.9 and 98.6% agreements with B. cereus, C. perfringens, and L. monocytogenes at species level, respectively. B. cereus produced enterotoxin with CRET-RPLA method, whereas C. perfringens did not produce enterotoxin with PET-RPLA method.

Redrying Fire - Retardant - Treated Structural Plywood (구조용(構造用) 내화처리(耐火處理) 합판(合板)의 재건조(再乾燥)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • Exterior grades of Douglas-fir and aspen plywood were impregnated with interior fire-retardant chemicals and redried under low-, intermediate-, and high-temperature drying conditions. Fire-retardant treatments included borax-boric acid, chromated zinc chloride, minalith, pyresote, and a commercial formulation. Drying processes included kiln and press-drying. Evaluated were drying rates and defects generated. The borax-boric acid and the commercial treatments redried at rates similar to water-treated controls. Other salt treatments were significantly slower drying and more defect prone. Chromated zinc chloride treatment was consistently the slowest drying and most defect prone. Press drying was three times faster at an equivalent temperature level. However, thickness shrinkage doubled because of 50 1b/in. platen pressure.
