With China's tremendous expansion, Chinese art and art museums are also rapidly growing. The purpose of this study was to arrange the growth process of Chinese art museums from modern times to modern times, as well as to examine the present state and tendencies. Although there is a disparity between Chinese art museums and those in Western nations, it is being observed that the gap is steadily closing. Chinese art museums are rapidly expanding and adapting to match current art museum trends, both in terms of number and quality. Despite this expansion, it is suffering operating challenges owing to a lack of cash, as well as issues such as insufficient system and support, opposition to progress, and a lack of professional staff. Since research on the Chinese art museum, which has lately attracted international attention, is limited, this study can add to research on the Chinese art museum in Korea. It is feasible to comprehend the development process, present condition, and challenges of Chinese art museums via this study, and based on this, we intend to provide implications for the development of Korean art museums.
In an effort to understand the global standing of artists from Japan, China, and Korea, this article presents an analytic study of data from auctions, notable international contemporary art galleries, notable international art museums, contemporary art biennials, and the Venice Biennales' award. We also look at select art exhibitions as they have been covered by international art magazines to analyze the geography of international contemporary art. Our analysis of international art magazines shows that the global position of the three Asian countries we consider is low in comparison with select Western countries. Auction data, on the other hand, reveals that Chinese and Japanese artists are highly regarded in economic terms, while the visibility of Japanese artists is emphasized in the data we consider from art biennials. In the permanent exhibitions and contemporary art biennales we look at, we note that the visibility of Chinese artists is much higher than that of Japanese and Korean artists, who also demonstrate remarkable visibility. We find that Korean artists represent an important presence in our analysis of the Venice Biennale awards, with Japanese and Chinese artists holding noteworthy positions. Through these myriad criteria, we develop a clear idea of the nature of the global position of artists from Japan, China, and Korea. The Asian art world can profit from these findings by considering them when developing strategies for managing the growth of its artists on the international contemporary art scene.
Contemporary ceramic art as a new art form, how to convey the visual information of contemporary ceramic art works to the audience through the design and display of exhibition space is the primary problem of exhibition space design. Based on the current lack of research on contemporary ceramic art exhibition space design, this study focuses on the characteristics of contemporary ceramic art exhibition space design, in order to achieve the best exhibitions effect of contemporary ceramic art. Firstly, summarize the previous research and examine the "Spirit of Porcelain" -2021 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Art Biennial Exhibition held by the Art Museum of Jingdezhen Ceramic University. From the perspective of human factors engineering, combined with comparative analysis of the overall spatial layout and display space form, the scientific unity of the overall layout of the display space and the flexibility and sustainability of the exhibition space form design are obtained. The theoretical knowledge obtained in this study provides theoretical guidance and important practical significance for the design of contemporary ceramic art exhibition spaces; Simultaneously contributing to the development of contemporary ceramic art exhibition space design in China and even globally.
Recently, the Japan Cultural Agency announced a plan for revitalizing the art market represented by reading museums (advanced art museums) to promote industry through strengthening the sustainability and economics of art museums. Seeing that the situation is not much different from Japan, Korea is also actively discussing new establishments of the National Art Bank, performing art appraisal and evaluation functions for revitalizing art works, art loan, art trust, etc. There is. As it is difficult to solve realistic problems with subsidies from the future situation, it is difficult for us to expand investment in culture, and culture and economy are united and linked. You will find a plan to make it operational. In this regard, it is thought that the examination of the cultural and economic agency's strategy, represented by the Japanese advanced art museums, gives us a meaningful suggestion.

This study aims to comprehend that Seokpajeong garden for aspect of space change. Spatial characteristics according to the transfer of ownership are classified as period. And investigate the aspect of space change in Seokpajeong garden based on literature and painting, newspaper, photo. The results were as follows. First, Investigate the construction and change of Seokpajeong garden. Accordingly, spatial characteristics of Seokpajeong garden are classified into three period. 1st period is Kim-Heung Keun owned Samgyedong-jungsa garden. 2nd period is Daewongun hold Seokpajeong garden. 3rd period is damaged original form of Seokpajeong garden from Korean War to current time inclusive. Secondly, Kim-Heung Keun owned Samgyedong-jungsa garden has characteristics of water system centric space and many buildings. In addition accept foreign culture like chinese pavilion and Byeoldang Villa. and plant unique flower and leaf in garden. Thirdly, According to Seokpajeong garden folding screen, Daewongun owned Seokpajeong garden accept organization of space in Samgyedong garden. But different locations of Sarangchae in folding screen means possibility of move building to current position. So, additional historical research is required with representation of chinese pavilion location. Fourthly, Seokpajeong garden was damaged from original form to frequent changes of ownership. Transform of geographical features and water system as well as Anchae and Sarangchae, back side of a outbuilding are only the remained among many buildings. Also, Seokpajeong garden is more fell to the subsidiary facility of Seoul Museum than Wonrim. Therefore restoration and recovery of original form are urgent.
The purpose of this thesis is to look through the political and social background of China preparing for a new era after getting out of the Communist Party of Mao Zedong, rapid inflow of the Western modernism and the avant-garde art arising in China with the focus of art works of Xu Bing, which contributed to the expansion of printmaking of China. Particularly, 85 New Wave Movement arose by young artists since 1985 and the China/Avant-Garde Exhibition held in Beijing in 1989 are the two important issues which reflect a new change from the traditional Chinese art. The artists of 85 New Wave Movement, who pursued a historical revolution and novelty, worked very actively by leading private exhibitions. Since the Cultural Revolution, the government owned the National Museum of Fine Art Beijing had exhibitions on a large scale displaying various visual arts such as performing art, installation, painting, sculpture but the Chinese government interrupted exhibitions two time due to bold performing art and unconcealed installation. Some artists were even taken to the police when performing art. Under these circumstances, Xu Bing, who majored printmaking, produced one of his major works, Books from the sky(1988), while he was working on various experiments focusing on the production process of printmaking and its repetitiveness. Xu Bing devised letters, carved them in trees and finally created approximately 2000 characters. Going further he displayed it as installation work, which means the developed characters go beyond a printed form, for audiences. This made him earn favorable reviews since it was a form of western art coupled with Chinese contents 'Chinese character'. After he received unfavorable reviews, however, he went to America leaving his last work in China, Ghost Pounding the Wall, in 1990, which was not able to exhibited. In those days, China society was going through a chaotic era thanks to the extinction of the Cultural Revolution and Deng Xiaoping's(1904-1997) reformation after the debacle of Tiananmen Massacre. This study looks into Xu Bing's artworks from his initial print works until he went to the US in 1991 and examines how he performed experiments utilizing reproductivity and plurality of prints tinged with Chinese traditional elements, and ultimately became one of the avant-garde artists representing the period.
This article reevaluates the National Museum of Korea's pivotal actions during the Korean War in the 1950s and its aftermath. It argues that the evacuation of the museum's collection to Busan and the subsequent exhibition "Masterpieces of Korean Art" in the United States in 1957 were not isolated events, but rather interconnected facets of a larger narrative shaping the museum's trajectory. With newly discovered archival evidence, this study unravels the intricate relationship between these episodes, revealing how the initial Busan evacuation evolved into a strategic U.S.-led touring exhibition. Traditionally, the Busan evacuation has been understood solely as a four-stage relocation of the museum's collections between December 1950 and May 1951. However, this overlooks the broader context, particularly the subsequent U.S. journey. Driven by the war's initial retreat of the war, the Busan evacuation served as a stepping stone for evacuation to Honolulu Museum of Art. The path of evacuation took an unexpected turn when the government redirected the collections to the Honolulu Museum of Art. Initially conceived as a storage solution, public opposition led to a remarkable transformation: the U.S. exhibition. To address public concerns, the evacuation plan was canceled. This shift transformed the planned introduction into a full-fledged traveling exhibition. Subsequently approved by the National Assembly, the U.S. Department of State spearheaded development of the exhibition, marking a distinct strategic cultural policy shift for Korea. Therefore, the Busan evacuation, initially envisioned as a temporary introduction to the U.S., ultimately metamorphosed into a multi-stage U.S. touring exhibition orchestrated by the U.S. Department of State. This reframed narrative sheds new light on the museum's crucial role in navigating a complex postwar landscape, revealing the intricate interplay between cultural preservation, public diplomacy, and strategic national interests.
This paper is to find the theme and meaning of the Beauvais Grotesque tapestry considered a conundrum. The three works are chosen from Beauvais Grotesque consisting of six tapestries, which are The Offering to Pan, The Musician and Dancers, The Camel in the J. Paul Getty Museum. I analyzed these works by dividing them into grotesque ornaments, chinoiserie motifs, and scenography. The Offering to Pan shows the influence of Raphael's Grotesque tapestry, but Beauvais work followed the design of Jean Berain's Grotesque with arabesque. In The Musician and Dancers, chinese ceramics, textiles, and Chinese people in edge were noted. Especially, the Chinese with yellow skin in the border reveals the European gaze on China at that time. In the 18th century, Chinoiserie was prevalent through stage designs rather than books. The Camel, playing Brighella, makes it clear that this tapestry is a stage of Comedia dell'arte. The characteristic of Comedia is a mixture of genres such as music and dance, with no scripting 'improvisation.' Features of Comedia are 'improvisation' without a script and a mixture of genres such as music and dance. Thus, the Grotesque tapestry transfers the stage of the Comedia into threads woven. In addition, the horizontal stage decoration with the disappearance of the perspective vanishing point is related to the era of regent of Philippe d'Orl?ans (1674-1723). Above all, the grotesque, Chinoiserie, and scenography are all fantasies separated from reality. Therefore, the Beauvais Grotesque tapestry represents of 'improvisation' and 'fantasy' in which there is no narrative theme or meaning, as if the script of Comedia did not exist.
This study organized various perspectives on the scope of arts management in terms of business management based on bibliographical speculations and statistical data. Management of arts such as performance art involves organizational management, human resources management, marketing and financial management. However arts management needs a new perspective in terms of access to specific academic area of arts while it can be approached in a derivative perspective of management theories. For arts include professional areas that need aesthetic perspective and interpretation of aesthetic history. As art market were opened where active international exchanges have been made over the past ten years, a new strategic approach in management is needed for major international arts markets such as the U.S.A., Europe and China. Such international arts markets involve international auctions markets, international Biennale, international art fair and overseas advance of galleries. First, we need strategic approaches such as nurturing star artists. Second, large-scale exhibition planning of artistic works from world-famous museums or art museums should be developed.
This study examines the process of the introduction of stupa, which has originated in India, to the Xinjiang Uyghur region and the features of the stupas in the Xinjiang Uyghur region in detail. This study examines the layout of the buildings in temple compounds and the types, structural elements, and construction methods of the stupas in the Xinjiang Uyghur region in particular by looking into the content of the Da Tang Xi Yu Ji and remaining stupas, which provide examples of stupas at the time. This study finds that due to the characteristics of dry deserts, stupas in Xinjiang Uyghur region, where assimilation between Eastern and Western cultures is seen, were mostly made by pressing clay into a mold and had no interior spaces. Also, construction materials and techniques had been developed and improved in a way that enabled stupas to combat the challenging desert conditions. However, the stupas in this region differed significantly from the wooden tower-like stupas discovered in central China(zhongyuan 中原). The shape of the dome of most stupas in Xinjiang Uyghur region was chosen under the influence of the Gandharan style. Some of the stupas in the region have taken the general forms of the wooden stupas and the others have taken many forms, from cylindrical drums to towers. Also, there have been forests of stupas and stupas similar in form to chaityas and stupas of Vajrayana. Such different forms were transformed and modified through regional history and it was related to the peoples and cultures that produced and used stupas. Stupas evolved into distinct forms in Xinjiang Uyghur region in this way.
