Recovery of Tin with High Purity for Dental Materials from Waste Tin oxide by Reduction and Electro Refining (폐주석산화물로부터 환원공정 및 전해정련을 통한 치과용 고순도 주석 회수)

  • In this study, using electro-refining process and methane gas reduction, we performed studying the recovery of tin with high purity from waste tin oxide had used as a electrode rod of ceramic furnace which occurred during glass production process. We recovered the crude tin of 99% purity from a methane gas reduction process and controlled a little amount of impurities. When the electrolytic refining condition was a current density of $60A/dm^2$ and the sulfuric acid concentration of 0.75 mol, 96.8% of recovered tin (99.979% of purity) were recovered during the electrolytic refining. We confirmed that toxic impurities such as Pb, Sb included in electrode rod. could be controlled.

  • A study for recovering of copper and lead from electronic scraps has been carried out using a combination of bioleaching and solvent extraction. It was found that the citric acid generated by Aspergillus niger could be an imporant leaching agent acting in the solubilization of copper, iron, lead and tin from the electronic scrap. Copper could be selectively extracted by 10% LIX84 from the leaching solution and it recoved 99.9% of metallic copper by electrowinning process. Tin and iron were extracted from the remaining solution by 10% Alamine336 and stripped by NaCl solution. Finally, tin could be recovered as a metallic precipitates from the mixed solution of tin and iron by cementation with iron powder.

  • 폐 자원에서 회수한 주석 조금속의 주석 순도 및 불순물 순도, 전해정련 및 진공정련 후 주석 순도를 ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer)분석을 통해 확인하였다. 무기산 전해액에서 전해정련 수행결과 고순도 주석을 확보하였고, 이후 증기압, 온도 및 유지시간 별 진공정련 수행결과 초고순도 주석을 회수할 수 있는 최적화 기술을 도출하였다.

  • Cyclone electrowinning method was used to recover tin to metal in hydrochloric acid solution. The effects of flow rate, current density, tin concentration, and hydrochloric acid concentration on the electrowinning of tin were investigated. As the flow rate increased and the concentration of tin and hydrochloric acid decreased, the tin recovery and current efficiency increased. As the current density increased, the recovery rate increased but the current efficiency decreased. Tin can be effectively recovered at flow rates of 18 L/min., $3A/dm^2$, 2.5 g/L Sn, and 5 wt.% HCl.

  • A study on the cementation for the recovery of tin with aluminium in the hydrochloric acid solution was carried out. Parameters, such as aluminium metal equivalent, pH, reaction time, reaction temperature and the concentration of chloride ions were investigated. The experimental results showed that the cementation rate of Sn(II) ions increased with increase of the addition amount of aluminium powders, temperature, pH and the concentration of chloride ions in hydrochloric acid solution. From the results, the optinum conditions for recovery of metallic tin by cementation with aluminium metal powders were proposed.

  • A study has been made on the recovery of tin and copper from waste solder stripper by oxalate precipitation. With the increasing of the oxalic acid addition, tin was precipitated effectively and removed above 99.5% of tin when the oxalic acid, in an amount 1.0-1.5 times the stoichometric requirement, was added. But, in this case, only 2.0% of copper was precipitated and lead, iron were not precipitated. So, tin was selectively removed from the waste solution. With the increasing of the reaction temperature, the removal percentage of tin was increased and maximum value at arounf $60^{\circ}C$ and decreased with increase in the temperature any more. After filtering the precipitate and drying in oven, $SnO_2$ was obtained from the precipitate. After removal of tin in stripping solution, above 91% of copper was selectively removed by Cu-oxalate by addition of oxalic acid.

  • 주석 도금시 발생하는 주석 폐 도금 슬러지로부터 주석을 회수하기 위해 염산 직접 침출방법과 환원 열처리($700^{\circ}C{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$)후 염산 침출방식을 고찰하였다. 폐 슬러지의 염산 직접 침출시 주석의 침출율은 40% 이하였다. 폐 슬러지를 수소분위기하에서 $700^{\circ}C$, $800^{\circ}C$, $900^{\circ}C$, $1100^{\circ}C$로 열처리한 후에 염산을 이용하여 침출시에는 환원된 주석의 침출율이 97% 이상이었고, 온도가 $800^{\circ}C$일 때 침출율이 98.2 %로 가장 효과가 좋았다.

  • 주석함유 2차 공정 부산물인 양극 슬라임내의 금속을 회수하기 위하여 탄소환원반응을 통해 금속 회수에 미치는 공정변수의 영향을 조사하였다. 열역학 모델링과 금속환원 실험결과, 환원 온도와 고체 환원제인 코크스(cokes)에 공정 변수에 따라 금속으로 환원이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Dry reduction using natural gas was proposed to recover tin from waste tin oxide generated in a tin bath that was used for controlling the smoothness of architectural glass during production, and the reduction behavior was investigated. The utilized vertical natural gas dry reduction system is capable to process 4 L or 20 kg depending on input raw materials. The system was established by applying the upper intake and lower discharge method. The recovery rate was 97.2% at 800 ℃ and 4 sccm flow rate and increased with the amount of input gas. Hydrogen accounted for 23% of the discharge gas, showing a 16.6% hydrogen conversion rate. The reaction behavior of tin recovered via natural gas reduction provides basic data on the new waste resource reduction/recovery technology.

  • The electro-refining process was performed to purify the casted tin crude metal from waste tin in methanesulfonic acid. The surface morphologies of electrodeposited tin on cathode were observed, the dendrite and delamination were inhibited by glycol group of organic additive. The impurity concentrations of tin crude metal and deposited metal were analyzed using ICP-OES. Quantitative analysis on casted tin crude metal showed that it consists of tin with 97.280 wt.% and several impurity metals of Ag, Cu, Pb, Ni, and etc. After tin electro-refining, the purity of tin increased up to 99.956 wt.%. Reduction current by cyclic voltammetry seems to be closely related to behavior of impurity in tin electro-refining.
