An Empirical Study on the Effect of Emotional Intelligence and Logic Intelligence on Organizational Citizenship Behavior - Moderating Effect of Emotional Labor - (감성지능과 논리지능이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향 - 감정노동의 조절효과 -)

  • The purposes of this paper are to examine the effect of emotional intelligence and logic intelligence on organizational citizenship behavior and to examine the moderating effect of intelligence labor on these relationship. For these purposes, literature review and survey research were conducted. The 420 questionnaires were sent to the 12 manufactural firms in the Busan and Kyungsang Nam-Do region for empirical analysis. Total 363 usable responses were collected(effective response rate : 86.40%). The major findings of the empirical research are as follows ; First, emotional intelligence and logic intelligence have positive influence organizational citizenship behavior. but emotional intelligence have more positive influence than logic intelligence on organizational citizenship behavior. Second, emotional intelligence has differential influence on organizational citizenship behavior by emotional labor, but logic intelligence hasn't that. In conclusion, emotional intelligence is expected to improve organizational citizenship behavior which is extra-role behavior in an organization. Therefore, managers have to develop organizational citizenship behavior by exhibiting emotional intelligence, considering emotional labor.

Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Career Commitment and Organizational Commitment of Day-care Teachers (보육교사의 정서지능이 경력몰입 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the emotional intelligence of day-care teachers on their career commitment and organizational commitment in an attempt to provide some information on the development of the emotional intelligence of day-care teachers. Two hundred and three teachers in day-care centers in Gyeonggi-do Suwon-si participated in the study and descriptive, correlation, multiple regression analysis were conducted. The results are as follows: First, the emotional intelligence of day-care teachers had a statistically significant positive correlation to career commitment. In addition, among the sub-factors of emotional intelligence, motivating oneself and knowing one's emotion exerted a statistically significant positive influence on career commitment. Second, the emotional intelligence of day-care teachers had a statistically significant positive correlation to organizational commitment. In addition, among the sub-factors of emotional intelligence, motivating oneself exerted a statistically significant positive influence on career commitment.

The Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment of Dietitians in Elementary Schools (초등학교 영양사의 감성지능이 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of emotional intelligence on job satisfaction and organizational commitment of dietitians in elementary schools. The correlation analysis was conducted in order to examine the relationship among emotional intelligence, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to determine the impact of dietitians' emotional intelligence on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The analysis results are as follows. Emotional intelligence showed a statistically significantly positive correlation with job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Especially, emotional perception and emotional intelligence had a correlation coefficient of 0.774, the highest but emotional management and organizational commitment had a correlation efficient of 0.254, the lowest. As for the effect of dietitians' emotional intelligence on job satisfaction and organizational commitment, emotional thinking promotion gave a statistically significantly positive impact on dietitians' organizational commitment. As dietitians' emotional function of thought and emotional management got higher, their job satisfaction got higher. As dietitians' emotional function of thought got higher, their organizational commitment got higher as well. These results recommend that development of an emotional intelligence promotion program to effectively control factors related to dietitians' emotional intelligence is necessary to enhance their job satisfaction and organization commitment in the future.

Social Intelligence (SI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) as Predictors of Job Engagement and Organizational Commitment in Deluxe Hotel (특급 호텔 종사원의 사회지능과 감성지능이 직무열의 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • This study explores the influence of social intelligence (SI) and emotional intelligence (EI) on employees' job engagement and organizational commitment in deluxe (five-star) hotels in Korea, and seeks to analyze the mediating effects of employees' job engagement on the relationship between SI, EI, and employees' commitment. The sample for the survey was collected from 419 F & B employees. The results of structural equation modeling show that employees' SI had a positive effect on job engagement and organizational commitment. EI also had a positive effect on job engagement but not on organizational commitment. In addition, the findings demonstrate that employees' job engagement mediated the effect of EI on organizational commitment. SI and EI are crucial requirements among hotel employees who depend on cooperation between colleagues.

  • It is necessary to investigate the relationship between ego-resiliency, organizational loyalty, organizational commitment, and emotional intelligence of hospital administrative staff and the effect of these factors on emotional intelligence. Therefore, this study investigated the relationship between these factors and emotional intelligence and identified the convergence effect on emotional intelligence in hospital administrative staff. The subjects of the survey were randomly selected 212 administration staffs at 19 hospitals selected from the J area. The data collection was conducted for about a month from May 1 to 31, 2019. The form of the questionnaire used structured anonymous self-administered responses. Emotional intelligence showed a positive correlation between ego-resiliency, organizational loyalty, and organizational commitment. According to the analysis, efforts to enhance ego-resiliency, organizational loyalty, and organizational commitment are needed to increase the emotional intelligence of hospital administration staffs. The findings may be used as basic materials for hospital job management and industrial health education that will raise the emotional intelligence of hospital administration staffs. Future research needs to investigate additional factors related to emotional intelligence and various emotional factors of hospital administrative staff.

A Study on Influence of Foodservice Managers' Emotional Intelligence on Job Attitude and Organizational Performance (급식관리자의 개인적 감성지능이 직무태도 및 조직성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study were to: a) provide evidence concerning the effects of emotional intelligence on job outcomes, b) examine the impacts of emotional intelligence on employee-related variables such as 'job satisfaction', 'organizational commitment', 'organizational performance', and 'turnover intention' c) identify the conceptual framework underlying emotional intelligence. A survey was conducted to collect data from foodservice managers (N=231). Statistical analyses were completed using SPSS Win (16.0) for descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, t-test, correlation analysis, cluster analysis and AMOS (16.0) for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar screens of many leaders and managers over the last several decades. The emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thinking and interaction with others. The main results of this study were as follows. The four EI (Emotional Intelligence) dimensions correlated significantly with age. The means of job satisfaction score were above the midpoint (3.04 point) scale. The organizational commitment score was above the midpoint (3.41 point) scale and was higher at 'loyalty' factor than 'commitment' factor. The means of organizational performance score were above the midpoint (3.34) scale. The correlations among the four EI (emotional intelligence) factors were significant with job satisfaction; organizational commitment, organizational performance and turnover intention. The test of hypothesis using structural equation modeling found that emotional intelligence produced positive effects on job attitude and job performance. Emotional intelligence enhanced organizational commitment, and in turn, managers' attitude produced positive effects on organizational performance; emotional intelligence also had a direct impact on organizational performance. This study has identified the effect of emotional intelligence on organizational performance and attitudes toward one's job.

  • Today, Emotional Intelligence of the leader has become important in order to achieve the achievement of the organization. Especially, the automobile industry is somewhat conservative and the organizational culture of the subcontractor is still much more important than the service industry which has a flexible. In this context, I examine the Emotional Intelligence on Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Innovative Behavior in manufacture of automobile industry focusing on moderating effect of Authentic Leadership. This Study enhances the understanding of Emotional Intelligence and extends the research. Future research will needed to pioneer research methods such as various aspects of measurement and time series of various variables.

Effect of Elderly Physical Instructor's Emotional Intelligence on Leader-Member Interchange Relation (LMX) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (노인체육지도자의 감성지능이 리더-조직원 교환관계(LMX)와 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper aims to figure out an effect of aged sports instructors' emotional intelligence on leader-member exchange (LMX) and organizational citizenship behavior and to improve a work environment by developing members' emotional intelligence. To achieve this goal, it handed out a survey to 282 elderly sports instructors from five sports centers and elderly sports centers located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chonan in Chungcheongnam-do and collected it from them. After then, it conducted a relationship analysis and multiple regression analysis and showed the following findings. First, it suggested that emotional intelligence of elderly sports instructors significantly affected leader-member exchange (LMX) positively. Next, it turned out that the emotional intelligence had a significant positive influence on organizational citizenship behavior. Last, it found that leader-member exchange (LMX) of the instructors did significantly impact on the organizational citizenship behavior positively. Therefore, as a result, it is very important that the paper demonstrated the emotional intelligence of the aged sports instructors significantly contributed to the advancement of leader-member exchange (LMX) and organizational citizenship behavior, and the development of members' emotional intelligence had a positive effect on the effectiveness of organizations.

  • The purpose of this study was to research the relationships among transformational leadership, emotional intelligence, organizational citizenship behavior and job performance of employees in hotel corporations. Transformational leadership is associated with higher levels of organizational citizenship behavior and job performance by their employees. And emotional intelligence is an important antecedent of work related outcomes such as organizational citizenship behavior, intention to quit and job performance. To accomplish this study, it was determined that the analysis derived from a hypothesis and literature reviews and data collected from 201 employees in hotel corporations. The results of empirical analysis showed as follows. First, Transformational leadership has a significant influence on emotional intelligence, organizational citizenship behavior and job performance. Second, Emotional intelligence has a significant influence on organizational citizenship behavior Third, mediating effects of employee's emotional intelligence in the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behavior was confirmed. Based on these findings, the implications and limitations of the study were presented including some directions for future studies.

A Study on effects of emotional labor and emotional intelligence of dental hygienist on organizational effectiveness (치과위생사의 감정노동과 감성지능이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • This study was undertaken to analyze factors influencing the emotional labor and emotional intelligence of a dental hygienist on organizational effectiveness. The study was conducted between September 4, 2018 to December 7, 2018, enrolling a total of 233 dental hygienists living in the Jeollabuk-do province. The data were analyzed by independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression, using SPSS 18.0. The regression model obtained was F=138.917, P<0.05, with an explanatory percentage of 58.2. Emotional labor (${\beta}=0.608$) was determined to be the most influential variable among independent variables, and other factors affecting the organizational effectiveness of a dental hygienist include the highest level of education, career, and emotional intelligence. We conclude that in order to improve organizational effectiveness among dental hygienists, it is necessary to establish an effective plan for reducing emotional labor and promote emotional intelligence.
