  • Students experience a variety of achievement-related emotions during the process of learning the science curriculum. The purpose of this study is to develop an achievement emotions questionnaire for Korean middle school science curriculum to measure the achievement emotions that middle school students experience during study of this curriculum, and verified its validity. The Achievement Emotions Questionnaire-Korean Middle School Science is based on the English version of the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire, developed with reference to Korean middle school science curriculum and the characteristics of science study, from the perspective of the control-value theory of achievement. It has 232 questions, configured to measure nine achievement emotions across three types of academic settings. The questionnaire results can be treated with a high degree of confidence according to the result of our validation, which also verified that the achievement emotions of these students are configured with four internal criteria (learning strategy, achievement motivation and course grade), as suggested by the control-value theory; this in turn verifies that the nine achievement emotions are sufficiently distinctive across study situations. Last, it was verified that the questionnaire has sufficient external validity based on a comprehensive examination of the relation between science achievement emotions and the four criterion variables for each student. This suggests that through the development and implementation of this quantitative questionnaire, basic ground was provided to understand the achievement emotions experienced by middle school students learning the science curriculum.

  • The aim of this paper is to establish the theoretical foundation on "the integrative study of the character education for the promotion of social and emotional competencies of children.". Based on the social and emotional learning(SEL), this paper is tried to find out the effective ways to develop children's good character. According to SEL, social and emotional competence is the ability to understand, manage, and express the social and emotional aspects of one's life in ways that enable the successful management of life tasks such as learning, forming relationships, solving everyday problems, and adapting to the complex demands of growth and development. And it is also the process of acquiring and effectively applying the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to recognize and manage emotions. Five key competencies such as self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, self-management, relationship skills are taught, practiced, and reinforced through SEL programming. Both the social and emotional learning movement and the character education share in common the idea that much of human character can be modified for the better through learning. While character educators engage in developing civic virtue and moral character in our youth for more compassionate and responsible society, SEL educators engage in educating for a safe, secure, caring society. To effectively teach social and emotional competencies, the teachers themselves must embrace a teaching and learning philosophy that models the attitudes, feelings, and behaviors we aim to teach.

Fourth, research on food-related psychological disorders was conducted on food cravings, binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa, eating inhibition, and healthy food obsession. Fifth, it was found that studies related to the treatment of food-related psychological disorders were focused on the cognitive behavioral therapy approach. And to provide basic data for the athletes and coaches in the sports field to improve understanding of the overtraining symptoms from the brain physiological point of view. We reviewed the domestic and international academic materials and research reports published in the last 20 years using electronic databases and examined the literature that is consistent with the purpose of this study among the retrieved documents. Based on the reviewed literature, we examined the cognitive information processing and emotional change of the athlete according to the training, and overtraining can accumulate the fatigue of the body, which can cause severe side effects in terms of cognitive ability and emotional ability of athletes as well as deterioration of performance. The study using P300 and EEG cerebral hemispheric asymmetry difference indices also confirmed the possibility of a new approach to understand psychological and physiological effects of overtraining on information processing and emotional changes.

  • This study examined the influences of age, offenders' intention, victims' emotional reactions on the moral emotional understanding of preschool children. Eighty eight children aged 4, 5, and 6 participated in this study, and were interviewed using four moral transgression stories. The responses of the children were then analyzed in terms of the levels of moral emotional understanding, from error through to the understanding of secondary emotions. The results indicated that older children showed higher levels of moral emotional understanding than younger children. Additionally, children's moral emotional understanding was higher in situations in which offenders' behaviors were intentional, and in which the victims expressed sadness. The attribution of moral emotions was influenced by victims' emotional reactions only in 6-year-old children. Discussion of these results also included the development of intervention programs for children with aggressive behaviors, as well as a number of suggestions for future study.
